Director’s Message As a veteran of the United States Army, I understand first-hand the challenges with transitioning to civilian life. Broward County Libraries Division is here to connect our veterans, active military members and their dependents with the library’s resources. To facilitate that goal, we’ve partnered with T-Mobile to launch the new Veterans Connect Hotspot Program, a pioneering initiative that provides 450 free Wi-Fi hotspots to local veterans, active military members and their dependents. Use your library card and military ID card to borrow the hotspots, which are now available at nine library locations. The hotspots provide free internet access from home and assist veterans in transitioning to civilian life by encouraging education, self-development and career advancement. To encourage members of the military community to use Broward County Libraries’ vast resources and services, we will also launch new programming. Programs like the Military Shared History Project where service members can work with youth sharing memories, mentoring and leadership. Workforce development programs to assist with transitioning to civilian careers and the establishment of a Veterans Resource Center at the Main Library in partnership with the County Elderly and Veterans Services Division. The Veterans Connect Hotspot Program is just one of the ways that Broward County Libraries is evolving and innovating to better serve all of our community. Sincerely,
~ Kelvin Watson
