our wedding cake is a delightful player in your wedding event! But sometimes it can be a real challenge to decide on the type of design or style of cake you would like to present. Just like your fashionable wedding dress, your cake has a style all its own and should reflect your taste, style, personality and the setting it is placed in. First of all, think about where your cake will be placed at your reception. Ask the facility coordinator where the most common place is that people put the cake in the reception hall. If this spot works well with your design, it is totally ok to use this spot. No one is going to say "well so and so had their cake in that spot." Really look at that spot. Does it have lighting over the cake table or is your cake going to sit in the dark, sadly going un-highlighted and unnoticed. Oh, this is sad. If the spot where you choose to place your sugar masterpiece is dark, consider having pin lighting to highlight your cake. These days there are battery powered LED (light emitting diodes) that last for hours and can be mounted easily in discreet spots. Check with your lighting expert, or companies like the ones in this magazine, Zach with Empire Lighting Design or Jam Events & Productions, can help you. The effect is magnificent!

Dance Away+++ the Night

ne of the realities of any wedding reception is that if you want a party to get rolling, you need great entertainment to make it happen. Whether you choose a live band, DJ or both, your venue should be able to accommodate the requirements of that entertainment. Most wedding chapel style venues are ready for a party. They often have designated spots where a band or DJ works very well, both in space and acoustically. Some places however are much more stylized and never designed for a party, like a 100 year old barn or vintage building. Your DJ or band, if they are unfamiliar with the venue, may want to pay it a visit to check things out. It is a good idea to check with your venue to see if it is ok for a vendor to make a visit to scope it out and see if there is anything unusual they will need to prepare for.

dance floor lighting. Some live bands have many pieces and you want to make sure the space they will be playing in can accommodate all of their equipment. Timing is a big consideration as well. How early can the DJ or band come in to set up. The more elaborate the setup, the more time may be needed to be ready for your party. Be sure to check with your venue about set up times for your vendors and then communicate this with your entertainer. This can greatly reduce your stress levels if they can get in on time and be ready for you.^

This is a whimsical and magical affair! Using light and bright colors with milk glass vases really keeps the mood light and fluffy! Let’s assume you already have done all the research and have booked the best stylist/artist in the industry. Here is a small list of important steps to achieve the look you have been dreaming about. 1. Trial! You have done the research, read the reviews or even worked with the professional before. A trial is the only way to know if you and the stylist/artist are on the same page. You may be picturing a romantic up do and end up receiving “prom like” tendrils. Maybe a smoky eye is on the top of your list but, you have never actually worn a smoky eye. Pictures are a great way to find what you like; however, it is not until you try the look on whether you will know if it fits.

3. Confirmation. Either the bride or wedding planner should confirm the appointment time, location and details with the beauty professionals a week prior to the date. If any changes occur between the time you booked your appointment notify the professional immediately to resolve any challenges the change may present.

2. Maintenance. Do not skip on the trim and or regular color service. Hair should be freshly trimmed and touched up about 5-7 days prior to your wedding.

4. Preparation! It is important to be prepared on the morning of your date. I know it sounds obvious, but it is often quite hard for a bride to disconnect and relax. Imagine how complicated it is to style a brides hair while she is painting her toes, or apply cosmetics while the bride is on the phone. Also consider the type of atmosphere you wish to get ready within. Some brides love the excitement of friends and family laughing and talking and buzzing around, others prefer a smaller more serene group, plan accordingly.

Eyebrow shaping and any other waxing services should also be planned ahead of time. Consult with your makeup artist and/or waxing professional.

Following these simple tips will help you achieve your best hair and makeup. Most importantly remember a happy bride radiates beauty. ^

any great things happen at college. For Lindsay & James(Jimmy), their first semester at the University of Oklahoma would begin much more than their college education. Two people would find each other and begin a wonderful journey together.

It was during that first semester that Lindsay was finding dormitory life unappealing. Choosing rather to spend most of her evenings with friends privileged to live in the athletic dorms. It would be here that she and Jimmy would discover each other as he was the current place kicker on OU's football team and a resident there. So it was that on Halloween of 2007, Lindsay and her friends "dressed up for an evening on the town" which began at the Bud dormitory. That night, she and Jimmy had a chance to talk and exchanged numbers. Lindsay recalls that "through four years of college, our relationship grew stronger each semester!" As their time in college passed and their love continued to grow, it would be their fifth year together that would bring Jimmy to Lindsay's father to ask for his blessing. Jimmy, working as a traveling landsman, "disguised a trip to Dallas to pick the perfect ring as quote, business related." It would be, on one of the biggest days of their lives, that the day would get just a bit bigger. Lindsay relates "On perhaps one of the most nerve-wracking and exciting days of our lives, we began that scorching hot June day anxious to close on our new dream home. That evening, Jimmy, my parents and I, and of course, our dog Norman, pulled into the driveway with the keys to our very own home. We could not wait to get pictures in front of the “sold” sign of the home we so diligently battled the rights for. As we stood in the front yard, the sun showed no remorse—this was one hot day! But for someone in the yard, the sweat could not be contained. Just as I so desperately had my back turned

Without an ounce of uncertainty, I said yes!" The wedding Lindsay had always dreamed of was a "charming outdoor wedding that created a casual, informal atmosphere." Adding to that atmosphere, she incorporated handmade, vintage and shabby chic touches by bringing personal, little details such as photographs that helped express the rustic charm and sentiment of an Oklahoma wedding. Lindsay recalls how blessed she felt on the morning of their wedding. "June 1st, 2013 was nothing short of one of life's biggest blessings for me." It was a beautiful day, incredibly crafted and so different from the stress and disbelief of the unimaginable wrath of nature just the day before. She recalls that "from the moment I stepped outside into the beautiful morning of our wedding, I was smitten with the day and all it was to become." And it was a beautiful day. A day filled with "a wonderful circle of loving and comforting friends & family." But there was more than that, this was the day she got to "marry the most amazing, giving, and loving man of my dreams!" Lindsay recalls becoming speechless at the sight of the decorated setting. The reception, kicked off with "Boomer Sooner" rang such a note of truth for them. Their guests, swathed in a setting of vintage charm created by her and her mother's crafting skills, relished in its welcoming warmth. Vintage wooden crates with mason jar centerpieces, birdcages, candlelight and old photos of Lindsay and Jimmy created that sweet, Oklahoma atmosphere she longed for. Add to that a floral palette of pink and white peonies, English garden roses, Hypericum berries and greenery touched with coral accents "suited the old-world charm I had envisioned." The newly minted couple, serenaded to Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me," took the floor for their first dance. The guests, treated to "oldies but goodies" dined and danced the night away. And what vintage themed reception would be complete without a sparkler filled send off, departing in a classic 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, riding off into the moonlight. Lindsay recalls that "Only for a moment, just before our first look, did I ever feel the slightest bit anxious. Then and now, I felt so overjoyed and confident to share the rest of my life with my soul mate." And that's what dreams are made of! ^

I NEED FOOD!

ne consistent part of every wedding reception is food. From heavy canapĂŠs to a sit down dinner, food is an important aspect and for some, a daunting challenge finding balance among cost, presentation, variety and taste.

Something must be made very clear right off the bat! There is no right or wrong per se' and I am not advocating one over the other. The fact is that whether you choose an eatery's catering service or a professional catering service, this is an important decision and you should know what you are getting into before hand. First, let's take a look at some of the main differences between the fast food or general restaurant chain that has the flashing sign saying "we cater" or "we're great at parties" to a bona fide caterer. The definition of a caterer is simply someone who provides services of food and drink, at an event, professionally. Aha, there is the word "professionally." This means they do this for a living and, if they are good at it, are usually sought after so book them early. It is not a sideline or simple way to supplement income. These are serious folks and having a professional cater your reception or event means they have the ability to either bring prepared food or prepare food on site. They have the staff to prepare, serve and clean up, leaving you to enjoy your party. Think about what your time is really worth. In the grand scheme, a pro caterer can be very competitive. Caterers, such as Ladyfingers Catering or Venue 104, put great thought into their menus which offer a very different fare from restaurant food. Caterers often can customize a menu or create one just for you. Be sure to discuss the possibilities with them. Typically, when you visit with one, you will discuss potential guest counts, budgets, types of food and how it is to be served. This is also a point where you may discuss full service or drop off. Full service means just that. The caterer takes care of virtually everything from getting the food there, to serving, waiting on your guests and finally, cleaning up. There are often different cost levels associated so discuss the different levels of service they offer. If the caterer offers drop off service or you choose that service, this means they simply bring the prepared food to your event and you, your family, friends and in some rare cases, the venue, have the responsibility of serving and cleanup. Do a tasting! If a caterer specializes in southwestern style food

and you don't typically care for southwestern flavor, that caterer may not be for you. But they will often surprise you so be sure to schedule a tasting if that caterer is someone you are serious about. But remember, a tasting is not a free meal. Please be mindful of the fact that tastings cost the caterer time and money. A great place to sample food is at a bridal show. Respectable caterers and restaurants often do shows and bring delectable tidbits for you to sample. Most of the chain restaurants who offer catering work quite differently. The restaurant is still the restaurant. You are basically deciding how much food you think you need and buying in bulk, as it were, from either their normal menu or the limited selections on their bulk catering menu. For example, if you just love a particular eatery's chicken strips, instead of ordering the regular, single meal, you may receive a foil tin or tray of 60. Pick them up and off to your reception you go. There are a few that will actually deliver, but those are few. If this is a route you want to go, be sure to ask if they deliver and what the cost is. Check to see if they have a chart or suggestion of how many people a particular item will feed. Don't forget to build in a little extra, usually about 10% as it is a total bummer for your guests to run out of food. There are some restaurants, often local chains like InterUrban, who have a dedicated catering department. They operate just as, and are a professional catering service, offering the same or similar services, but the menu is based more on their restaurant menu or the food style of their restaurant menu. They also may have unique creations or can create something just for you so be sure to ask! The bottom line is to know what you are getting into. Be sure to ask lots of questions and make sure you understand the services you are getting, or not getting. The last think you want to have happen is a big surprise on your wedding day. This is a stress, that if planned for, can be avoided and allow you to enjoy your day!^

There is a plethora of wedding venues out there with so many options. The venue, food and photographic services are among the most expensive aspects of the wedding. Here are a few tips for setting your wedding venue budget. 1. Establish the amount you are willing to spend on the entire wedding. Until you know this figure, it is very difficult to gauge just how much you can spend on any particular item. 2. Decide what you are willing to spend on a venue. Percentages of the wedding budget for venues typically range from 25 to 50% on average depending on the level and popularity of the venue. 3. Check out an all inclusive or some inclusive venue. Some venues have packages which include food, cake, entertainment, tables, chairs, linen and more. These can often save you time and money. But be sure to do the math to make certain you are getting a good deal. 4. Don't be afraid to share your budget with your venue and other wedding vendors for that matter. Virtually all wedding merchants are willing to work with brides on a budget. Remember, it is harder for them to work with you if they don't have a reference point.

5. Do ask lots of questions. Find out every fee and charge that may be in question. Are there late fees? Do they charge for rentals being left overnight? Be sure to check on what costs are involved if your wedding runs late and you need more time. Knowledge is power; so know what you are getting into before you sign on the dotted line, and go forward with your wedding confidently!^

hank you notes. Just the mention of those three words often brings up overwhelming feelings of dread. In today's busy world, this "polite society" task, more often than not, gets lost in the shuffle.

In all honesty, I have been a huge offender when it comes to sending out thank you notes or cards. So for me, having a discussion on them may seem a bit hypocritical...and...as of this moment...quite frankly it is. That being said, with my credibility smashed to bits, I will pick up what is left of my shattered ego and pledge to change. If you have never been one for taking the time to send a note of thanks, this is your opportunity to get the skinny on them and let those who have done something nice, sent a gift or been a great client know how much you appreciate them.

According to Miss Manners (Judith Martin), "thank you notes should be written about 20 minutes after a present has been received, lest the enthusiasm for the gift die away." Ok, that may be a bit unreasonable but there is a point to be made. Let's face it, we are super busy and distracted these days and a thought is easily replaced by something new. We tend to forget things when this happens. Typically 14 days is considered the norm on thank you notes/cards. If you have passed this point, try not to throw up your hands in defeat. After all, not sending a thank you note is, quite honestly, never a good thing. On that note, a belated thank you card is never a bad thing; but should include a sincere apology and note of embarrassment for the delay.

For wedding gifts, thank you notes/cards should be sent out no more than three months after your wedding. You might consider writing a few cards a day rather than trying to sit down and write out a hundred. This will help ease the feeling of the task becoming daunting. Be sure to remember to send thank you cards to those who gave you money as well. When composing a thank you note, remember, it doesn't have to be the Gettysburg Address. A simple and sincere thank you message and acknowledgement of the gift is acceptable and try not to gush unless you truly mean it. On pre-printed cards, it is in poor taste just to sign your name. Boo if you do that one! Thank you notes need not be fancy but certainly should be more than a mere text message or email. While e-cards are very popular, they tend not to be looked upon with the favor of a printed or hand written note or card. Remember, it is the sentiment and simple act of taking the time to write and then drop a note in the mail that makes these special. Some folks have custom cards made or you can purchase ready made cards from stores and invitation suppliers. The point is that you honor the person that did something for you. Thank you cards are so much more than just a social grace. They let the recipient know that you truly do appreciate the time and thought that was afforded you. of adopting two beautiful children she lovingly cares for as their foster mother. The day Abraham had planned to propose was the day the adoption was to be final. For he would be unable to ask Marjorie until the adoption was completed. It was a beautiful day at the vineyard. Debra Sanders of D'Plazzo Wedding Planners had helped create a perfect spot for Abraham to propose. Along a beautiful tree lined road, Debra had lined the sides of the

road with flower petals and candle lanterns creating a wonderful setting for what was to come. The sun, shining through the trees nearing that golden moment, when the world seems to be set on fire with light, Abraham was getting nervous. He would not know, until Marjorie arrived, if the adoption was completed, allowing him to ask that wonderful question. As the moment neared, Abraham's

nerves and tension were palpable. A good friend of his, standing near the trees was gently playing the guitar, working his magic to ease Abraham's nerves, preparing for the sweet moment. Just before Marjorie is to arrive, Abraham gets word that the adoption is final. As family and friends guide her to the spot, she begins to realize what is happening. She walks up to him and everything he tried to rehearse just fell away and his heart, bursting with love and emotion lay in front of her. There he was, down on one knee, asking her to be his bride. With a rush of emotion, she said yes and the feeling of love filled the open sky as family and friends rushed in to share the joy of this day. Abraham was going to be a father as well as a husband and would love every single moment of the blessings God gave him.^

Photography & The venue

Some of the first things that are chosen for a wedding include the venue and photographer. Often, these are chosen prior to even purchasing the wedding dress! The venue and photographer are important wedding items to get locked down. But often times, the relationship between the photographer and venue is not thought of. The assumption being that any professional photographer can do a great job at any venue. Right? In a perfect world, this might be true, but this is hardly a perfect world and in this imperfect world, not every photographer does well in every situation. Some photographers are good in outdoor or "natural light" only. This means that they rely on light as it falls, to get a shot. Often times no other external lighting source is brought to the party and, in some venues situations, external lighting is very necessary. Most every really good photographer likes to shoot in natural light, so don't confuse preference with skill set. Depending on the situation, the really good photographer knows when to use reflectors and external lighting sources to properly expose an image. When choosing your photographer, check to see if they have shot at the venue you have chosen. Most really good photographers who have been around a while have photographed in nearly all of the popular

local locations. If they haven't shot in your particular venue, check their work to see if they have shot in a similar location. A word of caution! Price is not always a good way to choose a photographer. Choose based first on the work, then look at pricing. Be sure to take a good look at the photographer's work across the board. Does their portfolio look good in all situations? Does the lighting look consistent throughout or are there unusually stark differences or sharp inconsistencies in similar conditions? The point is to be sure to ask questions, especially if something looks amiss to you. The really good photographers will be happy to address any concerns you may have. You are putting a great deal of effort in your wedding plans and you want the photographs, usually one of the only tangible pieces left of your wedding, to show you and your day in the best possible light. Good and great photographers are prepared for virtually any situation as wedding photography is difficult. Lighting situations, shoot locations, etc., constantly change during a wedding; so choose your photographer wisely. If you do, you should be rewarded with amazing photographic memories of your big day!^

e love weddings, in case you didn't know, and especially love all of the wonderful ways in which ceremonies and receptions show the personality and style of each bride. But these beautiful moments don't just happen. Guests don't see all the hard work that goes into making it all happen. Whether it's the family, venue personnel, wedding planners, wedding merchants or combination of or all of the above, our experiences with weddings created these tips that might help you make the process a little easier.

Plan your design early. Waiting to put your decor design and decisions into action at the last minute is fraught with opportunity to forget important details. Knowing what you want to do and having a written plan of all the things that need to be done will help avoid unnecessary chaos. Consult with your floral designer. As part of your design plans, if they include floral, don't forget to include your floral designer in your plans. These folks are very experienced, especially in the logistics of setting up a wedding and can be of great help in turning your ideas into reality. Hire a wedding coordinator. It's a safe bet that you don't plan weddings every day. The reality is, making a wedding or event happen is a lot of potentially stressful work. A good wedding coordinator/planner knows the best people to make your dreams come true and in some cases, can help you save a dollar or two in the process.

Weddings are big events and you will want all the help you can get. But be sure that the people who are doing things for you know what to do. Creating a list of things for each person or persons to be responsible for will help them and you. But don't forget to give them a little thank you gift for all that they are willing to do for you. Let the people you have chosen or hired do their jobs. One of the hardest things to do is let go, especially if you are a control freak like me. While there is nothing wrong with keeping an eye on things happening, try not to micro manage. Unless something is truly going awry, odds your vendors and designated helpers are doing the jobs they were assigned. This will help you enjoy your day more and decrease your stress levels! Accept what you cannot control. Oh man, this one is probably my most difficult to achieve. But the reality is, no matter how well planned the event, something will go wrong or not work quite as planned. This is a reality. Events are put together by imperfect people and expecting everything to go perfectly is simply unrealistic. Accept reality, and boldly move on. At the end of the day, you will be married and all will be right with the world!^

fter the question has been popped, one thing that comes to every couple's mind is "where do we get married?" This is not always the easiest of questions to answer. There are so many different choices out there. However, there are things that every bride should know about choosing that perfect spot to say 'I do" and we sat down with Becca Hybl of Coles Garden Wedding & Event Center in Oklahoma City to see if we can find out a bit more about Coles and get

the skinny on some great advice when choosing your location. To those of you who may not be familiar with Coles Garden, they are a 13 Acre wedding and event center located in the heart of the Adventure District in Oklahoma City. Fully equipped and ready for your big day, they boast various outdoor garden areas, an indoor chapel and a royal banquet room in which to host your wedding. The grounds at Coles Garden are immaculately groomed and are simply beautiful with wonderful spots at every turn for stunning photographic opportunities. Becca shares with us that in her experience, "There are so many beautiful places to get married. The most important aspect of choosing a venue should be that it feels like you and your groom." caution "Don't try and mold yourself and your style around a certain venue. Find the one that feels like you. It should be comfortable and feel like love." More and more, we are seeing venues that call themselves an "all inclusive" venue and Becca explains what that means. "We do consider ourselves to be "all inclusive." "Many venues will do a rental fee for the room or grounds but it does not include any service or product. At Coles Garden, we offer a full service experience. Our packages include the facility space, all tables, linens, chairs, china, glassware, flatware, catering, service, coordinators, set-up, and breakdown. Coles will also book your specialty vendors such as cake designers, disc jockey, florists and photographers." Coles has a "wonderful group of coordinators with different personalities and different strategies for making your wedding the most memorable day of your life. We also love working with outside planners and coordinators as well. You can never have enough creative, hardworking minds working together to achieve a common goal." Wedding venues such as Coles can actually help you stay within your budget. Becca explains that "there are many cost saving advantages to using a venue like Coles Garden. We have created many partnerships and relationships with some of the best vendors in the city. This allows

the bride to get the best deal possible by using those created partnerships and helps to shave dollars off her budget." But perhaps you have your heart set on a church wedding but would like a different place for your reception. A venue like Coles might just be what the doctor ordered as they have reception only packages available. Becca exclaims "We enjoy doing both types of packages." One thing Becca cautions is that "the bride and groom should ask as many questions as possible. Every venue is different and there are different rules and regulations at each and every space. If you are set on lit candles for your ceremony or on your reception tables, you might not be able to do so at certain venues. If you want a sparkler exit at the end of your special night, you will not be able to do so if you are in the city limits. Most venues will spell out these rules and regulations in your contracts, but always be protected by asking the questions up front." The best advice I can give the new bride choosing her venue is to "fall in love with your venue and the people who are running the venue. If you do not like the person you will be working with, that might be a sign that the venue is not the right fit. You are going to be working with the venue and staff for many months and sometimes longer than a year. Once you have chosen your dream location, jump in and enjoy the ride." est friends bring so much in to our lives and sometimes, they bring the rest of your life with them as Maguire met Tyler through her best friend and college roommate. Having grown up with her roommate in Woodward, OK, Tyler would come up to Stillwater, OK on weekends to visit. Tyler and Maguire would become fast friends and after two years, would start dating. It would be a long courtship, but after 4 years of dating, Tyler would pop the question over Easter while on vacation in Nashville with Maguire's family. Maguire knew she wanted a destination wedding in Cabo, after all, "everyone loves Cabo." She looked for the warmth and intimacy of close family and friends to say their vows while on a sandy beach with gorgeous ocean vistas. A palette of white with blush pink and neutral tones would be the order of the day for the decor. Assortments of white orchids, roses, mini roses and more, along with romantic lighting with lots of lace and chandeliers created an amazing, yet elegant vintage feel. The bridesmaids, clad in blush pink dresses brought an additional burst of color contrasting the deep hues of the ocean backdrop. The perfect setting to walk down the aisle in her lovely white lace dress by Monique Lhullier. This was the

moment of her dreams...the moment she would step into her future and take the hand of the man who she would spend the rest of her life with. Many wonderful things came together to make this dream destination wedding a reality and one suggestion Maguire has for all brides is to hire amazing wedding vendors and to have a great support system of friends and family to be there for you. Having the right people by your side can make all the difference. She also truly recommends to have great entertainment to keep everyone dancing. Maguire recalls of her wedding day that it was perfect. A very elegant, yet relaxed feeling and how much fun it was. A short, beachside ceremony, surrounded by close family and friends was everything she and Tyler wanted. She remembers that the pastor was amazing and funny, adding to the warmth and poignancy of this special moment. Then down the street to the beautiful beach club, the fun kicked up a few notches. "The flowers were so beautiful and the food was great too." From a hot band that kept everyone on their feet to, what Maguire feels, was "one of the coolest things," was the big, bright, full moon that hung over the ocean all night long. They could not imagine a better wedding. "I will never forget it. It was the wedding of my dreams!"^

Marriage Myths...BUSTED! by

1. Getting married kills your sex life. Quite the contrary, marriage can actually enhance your sex life. As a couple, you learn what your partner likes (or dislikes). Married couples tend to be far more comfortable trying new things as your trust levels for each other are much higher. 2. Getting married is old fashioned or obsolete. Studies show that better than half of both men and women still consider marriage to be an important part of their plan for life. While it is true that people are waiting longer to get married, an average age of 27, they still desire to tie the knot. 3. Husbands tend to cheat. While we can't promise that a particular guy, or gal for that matter, won't ever cheat, the odds are increasingly against this assumption. In the 1990's, studies suggested that roughly 20% of men cheated vs. 15% of women. In the last decade, those numbers have been steadily declining. 4. Living together builds a stronger marriage. Statistics suggest that couples living together before getting married may not find their marriages as satisfying as they thought they would be and chances of breaking up increase. One ray of sunshine however, is that couples who live together with the intent on getting married seem to have as much staying power as those who lived separately before being wed. 5. Great marriages are just lucky happenings. Oh poo on whomever started this one. Great romances begin with love, attraction and a bit of chemistry which often lead to marriage. That is just the beginning. Great marriages are made, tended to and worked on daily by both partners. The only luck involved is that which is created by the couple's daily commitment to each other's lives. ^

On October 8th, 2013, BridalifeStyle presented "Bliss & Bubbly Bridal Lounge" nestled inside of the innaugral Party & Event Expo. The goal was to create an envritoment where brides feel pampered while getting lots of inspiration for their wedding. We pulled together an incredible team of talented designers like Kindt Steven Myers with Oak Tree Country Club, Cole Dewey Designs, Jam Events & Productions, Mishelle Handy Cakes, Tony Foss Flowers, Paper8, and Venue104 Catering. They helped us create a Cocktail Hour Experience, a Ceremony Experience, and a Reception Experience, for all the brides. And the result was spectacular!

We love Cole Dewey's use of colors and textures in the flowers. It creates a wonderfully elegant, organic look and feel, full of fluffy texture. Combined with the dark wood chairs, perfect for a garden wedding, more sparkle was added with the crystal detail on the programs and sequins on the gift table linen.

Cocktail Hour Experience Jam Events & Productions created this seductive cocktail hour lounge area with lounge furniture, light up bistro and bar, along with modern floral design. The uplighting in this space also helps to create ambiance and can go a long way in seperating different function areas at an event.

Tony Foss Flowers pulled out all the stops to create the lush centerpieces for the Reception experience, and just look at this incredible cake swing complete with a floral bed for the cake that Mishelle Handy Cakes created, and lots of crystals! Venue104 Catering created scrumptious gourmet delights for all of the guests. Paper8 designed elegant menus for the occasion. All rentals were by Jam Events & Productions.

All Inclusive or A la Carte?

owadays, there is a veritable smorgasbord of places to get hitched. From chapels to churches, wineries to mansions and just about everything you can imagine in between, never has there been more choice on places to say "I do." But just as there are so many venue choices, so too are the varying options as to what is included with that venue booking. Taking a few things into consideration might make all the difference in your wedding budget and stress levels. We start with the "all inclusive" or what some may simply call the wedding chapel venue. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some are religious facilities, some are not, yet they all have one thing in common. Most of the key items like entertainment, catering, the wedding cake, ceremony music, minister and sometimes photography, photo booths and more are included in their packages. Often times they even offer a day of coordinator and will help you plan your day. Sounds perfect right? For many busy brides today, it is. So what's the downside? Flexibility and creativity can take a back seat or are sometimes not even along for the ride. The real success here is that most things are fairly standardized and on a more specific timeline which may not allow for a great deal of customization of the venue or event. Additionally, you may have a favorite caterer, entertainer or cake artist that you would like to use. Some venues will not permit outside catering or will charge a fee for outside catering. So be sure to ask what restrictions or fees are associated with this.

Choosing a venue that permits total a la carte is a whole different matter. In these cases, the only thing you rent that day from the venue, is the venue. There MAY be a facility person you can go to if there is a problem. You may also need to rent all the tables, chairs, linen, etc. You will need to choose all of your wedding merchants and, in these cases, hire a wedding coordinator to help you put all of this together, which we highly recommend. With good planning, costs can be similar to the all inclusive venue but watch your budget closely. When everything is separated, dollars can seem smaller than they are, but suddenly add up to a nasty surprise which is never fun. The upside, you have complete control and customization ability to have the wedding you want to create. This can be the ticket to the wedding of your dreams, unencumbered by can't do's. But remember, planning is everything to a stress free day so choose the venue that will work best with your love or hate of stress and pressure. You will be rewarded!

he most iconic part of any wedding is undoubtedly the wedding dress. There are so many styles to choose from and, until the right one hits you, the possibilities seem endless. But one thing you might want to think about while on your journey to find the perfect dress is the setting in which you plan to be married.

Whether you have your wedding venue picked out or not, you most likely have an idea of what kind of wedding you would like to have. Keeping this in mind while choosing your dress can help you better narrow down that perfect gown.

No matter what style of gown you choose, it truly has to be the one that is right for you. We merely suggest that by keeping the locale of where you plan to wear that dress in mind, you may save yourself some unwanted headache on one of the happiest days of your life.^

For an outdoor wedding, say a beach, vineyard, grassy field, etc., you may wish to choose a gown that has fewer layers and is not designed with as long of a train. Gowns with longer trains, particularly outside tend to get blown around and manage to find themselves tangled in the darndest things. Additionally, if it is hot outside, you may find your mind wandering to visions of the nearest fan instead of on the person you are marrying. Perhaps you may have chosen a charming little church that has a small center aisle. A huge ball gown with a five foot skirt may cre-

For the curriculum, sewing was a requirement and unfortunately, sewing was not her forte', "my mother could sew, she was meticulous, my sister could sew, but I could not," so she decided to change her program to merchandising and study

xquisite, masterpiece, heirloom, fabulous, inspired. These are but a smattering of the words used to describe fine, high end jewelry. When viewing Katharine James jewelry pieces, mere words, in our opinion, fall flat. Most assuredly, her pieces contain a magnificent sparkle and an almost other worldly feeling that sets the bar incredibly high. She then ups the ante by infusing into each of her designs the kind of thoughtfulness and warmth of heart that only Katharine is able to bring these fine works of art.

...one of the last things she was able to whisper in his ear was "dad, I am doing it. I am starting my own business." As a child, Katharine was fascinated by fashion design. Gleaning inspiration from Vogue patterns, she would modify these and create her own designs. Her mother, of Greek heritage was a masterful seamstress and would bring to life the designs Katharine had created. The fire and passion for design was burning intently within her. She would be found in all kinds of art classes, thriving on them, stoking the fires of her dreams. When the time came for her to finish high school, she decided that she would go to Brooks Col-

the business side of fashion. In her second year of study, she started with I Magnin and "fell in love with the company." When she graduated, she had a magnificent opportunity to move to their flagship store in San Francisco. Turning down a trip to Europe, she believed that this opportunity was a once in a lifetime chance and she grabbed hold with both hands. In time, she would move up into higher positions, learning and growing her passion for those things that, when you visit a fine boutique or store, tickle the heart. It would be during these years that she would return to Southern California and through her experiences with fine retailers in the late eighties, Katharine would come to realize that she was in the midst of what would become a designer renaissance. She found that she was in the right place at the right time. This was a tremendous and exciting time for her, meeting and working with designers such as Halston, Estee Lauder, etc., the seeds of her design future were being planted. Ultimately, she would find herself at the epitome of jewelry retailers, Tiffany's, and would find a world of knowledge that would be a valued part of her life forever. But while this was a fabulous experience,

there were even bigger places for Katharine to go. Working with high end designer Michael B, Inc., she would become part of their extreme success and eventually would become an integral part of the company, eventually becoming Vice President. Katharine's father had a great deal of confidence and faith in his daughter, especially with her career success, he always felt she would create her own company. In 2004, her father became ill and one of the last things she was able to whisper in his ear was "dad, I am doing it. I am starting my own business." After his passing, over the next year, Katharine would plan how she would build her business. After resigning from her current position, the very next day she incorporated and Katharine James, Inc. was born. Starting with one ring design, she would find a world that embraced her and thus began a line of incredible jewelry featuring the Juliet's Love collection, designed by Katharine that would bring her incredible success.

Through difficult economic times and a few health battles, Katharine James is once again skyrocketing, and with her Bella's Love collection, she has set the bar even higher and topped herself with a most incredibly exquisite line that you simply have to see to believe. The handcrafted quality of the settings as well as the incredible clarity of the diamonds will literally blow you away. Few designers ascend to such a high level and Katharine James is one of those designers who stands on the peak of Everest with her collections.^

nspiration comes from many places. For Justin and Dawn, a movie would inspire the magic. The two met in the 6th grade and time would see them become the best of friends and, even after many years and Justin's many tours of duty as an Army Ranger, it seemed inevitable that something magical was going to happen. It was in the late spring of 2007, the stars aligned and this couple, who knew each other almost all of their lives, these best friends, finally began to date. While walking together at Lake Hefner, Dawn was marveling at the sweet, natural beauty of the ducks and geese. She turned around and found Justin, down on one knee. Justin was barely even able to speak the words before he was bombarded by Dawn's exuberant yeses! She grabbed the ring from his hands and knew she was going to marry her best friend and sweetheart. It should come as no surprise that the movie, about best friends and life long sweethearts, The Notebook, would be the catalyst for the look and feel of the perfect wedding....Dawn's perfect wedding. She recalls how she loved everything about the style of the time frame of the film, classic, yet modest. A 1940's rustic picnic feeling

with children playing, great food and lots of dancing. A major character in this wedding would be the location and when Dawn pulled up to Rosebrook Vineyard, she recalls it was like a dream come true. Strands of white lights, a quaint farmhouse and a 100 year old barn greeted her and, with the help of coordinator Debra Sanders of D'Plazzo Wedding Planners, Dawn's inspired dream was about to become a reality. Originally the plan was to be wedded in a beautiful pecan grove, but Oklahoma weather had other plans and it became a gray, rainy and blustery day. But even through the stresses of all of the raw emotion and rain, it would be family and the precious love shared that would rule the day. With encouragement of those she loved, she was reminded to simply take the day in and, when she entered the barn and saw Justin for the first time, as her waiting groom, the excitement overwhelmed her. Dawn's mother was her rock that sweet day and helped calm her and reassure her that everything was perfect. Dawn couldn't wait to get down that aisle to her soon to be husband. Expensive Couture? Just because it is couture, it doesn't necessarily mean it has to cost more than a regular store dress. You can go to a big box store and buy a $1200 dress. Come alterations, depending on the type of alterations, you could spend hundreds of dollars more. Maybe, after alterations, that dress actually costs you $1500 or more. And even then it may not fit you perfectly. When you have a dress custom made for you, there are no alterations because the dress was cut just for you and your body shape. So a custom, $1200 dress is still $1200 because there are no additional alterations to be done.

t is a scenario as old as the institution of marriage itself. Finding the perfect gown in which to wed the person who you will spend the rest of your life. For some, the task is pretty straight forward. But for many, finding the right combination of elements that bring just the right look and rush of emotion is more of a challenge. For Elli, this was a tremendous challenge. The dress she was looking for just didn't seem to exist. After an exhaustive search both in state and out, she simply could not find the dress that fit her dreams. So Elli contacted Moe of Bridal Maison in Oklahoma City. Moe is a 5th generation tailor with over 50 years of experience in the craft and art of creating fine, custom couture gowns. It was this experience and craftsmanship that would not only create the dress of Elli's dreams, but once completed, would be regarded as a personal masterpiece. We took the opportunity to visit with Moe, the designer and creator of this masterpiece, and chat with him about his and Elli's experience and what sets the couture experience apart from the everyday wedding dress.

I have many clients from all over the country. As a couture dress maker, I remove the middle man and reduce the cost of the dress. There are several factors that determine the cost of a dress, like detail, labor involved and materials used, but a dress that may have a retail price of, say $8000, may actually be reduced by as much as half because it is custom created for her locally. There are no factories to pay or sales representatives commissions. It is just you and me creating your dream dress together. The $99 Dress A couture dress cannot compete on price with an on sale dress. Unfortunately that is the way it is. But remember, dresses that are in those sales are often samples, irregulars or lower grade materials; polyester instead of silk. If a bride can find a dress from these, I think she is smart to save the money. But if she is looking for her dream dress, a sale like this is an unlikely place to find it. More often the cheap dresses get the bride in the store and they find dresses they like better and still end up spending more money than they thought. Inspiration & Collaboration The inspiration for Elli's masterpiece gown was a magnificent emerald and diamond necklace. The result would be crafted bling that would stand out. This the dress she wanted. She came to me and said I have looked here and looked there and not found the dress I want. This, the dress she described, inspired by the necklace, is what I designed for her. I designed the dress she wanted. We found the fabric she wanted and then she asked for crystals to be added to the fabric which were all hand applied. After all of the design work, this was the dress, she thought, and I thought, would look good on her.

The Couture Difference According to Moe, the differences are the way the dress fits, what you really like versus what you settle for, and being able to find the dress you dreamed of. You go to a big box store and yes, you can buy a beautiful dress...but is it your dream dress? Do you just settle for it because you feel you have no other choice? The difference is the fact that we custom create your dress, the way you want it... your dream dress. The dress you buy at the big box store is not made for you, it is made for everybody...that is the real difference.

This dress and most custom dresses become a collaborative effort. I never tell the client that the design has to be my way or the highway. She can bring me pictures of things she loves from various dresses and we can put it together and I will share my opinion with her. Now, if a bride comes to me with an idea, we look at it and I feel it will be unflattering or not look good on her, I will let her know. If she insists that this is the dress she wants, I will have to refuse to make it because I know it will not look good on her and I want her to look beautiful. I cannot lend my name and reputation to a dress that I know will not look good on the bride. A Different Experience

pet and appliances. So just like that, we build the basic frame of the dress to ensure it works. If I don't like it, I will explain why and what we can do differently to make it flatter her body. Otherwise I will not make the dress if I know it will not look good on her. If I make the dress and she doesn't like it, I will lose the client and my good name. The bride receives a great deal of attention during this process. The reason we do 4 fittings is the fact that as time progresses, her body may change. Perhaps she gains or loses weight. I want her to have the maximum opportunity to have that dress fit her perfectly. I took the responsibility of making her look her best on her wedding day. I take that responsibility very seriously.

Is this like going to a chain store to purchase the dress? Oh no, it is completely different. When you go to one of those stores, the dress is presented to you as it is. If you want to make changes to the dress, you begin to increase the cost of the dress through alterations and depending on how extensive those alterations are, you can spend hundreds just trying to change the dress to your liking. People come to me with a particular style dress to alter. If it works for them, great! But sometimes the dress they came in with isn't flattering and I will let them know. Sometimes they don't like to hear me say that. But it's ok. I have been in this business for 50 years. It is the principle of the thing. I want her to look her best and I try to explain why something will not work for you. We do four fittings. The first is a muslin cut to ensure that this cut will work for a particular body. It is just like building a house. You first build the design before you purchase the car-

Project: Elli's Dress

" I want people to see the dress on the day and be amazed. I want people to see the photographs and be amazed. I want people to look at the dress and ask where you had it done." One of Elli's many fitting appointments.

Usually we tell people to give us at least 2-3 months of lead time. However, we have done a dress in as little as 48 hours for emergencies. Not that I recommend it but we can do it. We are basically a miniature factory ready to create your dress. Most shops do not have a tailor or alterations person in house. That is a problem I don't have. I have people in place 6 days a week, available to create or alter a dress. I don't play around. Because of this, we have the ability to turn things around considerably faster. A gown of the level that was created for Elli was a much more intensive project. So with her gown, there was a tremendous amount of manual work involved and it took longer to complete. With the amount of work that went into her dress, in New York, it would have been at least a $12,000 gown. That is a lot of money but as you can see, we can create a dress of that level. But the average custom dress is more in the $1000 to $1500 range typically. Brides even have the option of making payments on the gown so they don't have to come up with the entire amount when ordering the dress. After deciding on the design, Moe began the search for the lace material that emulated what Elli wanted and had it shipped in from New York for her approval. Now, having the material in hand, they both sat down and discussed the design elements of the gown in great detail. In the design of the gown, I created what I believe, was the perfect gown for her. I asked her details about her fiancĂŠ, like how tall he is, how much he weighs, etc. I ask all these questions and some people tell me it is none of my business. But it IS my business. If I have a bride that is 5'9" and a groom that is 5'4" the cut and design of the gown matters. They have to look good together. If I don't ask those questions and ignore the groom, the dress may overpower him and they don't look as good as they should as a couple. I take all these things into consideration. I want people to see the dress on the day and be amazed. I want people to see the photographs and be amazed. I want people to look at the dress and ask where you had it done. This is my reputation and I want the bride to look beautiful not only on her wedding day, but forever as she looks back to that day in her photographs and in those photographs Elli absolutely shined. From the perfect fit to the bling complimenting the necklace that inspired the dress, Elli simply looks amazing. You cannot help but see it in her eyes which sparkle almost as much as the gown itself. This is Elli's dream dress and because of the couture experience and the talents of people like Moe, she found what she truly wanted and didn't have to settle for second best. n almost every wedding I have photographed, one room that gets almost no attention is the room that the groom and his guys get ready in. Everyone focuses on the bride's room and with a few venues being the exception, the guys get hosed. They often get stuck in the nearest broom closet that often doesn't even have a mirror, while the bride gets a large, comfortable space in which to get ready. Well it is time to stand up for groom's rights and doggone it, contrary to popular sentiment, the groom actually IS important to the wedding....after all, she can't get married without you can she?!?! All we are really suggesting is that the guys have a place to get ready in which there might be a few creature comforts. Be sure to have food or snacks and bottled water for the guys. Chances are your groom is just as nervous as you are and has forgotten to eat in all the frenzy. It is also really nice to provide a mirror so the guys can

see how beautiful and sex they look before going out on stage. I can tell you how many times I have seen guys trying to adjust their ties in the reflection of a tv that doesn't work. Speaking of TV's... It is really a nice thing if perhaps arrangements can be made, especially if the wedding is on a game day, to have a TV so the guys can keep up with the scores. Remember, they guys are often in the room for up to 3 hours before the wedding and it gets boring in there having to come up with meaningful conversation for all that time! Guys, demand your rights! This is your wedding too and is it really asking that much just to be a little more comfortable? Just sayin'.^

Who Should I Send A Thank You To? Anybody who gives you a shower, engagement or wedding present. Even though you have thanked the person who gave you a gift, notes should be given to those people who contributed to or helped with your event, a gift.

^ Your wedding attendants.

Remind these special people how much they mean to you and why they are in your wedding.

^ Anybody who gives you a gift of money.

While this seems obvious, it does get overlooked. You don't have to mention the amount but it is helpful to them if you do. They will also love to hear what you will did with the money.

Usually sent within a couple of days of the event, each host or hostess should be thanked individually and receive a small thank you gift.

^ Those that entertain or give your wedding guests a place to stay. hemistry and physics, for most of us, aren't the first thing that comes to mind when pondering the notion of finding the person you will spend the rest of your life with. But for Julie and Ben, a chemistry class at the University of Tulsa would be just the beginning. It was in this class that Julie saw Ben for the first time. Noticing him wearing what she has come to know as "one of his infamous fuzzy hats and spaceman pajama pants." She was "intrigued" by this and decided to find out more about this guy. After a "poke" on Facebook, a rather bold move on Julie's part, that was well received and impressed Ben; he invited her to join him on his 21st birthday that week where they "really hit it off." Over the years, as their relationship grew, they would find they have many differences defining the old physics adage of "opposites attract." But they would find that there were also many similarities too! This combination makes for a wonderful romance and that "at the end of the day, love was the bond that held our chemistry together." So it would be, one summer on a trip to Vail, Colorado, Ben would pop the question. But this didn't happen in just any old place. The couple

began an adventurous and exciting climb up the 14,000 foot Mount of Holy Cross. After five hours, arriving close to the top, they sat down on a flat rock to rest. Sitting together, in the quiet, as their eyes beheld the spectacle of the world below them, "It was there that Ben asked me to marry him." Julie remembers that Ben's proposal gave them the energy to climb back down the mountain and from there on, they spent the rest of their trip exploring Colorado on what she dubbed the trip, their "engagement-moon." Julie and Ben wanted to be married in Tulsa. Not only was it Julie's hometown, it was special to her because she met Ben, at college there. While in school, the young couple enjoyed the many venues and nightlife that the city has to offer. One of those places was the Mayo Hotel. Julie recalls that she "loved the high-rise ceilings, the chandeliers, and the beautiful view of downtown Tulsa." She knew this is where they wanted their reception. The color purple is majestic and Julie felt it fit her bold and fun personality perfectly! Knowing right from the start this color would be part of the palette, she didn't want the color to be too overbearing. and, with Sharon's assistance, Julie was guided to a gorgeous palette of purple, silver and shimmer, making her goal of a beautiful, elegant look come to life, while still being fun. This sense of fun can be found in the pop of color in the floral bouquets. The ceremony was held at First Presbyterian and, Julie's Dad, being from India, and having grown up loving the colors, sounds, food, etc., associated with the Indian culture, she wanted to incorporate this heritage into her wedding ceremony. Inspiration for the ceremony design came about from a trip to India she and her father took to pick out the wedding outfits for the two families. Reds, oranges, yellows and gold accents came in to play to represent the traditional Indian dress. Lavender strings added to the backdrop and to the women's hair was a personal favorite as Julie recalls the scent was incredible! On the wedding day, Julie, feeling like a "whirlwind of flowers, makeup and hair all up until the ceremony," remarkably, doesn't remember being nervous...just excited "to finally get to marry the man whom I consider my soul mate." "When I got on the stage with Ben, everything else around me seemed to disappear." Julie does wish that she had listened to her Mom more. Feeling that sometimes, she may have been a little too stubborn to hear the wise advice offered. "I know now to always listen to those who have gone through weddings before you. They know more than you think." In reflecting on her wedding day, Julie said that some of the best advice she received was not to stress about the details on the day. Everything may not go exactly how you planned, but at the end of the day, you're married to the man you love. For Julie, the day was truly breathtaking. The feeling of it "just being her and Ben taking their vows in the eyes of God." She kept thinking to herself how blessed they were to be able to celebrate their wedding with friends and family.^

Old Fashioned Glazed Ham

Ingredients 1 Fully cooked, Bone-In Ham. 1 20 ounce can of Pineapple slices, reserve the juice 1 small jar of Maraschino Cherries 1 cup of light brown sugar, firmly packed 2 tablespoons of yellow (prepared) mustard 25 whole cloves (optional)

Directions 1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees or as directed on the ham package. Remove all outer packaging including the netting. Score the fat side of the ham with a chef’s knife making diagonal cuts about 1 inch apart to form a diamond pattern. Place ham on a rack in a large baking pan with the scored fat side up. Cover with foil and bake according to the directions on the package, usually about 12-14 minutes a pound. 2. In the last 20–30 minutes before the ham is fully warmed, remove from the oven and arrange the pineapple rings decoratively on the top of the ham, securing with toothpicks. Place Maraschino Cherries in the center of the pineapple rings, again securing with toothpicks. If desired stud pineapples with whole cloves. 3. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, mustard and only enough of the reserved pineapple juice to make a thick glaze. Use a basting brush or spoon to cover the ham with the glaze. Return the ham to the oven, uncovered, for the remaining 20-30 minutes. Remove the ham from the oven and let rest about 15 minutes before carving.

Split Pea Soup with Ham

Ingredients: 3 tablespoons butter (or Olive Oil) 2/3 cup yellow onion 2/3 cup diced celery 1 cup medium diced carrots 2 cloves garlic, minced ½ teaspoon dried oregano 1-1/2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 cup medium diced red boiling potatoes, unpeeled 1 pound dried split green peas 8 cups chicken stock 1 meaty ham bone ½ cup diced ham (sautéed in butter, if desired)

Directions: Melt butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, carrots, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper and cook about 5 – 10 minutes. Add potatoes, ½ pound of split peas, and the chicken stock. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for 40 minutes, skimming off the foam while cooking. Add the remaining split peas and the meaty ham bone, continue simmering for another 40 minutes or until all the peas are soft, stirring frequently to keep from scorching on the bottom. Season to taste. Remove ham bone and serve soup hot. If desired, garnish with sautéed ham.

Pan Grilled Monte Cristo Sandwich Ingredients: 8 slices of French bread 8 thin slices of cooked ham 4 slices of Swiss cheese 4 eggs 1/3 cup of milk 3 tablespoons butter Powdered sugar (optional) Your favorite jam or preserves (optional)

Directions: Place 2 slices of ham and 1 slice of cheese on each of 4 bread slices. Top with the remaining bread. In a shallow dish beat together eggs and milk. Dip sandwich in egg mixture, turning carefully, until all mixture is absorbed. Melt butter in a large skillet or on a griddle. Carefully transfer sandwiches to the pan and cook slowly for about 15 minutes. Carefully turn and continue cooking for about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to a plate cut on the diagonal and sprinkle with powdered sugar serve hot with jam or preserves on the side. Alternatively, you can use 4 slices of ham and 4 slices of turkey.

Breakfast Frittata

Ingredients: 2 tablespoons cooking oil 3 frozen hash brown patties 1 cup diced ham 1 small red pepper, diced 1 small onion, diced 1 cup asparagus, medium diced 12 eggs ¼ cup milk 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Heat oil in oven proof skillet and cook the hash browns until golden. Remove hash browns and set aside to cool. Add pepper and onion to the pan and sauté until tender. Add ham and brown a minute more. Crumble cooled hash browns into skillet. Whisk eggs and milk together and pour mix into skillet. Immediately place skillet in oven. Bake 18-20 minutes or until frittata is puffy and doesn’t jiggle. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake for 2-3 minutes longer or until cheese melts. Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before cutting.

First meeting in the summer of 2009 while on a college internship, Tiffany and Johnathan would find themselves on a wonderful journey together. However, it would be some time before that journey could really begin. It was from that point, Johnathan, would pursue Tiffany and finally, after nearly a whole year of trying to get her to go out with him, she relented. On May of 2010, their first date began and, from that moment, they both knew they were destined to be together. Both Tiffany and Johnathan have a strong attraction to the beach. So it was fitting that on a trip, with their best friends, to one of the Gulf Coast's most beautiful and romantic spots, Destin, Florida, Johnathan would ask a life changing question. It would happen after a romantic dinner; while strolling on a sunset blanketed beach, the gentle sound of the waves lapping upon the sand that "he turned to me and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him." Tiffany recalls thinking "how could a girl say no?" On February 1, 2014, Chelsea and Casey will tie the knot surrounded by eight bridesmaids, eight groomsmen, two flower girls, a ring bearer and one hundred and fifty people who adore them both. The ties go back most of their lives as they were in kindergarten together. But it wouldn't be until the day they were to vote on the 6th of November in 2012 when Casey spotted Chelsea on the way out. He sent her a message that night and to quote Chelsea "the rest is history." It would be when the time came for Casey to propose, it wouldn't "just happen." "Casey had a full day planned." He had a few surprises in store which included taking Chelsea to see the play "Wicked." Then after a romantic dinner at one of Chelsea's favorite restaurants, the couple walked around the Myriad Gardens. It was then that Casey, complete with photographer in the wings to capture the moment, "popped the question." It was then the newly minted engaged couple whooshed to the top of Oklahoma City for a champagne celebration at Vast while overlooking the lights of the city.

While Wesley and Melissa didn't necessarily grow up together, they were connected through family. Wesley played soccer on her Dad's little league team and both Wesley and Melissa's brothers were the same age and went to high school together. While on a trip to Arkansas to visit Wesley's grandparents in preparation for an upcoming ski trip, something special was brewing. After arriving for the weekend and being there for a few hours, his Grandfather "took the guys to do some work on the farm." Meanwhile, Melissa and his Grandmother were going to go look for elk down the road while waiting on the guys to return for dinner. The two hopped in the car and travelled up a side dirt road which Melissa knew there were no elk in that direction and her curiosity began to pique. Melissa's curiosity was soon satisfied when she saw Wesley standing on the road. "This was a very special location. A bluff along the Buffalo River." This was indeed a special place. For 58 years earlier, on this very spot where Wesley asked her to be his bride, his Grandfather asked his Grandmother to spend the rest of her life with him. Amy Simpson^Patrick Britton Meeting at the University of North Texas homecoming football game in 2008. A fun and exciting moment would bring Amy and Patrick together. At the time, Patrick was a college freshman and Amy, a senior in high school. Her brother lived in the same dorm as Patrick. Attending the game with a group of their friends, they had "decided to "paint up" and needed an extra letter." So it happened that "Patrick was the first "E" and I was the last "E" in "Meangreen." One weekend when Patrick's mother and brother were visiting, they all decided to go downtown Oklahoma City and visit the Myriad Botanical Gardens. As they were walking around and taking in the beautiful sights, "Patrick got on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said YES!" On the 15th of March, 2014, Amy and Patrick will say "I do" and begin their lives as husband and wife surrounded by their close family and friends.

Meeting in 2009, the first day of fall semester, Kalyn sat waiting for class to begin as Casey walked in. Scoping for a place to sit, he saw her and asked if the seat next to her was taken. She quickly moved her purse out of the way. He sat down and introduced himself and they started talking. When class was over for the day, Kalyn asked him to sit by her next class. They exchanged phone numbers and started dating that weekend! After three years, Casey suggested they have a photographer take pictures on the day of their anniversary. Kalyn was a little suspicious. This was a bit out of character for him. She began to wonder if he was going to propose but quickly dismissed it since she had told him "not to propose on a holiday or their anniversary." They headed to her family's farm to meet the photographer. "Casey was relaxed and calm so I didn't suspect anything but a photo session." After a few shots, Casey signaled the photographer as they started walking away, arm in arm. "I could hear the photographer snapping photos all around." "Then Casey grabbed my hands, turned me towards him and started talking about how happy he was, starting to get choked up and teary eyed." Still not realizing what was happening, Kalyn simply thought he was just being "really sweet." "Then he pulled the box out of his pocket and got down on one knee!" "After that moment, we both couldn't stop laughing, crying, kissing and hugging!" Kalyn dreamed of an outdoor, fall wedding that was romantic, fall themed and with a rustic barn as the backdrop. She wanted a day that would show all of the "beauty and magic of our love." Well love is one thing that this wedding was filled to the brim with. As a matter of fact, love would flood this day from the family with incredibly special touches that would make Kalyn and Casey's day truly unique and unforgettable. Kalyn's father, her fiancĂŠ and his father created benches from the stumps of trees on her family's land that had been downed by a tornado. Boards, stained and fastened to the stumps brought these trees back to life to give a wonderfully organic and "old west" feel to the event. Adding great warmth and

country color, vintage quilts from friends and family were scattered on the benches. Amazing details such as the canvas banner which the 2 ring bearers carried saying "Casey, here comes your girl" to wedding signs, directional signs, favors and more were created by Kalyn. She also designed the letter pressed invitations which were created locally by Fine Arts Engraving, in addition to the program, logo and favor bags. Two noteworthy touches are the bride's entrance and the garter. Doors from Kalyn's great grandfather's 1900's era farmhouse marked the point where she would begin her walk to her new life with Casey. As if these weren't amazing on their own, beautiful baby's breath garland and hydrangea wreaths perfectly finished this wondrous entry piece. The garter that Kalyn would wear was of history and heart. A friend fashioned material from her mother's wedding veil creating a very special touch and a link that she will always have with her mother. But it didn't stop there. From the glass ball chandelier, hand blown by Casey's father to the incredible 1937 Chevrolet truck that was restored by Kalyn's father, hearts were poured into this wedding and the palpable love shown to the couple was as tangible as the incredible pieces that were created. With the wedding coming up soon, everyone knew there was a chance of rain; but a backup plan of getting married in the barn and, with all the prepping and setup for the wedding, were welcome distractions from stressing too much. While getting ready, Kalyn noticed it raining but it didn't bother her. "I was totally ok with getting married in the rain." "I was very relaxed and at peace on my wedding day." The rain ended just before the ceremony, leaving just a light drizzle. Kalyn recalls it was "so romantic and the cloudy gray sky just brought out all the beautiful, rich colors of the flowers in the wedding." "I was filled with so much love and joy. Every moment was filled with so many happy emotions!" "I remember taking in every moment of that day but as soon as it was over, you are on this love, happy high, and my husband and I just laughed and said: What happend?"

A spontaneous proposal on Super Bowl Sunday was, in all likelihood, the last thing on Amanda's mind when it happened. In fact, the level of spontaneity itself surprised her. It was so spontaneous in fact that Steffen had yet to pick and engagement ring. Rather, he proposed with his grandmother's wedding band. The two had met during Amanda's first week of orientation at medical school. Steffen, was in a class two years ahead of her but that didn't stop them from becoming instant friends. Amanda recalls "it was like we had known each other forever." Amanda was not the typical bride. As a little girl, she wasn't one to pine and dream over what her wedding day would be. So when the proposal came, they found they had only about fourteen weeks to plan the wedding. Amanda's only priority was "to always remember what was most important." This was more than just a wedding....this was their marriage. "My wedding day was absolutely amazing." "It was so much better than I had expected." Amanda could only express her feeling about her wedding in one way: "It was pure joy!" "God blessed me with the most amazing husband and I was so happy to share that day with our family and closest friends." Amanda found a great amount of gratitude for her family and friends that helped her put "such an awesome wedding together in a very short amount of time." "All I wanted was to be married before I started residency," and on the 11th of May, 2013, it all came true.

Life's journey takes us through many twists and turns. It is along this journey that, through a mutual friend, Rio and Leah would step off their individual paths which they walked and find a greater road together. For when Leah laid eyes on Rio for the first time, the sparks flew and she was thunderstruck. She knew that this was the person she was going to spend the rest of her life with. As their relationship grew, it was in the fall of 2011 that would change everything. Rio knew that Leah, is a big fan of the Green Bay Packers. She felt compelled to take Leah on a trip to Wisconsin for 50 yard line, second row seats to a Packers game. "This was on her, Leah's, bucket list already." Up until about a week before they were to go, Rio managed to keep it a secret; which for Rio was really saying something. But there was more to this trip than meets the eye. While Rio was keeping her secret, Leah had one of her own. She was planning to ask Rio to spend the rest of her life with her. But trying to find the right moment, that was not so easy. So when Rio spilled the beans about going to the game, Leah had her opportunity. They arrived in Green Bay early on Saturday, the 15th of October. Rio's plan was to wait until they went to the game on Sunday to propose. That Saturday night, she had another surprise for Leah; an autograph and photo op with the Green Bay Packers players! Leah was ecstatic! It was later that evening, after the photo op, "right smack in the middle of dinner", that Rio just couldn't hold in her excitement any longer and popped the question. Leah said "of course I will," and Rio's heart just soared and she felt a great sense of relief now that "the pressure was off." Leah recalls that on the day of game, as they were walking around Lambeau Field, she, "with the ring in my pocket and Rio saying that she was glad she got it over with and didn't propose at the game," started to get nervous "because that was my exact plan!" "I was able to keep track of the ring and myself for that matter, and around halftime, I pulled the ring out and said: Now will YOU marry me?" Rio recalled this moment when "Leah whipped out a gorgeous, three stone diamond ring. My heart skipped (a beat) and of course I said yes!" Leah said she never knew that Rio was going to propose and this let Rio know that she had found her soul mate. Living in Tulsa, Oklahoma, both Rio and Leah had no delusion of the challenges they were to face as their union would not be recognized by the State. However, they found inspiration in their love

for each other and realized that didn't matter if they had a piece of paper as long as their family and friends knew and could see their true love. Their union, held at Post Oak Lodge in Tulsa, would be a very warm and moving moment in time. There, on the hillside, overlooking downtown Tulsa, surrounded by their loving family and friends, Leah and Rio pledged their love and vows to love and care for each other as partners, forever. The exuberance of emotion pouring from Rio and Leah was palpable. Not a heart was untouched that day by the genuine sense of love they have for each other and how incredibly loved and supported they are by their family and friends. Rio recalls how complete this day felt "with the bridesmaids and groomsmen in dark red and us in white..." "...as we walked down the aisle, all I could see was Leah, everything else was a blur." "I knew, as long as we kept eye contact, I wouldn't realized I had 150 people staring at me." One of the most precious moments during the ceremony would be when Rio's father, John, stepped forward and began playing "Amazing Grace" on his saxophone. This precious moment was one of acceptance and love that came pouring out from his heart to his daughter and the new daughter that has been brought into his life. As the emotions ran high, few barely even realized that, after playing the song, he then began to play "Here Comes The Bride." The moment burst with emotion as Rio recalls "the beautiful sound of the sax, filled the air, an amazing moment I will never forget." "Before I knew it, we had looked into each other's eyes, recited our vows and were dancing back down the aisle, this time as wives!" At the reception in the clubhouse, their friends and family received them enthusiastically. Surrounded by tables adorned with autumn centerpieces and votive candles along with "small bulbs of light, hung from the ceiling, as if we were in a dream." "We were so happy to finally show our friends and family just how much we meant to each other!"

Meeting through a mutual friend at their home, Nathan and I sat together, talking and singing along to the acoustic tunes created by talented musicians who were among our friends. We laughed the whole night long and every day since. On July 16, 2011, the evening before my birthday, Nathan took me out...to our favorite restaurant and, after dinner, standing outside admiring the beautiful area, he dropped to his knee in front of everyone and said, "I can't see myself spending the rest of my life with anyone else but you." He then pulled out a box containing a gorgeous, white gold, marquee diamond ring. People around us cheered as I said yes! Our wedding day was more than we imagined it could be. We were blessed to have close friends and family help set up our beautiful wedding. Ivory lanterns adorned the trees and floating lights glistened in the pool, lighting the gardens of beautiful flowers my mother-in-law had planted for our special day. The wedding decor, inspired by my love for rustic nature and fall weather, was a vision of a vintage, outdoor wedding enhanced by skeleton keys, pearls and ivory lace. Antiquing and thrifting came in handy when planning the wedding. We found most of the decor at small sales, antique stores and thrift stores. We found brandy glasses that we filled with water, topped with floating candles and tied skeleton keys. We added pearl strands around the base with ivory lace. The dress was a work of art. Beautiful lace in ivory, with an open, skeleton keyhole on the back. The dress, a vision locked in my mind which Moe of Bridal Maison, had sketched perfectly from my description. That is when I knew I could trust him to create my dream dress. The wedding took place in a beautiful pasture surrounded by trees on the property where Nathan's family lives. We both knew it would be the most sublime and meaningful place to share our vows. Feeling like a princess for the first time in my life, nerves began... as my Mother zipped up my dress, placed my pearls on me and carefully made sure everything was perfect. My Father came into the room...my jaw dropped at the sight of how handsome he looked. Then I said "it was time." As my Father walked me down the aisle, our good friend Kyle, sitting under a tree, was playing favorite songs on acoustic guitar. The first being "Just Breathe." I took a deep breath and laid eyes on Nathan. Once I saw his face, everyone around us disappeared and I felt an overwhelming sense of calmness, knowing I would be with my best friend forever.

Elli and Hamid's wedding took place on the 1st of September, 2013 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. It was a spectacular wedding with a guest count of over 500 filled with amazing details. From the beginnings of when these two met, one might not have expected this event to be the result of their very random first meeting. While in Las Vegas, Elli was shopping. Hamid came up to her and began to talk to her. He then asked for her phone number. She gave him her email and proceeded to tell him "I don't give my number to strangers." Moving forward...and a number of emails later... on a romantic trip to Hawaii, Hamid proposed in a way worthy of Cinderella. One of the keys to Elli's wedding surrounded a magnificent necklace of emerald pendant, surrounded with diamonds clinging to her neck by a diamond studded chain. This beautiful piece began an inspiration for a masterful creation, her wedding dress, designed and executed by Moe of Bridal Maison by Moe. Dressed to the nines in a beautiful couture mermaid style, lace wedding gown; the dress sparkled by the painstakingly, hand applied crystals accenting the special lace design. The dress, as it should be, would become a centerpiece around which the entire event would revolve. The ballroom too, was dressed to the nines and brought to life with magnificent florals designed and created by Tony Foss of Tony Foss Flowers. The tables, white with green sashes on the covered chairs, presented a wonderfully clean, elegant, yet understated look to the room. One very notable detail was the wedding cake, created by Mishelle Handy of Mishelle Handy Cakes placed on a stunning ice sculpture base, brought a stunning visual that every guest could marvel upon as well as other titanic proportioned sculptures of ice which became wonderful photo opportunities for the guests. The event, filled with amazing sights, food and friends was the celebration of the year. A poignant moment came for Elli when she would take to the dance floor as a married woman to dance with her father. She dreamed of a classy and elegant affair and "Thanks to Moe and his daughter Nicole, everything was the way I always pictured it would be."

Jennie Hunt Kyle Blankenship September 22, 2013

On September 22, 2013, Jennie and Kyle made their dreams come true by saying their vows at Harwelden Mansion in front of approximately 130 of their friends and family. Time warp back to New Years Eve 2012 at a country dance hall named Cowboys. It was this night that they would be introduced through friends. While their friends had no idea if they would even get along, any fears of this would wash away. Kyle would soon teach Jennie how to "two-step" and the two would have a wonderful time. Later that evening, the big moment occurred at midnight. It was a brand new year and Kyle asked Jennie for a kiss. "We have been together ever since." It was on the first of February that Jennie would come home from work and find Kyle asking for help hanging up photos in his office. Upon entering, her eyes were filled with the view of "patio lights hanging up and wires that had photos of us since we had begun dating, hung with clothespins." It was in the midst of taking all this in that Jennie suddenly found Kyle, "down on one knee, holding my ring and I screamed...he gave me the sweetest speech, hugged me and I said yes, of course." Kyle, a soil scientist and Jennie, an artist have a genuine love of nature and Kyle is particularly fond of fall. The couple wanted a wedding that not only reflected their love, but felt intimate and natural, gathering inspiration from raw woods, pumpkins and wheat. Harwelden fit the bill perfectly; lending a welcoming feeling of home helping to make the guests feel welcome and comfortable. "All of the dark finishes of wood is really what sold (us) the moment we walked in. We knew it would match very well with our theme." The wedding day, as you would expect, was a big one for Jennie. Wishing she had given herself more time to get ready and had delegated more, she was feeling a bit overwhelmed. "There were moments when all I wanted to do was cry and cry from happiness and moments when I felt upset that things were not going exactly as I had envisioned." But Jennie recalls that her favorite part of the day was the ceremony. "I could have had no guests or a million and I would not have noticed. Being able to look into my husband's eyes and know we are starting our lives together is the moment I will never forget and will never stop cherishing." "At the end of the day, I realized how blessed I am to have people who care so much. Our families gave up a lot of their time to put everything together...To me, those things were impossible to ask for and I could never fully explain what a truly remarkable experience that day was because of them."

Elizabeth Inbody Nicholas Pennell October 19, 2013

Elizabeth and Nick discovered each other in the 6th grade, go on to high school together and became great friends over the years. When college time came, they would go their separate ways but would still stay in touch. After graduating college, they started to date and eventually moved to Breckenridge, Colorado. On a beautiful July day, on the top of Peak 8, a mountain in Breckenridge, that Nick "went down on one knee and asked me to marry him." This place had a bit of a history for the newly engaged couple. Just 4 years earlier, this was the spot that Nick brought Elizabeth and asked her to move with him to Colorado. The mountain high moment was celebrated with accompanying friends, capturing this precious moment on video, sharing a bottle of wine and toasting the couple from on top of the world. The wedding was almost upon them and something was worrying Elizabeth. The day before she was to take the next big step in her life, she was greeted by a cold, rainy, dreary day. The wedding was to take place on the North Plaza of the State Capitol and no doubt, concern and nerves were growing. But the worry slipped away as they were greeted with a bright, sunny wedding day. A very poignant moment during the wedding was the Irish hand binding ceremony. Elizabeth's grandmother was full Irish and this was a wonderful and heartfelt way to honor her. The Irish Blessing, read by her cousin, accompanied this moment as the fabric of the bind, from her grandmother's scarves, gently wrapped around the young couple's hands with the warmth of a sweet and blessing embrace. Another precious and thoughtful touch that honored family history was the bouquet; made by Elizabeth's mother from old family brooches and wrapped in material from her mother's wedding dress. The reception, filled with vintage romance, was clad in muslin and burlap on the tables with centerpieces of baby's breath and lavender in mason jars. Guests were greeted by tulle covered lights running down the center of the tables. Mix-matched china and silver, with wine glasses and mason jars added to the charm of this day. Craft beers from both Colorado and Oklahoma awaited the guests. The planning process is not always the easiest of jobs, but for Elizabeth and Nick, they learned to relax and realize that there are simply some things that are out of your control and to just try your best to stay true to yourselves. Elizabeth recalls "it couldn't have been more perfect. Everything was wonderful and represented the two of us. The night was full of laughter, music and dancing!"

Meeting through a mutual friend, the relationship that sprang up for Hailee and Claude was not going to be a typical one. For when the time came for Claude to ask Hailee to spend the rest of her life with him, it would not be done in the ordinary way. Most proposals begin with romance. Perhaps a candlelit dinner, a path of rose petals to a decked out spot, a spectacular evening on the town or even a simple walk along the shore of a lake; these are the storied proposals that are usually the stuff dreams are made of. But for Hailee, her proposal would begin with Claude actually picking a bit of an argument with her. After a few moments of this, he then asked her to touch his pocket. He then pulled out a precious little box holding the ring and as he got down on one knee, that most magical of life changing questions stood right before Hailee...will you marry me? After such a unique and colorful proposal, it should come as little surprise that color would play a significant role in the wedding itself. Shades of purple and blue were the order of the day and while there were many wonderful moments of the wedding planning process, the realization that a wedding was now upon them would bring a little reality into their lives as the couple would soon learn the challenges of getting guests to RSVP. As a matter of fact, for Hailee, this would be "the most challenging process about the wedding." But for Hailee, her wedding day was "simply amazing!" "I felt beyond excited to marry my best friend and the day was perfect." This what dreams are truly made of and for Hailee and Claude, those dreams came true.

Morgan and Cameron began dating in their junior year of high school. It was after a college visit while in their junior year that the two hit it off. In fact they had hit off so well, the two had their lockers next to each other. While visiting Morgan's aunt in California, the couple went out to dinner for their three year anniversary as a couple. The restaurant, called the Beachcomber, on the beach, overlooking the Pacific Ocean was a magical setting, for Cameron would propose beside a cliff just as the sun began to set. The wedding day itself began a little bumpy as nerves and a couple of cases of being under the weather with a few in the bridal party added a little tension to a busy day. But Morgan has the support of a very loving and caring family that helped ease the nerves. Morgan looked radiant. The excitement was so palpable you could almost touch it as if it was something tangible that could be held in your arms. Roxie, Morgan's mom was a Godsend as she helped to make sure Morgan's day went as perfectly as possible. As the time approached for Morgan to walk down the aisle, nerves and tension simply melted away as she saw her Cameron waiting for her. Knowing, especially now, how important it is to have the support and help from your family, Morgan realized just how loved she truly is. You should have seen the look in her mother's eyes as Morgan said her vows. No longer was she the little girl that Roxie had raised. She was a woman, beginning her new life, preparing to build a new family. The bittersweet tears of joy gave way to a pride only a mother can know. She was fulfilling a promise made to Morgan when she was born, the promise to teach her to be her own woman and find happiness. "It was amazing, I was filled with a lot of excitement and happiness. The wedding day was busy, but it went smoothly." Morgan wanted a classy and elegant wedding. The wedding was beautiful. The floral pieces that were created by Tony Foss of Tony Foss Flowers were spectacular. The arbor that was created especially to highlight the wedding cake was a sight to behold. The reception was a fantastic party that lasted into the night. All of the guests danced and partied happily and when the time came for Morgan and Cameron to say goodnight, they knew they were surround by love itself as they started their new lives together as husband and wife.

"It was very surreal to wake up knowing I was getting married that day. But it was a very comforting thought knowing I would be marrying such a wonderful person." Mary met Hunter at a "good ole fraternity party" as sophomores attending the University of Oklahoma. She muses that "I spotted the best looking guy in the room and snatched him." Mary, reflecting on how Hunter popped the question, recalls that he "told me we were going to have an anniversary date in Oklahoma City, but what we were doing was a surprise." Hunter took Mary to the Myriad Botanical Gardens and found the perfect, shaded spot, surrounded by flowers. He then dropped to one knee and asked Mary to be his bride. In the wings was an old friend of Mary's, Cindy Richey, who Hunter had photograph this precious moment in their lives. The wedding was to be a colorful affair with a classic, romantic feeling. Bold colors of red and orange, with bright purple accents abounded. But it would be the process of planning and putting this wedding together that Mary would discover that "Hunter is more amazing that I thought...some days he was the MOST helpful person." Knowing you are marrying a wonderful person, the right person, is a tremendous gift indeed and for Mary, this gift was one she received on her wedding day and will always treasure!
