Election 2016!

Florida Votes - A Brief History

Kimberly Morrison

The treasure trove Kimberly discovered on the library website Broward.org/Library includes unlimited free access to online resources, programs and services that would otherwise cost a ton of money. Describing herself as a “Proud Library Super Fan” for at least a dozen years, Kimberly says: “I have been the biggest advocate to my family, friends and co-workers about the joy of using their local libraries! I have discovered so much and saved so much money. The library gives me everything at no cost, beginning with the latest music from my favorite artists on Freegal, to audiobooks through Hoopla for my long commute, to books on OverDrive and magazines through Zinio on my Kindle.” A trainer for OneHope, an international children’s ministry whose mission is the spiritual and moral development of children and youth globally, Kimberly recommends library benefits to contacts around the world. Thanks to Kimberly, a friend based in India is now relying upon OverDrive for free access to all the newest U.S. book releases. Kimberly loves her e-subscriptions to Weekly WoW and WoWbrary that clue her in on what those new releases are…well ahead of the crowd.

You talked, we listened! The number one request from our customers and stakeholders is for Broward County Library to be open more hours. Broward County Libraries Division is happy to announce that beginning this summer, eight Broward County Library (BCL) locations will be expanding their hours of operation under BCL’s new Laura Connors service model, which was to increase open hours within our existing budget. The Fort Lauderdale Branch Library is now open five days a week instead of two, and the Century Plaza/Leon Slatin, Deerfield Beach Percy White, Imperial Point, Lauderhill Towne Centre, Pompano Beach, Riverland and Sunrise Dan Pearl branch libraries will now be open six days a week instead of five. These new, expanded hours are part of how we’re increasing the ways that we serve our community and our customers. Expanded library hours mean more access to the Library’s resources and services including free materials such as books, DVDs and CDs; public-use computers; educational, recreational and cultural events; literacy and computer classes; children’s programs and more. We’ll be sharing more good news in the coming months about expanding hours in other libraries. Check Broward.org/Library and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates on more service hours at your branch library.
