Contractor hurt in Afghanistan creates new beginning On a cloudy morning in October 2012, Adam Anderson of Satellite Beach found himself in a remote region of Afghanistan as a private contractor on a classified mission. Anderson had started his job with the defense contractor, which he declined to identify, just six weeks prior, and it still felt like an adventure. Not lost on Anderson was that he was in a distant land, which was both exciting and dangerous, performing high-security work in a war zone for the company, which he declined to identify. He was scheduled to report for duty at noon, as usual, and had just left his sleeping quarters when he felt the impact of a mortar explosion. There was no whistling to warn him of what was about to happen, just a sudden jolt from behind, pushing him forward, and an instantaneous sensation of pain as shrapnel pierced him and blood soaked his clothes. He dropped to the ground and yelled for help, watching in horror as blood spurted out of his pant leg and a medical crew rushed to his side. "They told me that if I was 10 feet further back, I would be dead," Anderson said. Today, Anderson is back in Satellite Beach, rebuilding his life as a small businessman and hoping to put Afghanistan and his injuries behind him. Understanding the terms of severe weather Tropical Storm Watch: Tropical storm conditions are possible in the area. Hurricane Watch: Hurricane conditions are possible in the area. Watches are issued 48 hours in advance of the anticipated onset of tropical storm force winds. Tropical Storm Warning: Tropical storm conditions are expected in the area. Hurricane Warning: Hurricane conditions are expected in the area. Warnings are issued 36 hours in advance of tropical storm force winds. Eye: Clear, sometimes well-defined center of the storm with calmer conditions. Eye Wall: Surrounding the eye, contains some of the most severe weather of the storm with the highest wind speed and largest precipitation. Rain Bands: Bands coming off the cyclone that produce severe weather conditions such as heavy rain, wind and tornadoes. Storm Surge: Quick flooding of coastal areas and sometimes areas further inland. Extreme Wind Warning/Advisory means that extreme sustained winds of 115 mph or greater are expected to begin within an hour, immediately take shelter in the interior portion of a well-built structure.

Looking through the information available on the Internet alone one can easily become overwhelmed as passions seem to run both ways as to which is better, salt or chlorine. Salt pool systems became popular because they’re very low maintenance — at first. They require very little in the way of expensive chemicals or day-to-day upkeep. Fannie Mae Homepath Program Update Fannie Mae recently announced that they are discontinuing both the HomePath and HomePath Renovation loan programs. If you have a buyer wishing to buy a Fannie Mae HomePath eligible home they must have a fully executed contract prior to October 6. Currently Fannie Mae HomePath loans allow for a buyer to put 5% down payment (owner occupied), incur no mortgage insurance expense, and there is no appraisal on the property. Contracts after October 6 will no longer have those special loan features, however the buyer can still buy the Fannie Mae owned home using other financing such as FHA, VA, or Conventional. RE/MAX Elite agents may want to reach out to potential buyers who have been considering a Fannie Mae HomePath property-now is the time to get an offer accepted so the buyer can take advantage of these special loan features. Finally remember that when Fannie Mae is the seller the cost of the Florida Document Stamps on the Deed ($.70 per $100 of the sales price) is passed on to the Buyer. Fannie Mae considers themselves a government agency and thus exempt from paying this tax as a seller normally does; however local government requires the tax be paid regardless of Fannie Mae’s status and your buyer will incur this cost.
