WELCOME TO BRISBANE COMEDY FESTIVAL! What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question? So, clearly, I’m not much of a comic, but hopefully one of the dozens of comedians from Australia and around the world at Brisbane Comedy Festival might give you more of a LOL. There is no "i" in denial. If you’re after a free comedy fix, we have Knockoff every Friday, as well as ImproMafia’s Martini Time. They're free laughs, and everyone needs that—I mean, a recent survey showed that six out of seven dwarfs are not happy. No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery. This year we’re bringing you more laughs inside The Big Top, our new comedy tent on the forecourt and you can also see Lucky Dip, our new up-late comedy sessions where you’ll get a mixed bag of the festival’s funniest after hours. And remember—you know what they say about cliffhangers...

FRANK WOODLEY EXTRA ORDINARY
A brand new hour of comedy from one of “our most naturally gifted comedians” (The Age). Frank Woodley fashions comic nonsense from any topic, as easily as an origami master turns a sheet of paper into an astoundingly beautiful giraffe that's not anatomically correct 'cause it’s really hard to make the legs as thin as they should be. Frank Woodley is built from funny—it’s in his bones. Whether he's being a comedian, clown, actor or acrobat, he is constantly creating characters and worlds to engage audiences.

ANNE EDMONDS
DANNY MCGINLAY
Anne returns to Brisbane with a brand new hour of stand-up. She won the Comic’s Choice Award at Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2015, had a massive year and is quite frankly one of Australia’s most exciting and original stand-up comedians. A banjo, a jig, a lady claiming to be a pig—“That's Eddotainment”!
What did you do for your Muck Up Day? Danny McGinlay got arrested. It’s the conversation topic that ignites the competitive juices of every graduate, now destined to become a relic of the past as more and more schools outlaw the practice. Danny McGinlay (Utopia, The Project) tells the story Victoria Police have kept suppressed for 15 years.

STEVE HUGHES NERVOUS BREAKTHROUGH
Don’t miss internationally renowned comedian Steve Hughes with a hilarious “tell it like it is” brand new show. After two years spent recovering from a nervous breakdown, a broken heart and a stint in rehab Hughes is lucky to be alive, let alone funny. But when your life turns to hell there's got to be a few laughs in there somewhere. Hughes does it the only way he knows how—with comedy that’s confronting, thought-provoking and always hilarious. Back for six shows only, after 20 years touring in over 35 countries.

AUSTRALIAN STAGE
DAVID QUIRK
HARLEY BREEN
Australia’s prince of dark comedy (Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane, Please Like Me) tackles morality, mortality and music. This show, like David, is approaching perfection.
Step inside the mind of a d**khead… it's good in there. Breen is a multi award-winning comedian. This will be his tenth solo show. That's a decade of stupid. You should definitely buy a ticket. Go on, it'll make you feel like a unicorn farting a rainbow. As seen on ABC Comedy Uplate and heard on Triple M.

TOM BALLARD
THE WORLD KEEPS HAPPENING What’s the deal with man’s inhumanity to man? How about those collective delusions about our mortality? Ever notice how society’s conditional thinking stimulates perpetual environmental chaos and suffering? Much LOL. In 2015 Tom performed alongside Wanda Sykes and roasted Jimmy Carr in Montreal, made his critically acclaimed debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, started a hit podcast and even hosted Q&A. Now he has a new hour of dynamite stand-up about how everything is sinister and confusing and on the verge of collapse. Come along and have a good oldfashioned laugh about it while you still can.

TOM GLEESON GREAT
Are you coming to my show? Yes? Great. As seen on ABC TV’s The Weekly. 2015 was a breakout year for Tom Gleeson. The three time Helpmann Award nominee starred alongside Charlie Pickering with his Hard Chat segment on The Weekly. He toured the country with his stand up show, aptly entitled Tom Gleeson, and just casually went about being one of the most in-demand comedians on the Australian comedy scene. Tom’s trademark dry and wicked style, both unique and hilarious, puts him in a class all of his own.
