The North of England has always been a powerhouse of musical innovation, and right now, it’s buzzing with some of the most exciting new talent around. Sound of the North, curated by leading music development agency Generator, brings seven outstanding artists to the British Music Embassy at SXSW 2025, offering a taste of the fresh, fearless, and diverse sounds shaping the region today.
From the hypnotic folk-pop of Amelia Coburn to the raw energy of The K’s, the genreblurring creativity of Dilettante to the electric flow of OneDa, the soaring indie hooks of Ellur to the magnetic storytelling of Finn Forster, and the alt-pop edge of Cortney Dixon—this lineup is a true feast for the ears. Whether you’re drawn to ethereal vocals, anthemic indie, or cutting-edge hip hop, this showcase is here to surprise and inspire. We’re proud to fly the flag for Northern creativity at the British Music Embassy —because if you’re looking for the next big thing, chances are, you’ll find it up North. Come for the music. Stay for the movement. The North is now!
Austin - how we’ve missed you even though it’s only been 12 months! It’s a new venue for us this year at BME / UK House, but we’ve got the same brilliant crew and production, including our Bowers and Wilkins-powered PA. The BME is all about showcasing the best of British - whether it’s the amazing diversity of our music scene, or the innovative tech coming out of the UK. The world has gone through some major changes since we were last in Austin, but we know the excellent reception that we get from the audiences at SXSW will always remain constant.
We’ll be arriving in Austin almost immediately after our own BRIT Awards – some of the 2025 nominees (and, who knows, winners?) played at BME early on in their careers, and I’m confident many of this year’s incredible acts will follow suit. Here’s hoping this year’s acts and showcasing companies have a fantastic time, make lasting connections and go from strength to strength as a result of the event.
Now for the important question - Coopers or Iron Works for BBQ? Decisions, decisions...

Natal was officially founded in 1965 by British percussionist Alan Sharp and has been championed by the likes of Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones. The use of fibreglass for greater sound projection and rounded hoops that were easier on the hands made Natal percussion instruments popular. Natal continued to flourish in the following decades, extending their product range to include the Fusion series in the early 90’s as well as cowbells, cajons and small percussion in the following years. In 2010, Natal moved into drum kits, attracting drummers like Jamie Morrison, Sian Monaghan, Michael Rennie, Steven G Legend and Oli Wiseman.
