According to Intel Security and Atlantic Council’s freshly published report, networkbased medical devices connected to IoT look promising when the security is provided internally from the beginning. “The Healthcare Internet of Things: Rewards and Risks” titled report discusses the security concerns and social benefits on network-based medical devices including wearable, temporarily swallowed and implantable medical devices as treatments or for general health and wellbeing services. Network-
based medical devices support fitness of body, medical outcomes and quality of life improvement. According to the report, in 15 years of period these technologies are predicted to provide savings for health costs approximately 63 billion Dollars and for hospital equipment costs between 15-30%. However, the benefits of network-based medical services bring various concerns such as personal data theft, intentional interference for harming the devices, far reaching interruptions and possible malfunctions with it.
