COOL BRITANNIA You’ll be shaken and stirred when cabaret star Lizzie Moore (On a Night Like This) brings you the British hits that made the 60s swing. It was the sound of Swinging London: an explosion of pop riding the wave of the Mersey Beat. In a youth-driven revolution, the Brit Girls led the charge – female singers with white boots, miniskirts and bubbling confidence. They forged solo paths straight down Carnaby Street and on to the world stage. Cool Britannia is the sound of those times and you’ll hear Moore bring to life hits by 60s British legends Petula Clark, Lulu, Cilla Black, Shirley Bassey and Dusty Springfield. The show also follows the sound to today, with songs from the latest wave of talent inspired by the Swinging 60s including Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Adele.

TEX PERKINS AND THE DARK HORSES Savour the velvety growls of Australian rock icon Tex Perkins as he hits the cabaret stage with his critically acclaimed band The Dark Horses. Tex Perkins is undeniably a standout in Australian music. His career includes albums and tours with Don Walker and Charlie Owen, and the TNT project with Tim Rogers. He has also performed as frontman for iconoclastic 90s band The Cruel Sea, and gritty pub rockers The Beasts of Bourbon. With his rock, blues and ‘musician’s musician’ credentials nailed, he also went on to perform as Johnny Cash in national tours of the theatre production The Man in Black, which won him critical acclaim and a new generation of fans.

“Think of it – six mighty men of rock who like to roll tobacco/snares/home, each taking a back seat when they need to, practically doing a Victorian-era “After you, my good man,” when only a slide guitar is needed, or a shimmering organ or a lightly-shaken tambourine.” HERALD SUN

SO UNUSUAL: CONFESSIONS OF A LAUPER STALKER Direct from Alcatraz, a fan tells her story through a Cindi Lauper catalogue of hit songs, about her rise to infamy and her colourist brush with fame, fortune and the law. This new cabaret from musical theatre starlet Rebecca Grennan delivers the Lauper hits and plenty of laughs. Meet Sindi Lauper Gibson – daughter of a Kingston hairdresser and a musical theatre “wiggy”. In 1999 Sindi became a renowned colourist in a Darlinghurst salon, and developed an obsession for an 80s music goddess whilst perfecting her craft. Her talent, persuasion and persistence led her all the way to an apprenticeship with stylist to the stars, Justin Ware, and the opportunity to actually meet and colour the locks of her idol… Co-written by Troy Armstrong (The Devil Wears Leigh Buchanan) and featuring acclaimed musical director Peta Leigh Wilson, the show is an irrepressible romp through the best of Lauper, including “Time After Time”, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, “She Bop” and more.

ROB MILLS IS… SURPRISINGLY GOOD Be charmed by the irrepressible Rob Mills when he reveals his journey from Australian Idol contestant to acclaimed triple threat.

We all know ‘Millsy’ from the headlines – reality TV contestant, twitter scandals and THAT incident with Paris Hilton. Yet despite proving himself in the world of pop music, television and musical theatre, Rob has amassed twelve years of reviews that revolve around the notion that “considering we know him as that down-to-earth larrikin from Idol... his performance was surprisingly good”.

ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG Brisbane’s cabaret darling goes rock’n’roll for one night only! Jessica Papst brings you the songs and stories of iconic rockers taken before their time. Fresh from Adelaide Fringe Festival, Only the Good Die Young features Queensland’s winner of the International Cabaret Contest, Jessica Papst, and a knock-out three-piece band ready to tackle RnB, blues, funk and rock. Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Mama Cass and Kurt Cobain were all wildly talented and taken before their time. Hear their stories, and others, as Papst interprets their songs and celebrates their creative, complicated, rebellious and undeniably powerful stories.

“Jessica Papst is in possession of a fine, versatile instrument – her own voice – and she uses this gift in Only the Good Die Young... She also aims to lightly philosophise about the nature of mortality without losing her (or the audience’s) sense of humour.” THEATREGUIDE.COM.AU

TAKEN BY STORM Rock meets cabaret when international sensation Storm Large takes the stage. Direct from the US Storm Large is best-known for her appearance on Rock Star: Supernova and is one of the compelling front-women for iconic band Pink Martini. Join her for an evening of tortured and titillating love songs; beautiful, familiar, yet twisted…much like Storm herself. Storm is joined by band Le Bonheur, and together they perform unique versions of songs by Cole Porter, Lou Reed, Tom Waits and Randy Newman,

“Because it has to be said Storm Large is an astounding presence on the stage. And that voice. She can smolder like a chanteuse and then she lets fly with one of the most powerful rock voices I have ever heard in my life and have you pinned to the back wall with its intensity.” ADELAIDE REVIEWS

BLUR: THE SONGS OF ELLEN REED See star singer-songwriter Ellen Reed in a special evening of original songs and poignant covers, spanning ballads, blues, pop and RnB. Ellen Reed (Boy&Girl2) is one of Brisbane’s rising stars with her incomparable voice and her ability to perform gracefully under pressure. She won Nova FM’s national extreme karaoke competition by belting out Lady Gaga’s “Born this Way” whilst covered in snakes and spiders inside a coffin. In BLUR Reed takes the stage to perform original tracks from her debut album, inspired by Queen, Fleetwood Mac and Frank Ocean, as well as insightful covers of classic pop, RnB and blues. Don’t miss this introduction to one of Australia’s newest chanteuses.
