WEEKLY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ECONOMY NEWSPAPER

The democratization of technology is the basic factor underlying all this development. Technology ownership criteria are no longer to be close to the money or the market but to righteously using the technology to provide the maximum benefit with the right connections. With this basic philosophy; for instance to have a mobile phone is no longer a luxury; accessing to technology is a state of necessity. Individuals developed awareness of this technology over the years, but many people did not foresee that there will be a new industrial revolution. Today, there are numerous individual devices we use in our homes as computers, laptops, game consoles, mobile devices and many others. With Euro 2016, you will see from BThaber research results and examples that the number of smart TVs has increased. These are only the tip of the iceberg. Consumers with technology awareness and knowledge do not follow certain processes and data flow, either do not want to follow, or do not know that they need to follow, or do not have the proper tools to follow. If consumer is the king, why not build a structure where everything is tracked with the sensors and chips that are way too inexpensive now and the big data is constantly growing, and analysis continue non-stop and decisions are taken in this platform? These sentences remind us some science-fiction movie scenes such as “Total Recall” and “Blade Runner” with a dark future, and “Minority Report” with continuously monitored world. It is difficult to know what the process will bring and let’s say Hollywood offered the worst case scenarios for years, we shall list our humble and innocent expectations regarding Industry 4.0. Policies should be determined via cooperation The ‘Industry 4.0’ concept requires full cooperation of all stakeholders, individuals,

We are getting ready for a new era public institutions and organizations, private sectors, SMEs and IT companies. Each stakeholder will have equally important responsibilities however in order to create a social impact, it is essential to meet on a common policy axis. In Turkey, the public institutions, NGOs and private companies agreed that the cooperation is necessary. But the theory has to be put into practice. In this sense, not only Turkey, but all the countries should implement the most appropriate structure to their own dynamics; shape the legal framework regarding incentives, employment rules, the tax supports and enforcements. Otherwise, instead of a sturdy table with four legs, 4 legs with different lengths which are not useful for anyone will be all we have as a revolution route. To sum up, it is essential that all parties implement efficiency with all heart.

Not unemployment rates, but competent employee needs will increase First of all, many talks about every business will be carried out by robots, human resources will not be needed, and the unemployment rate will climb as it is already a problem today for the world economy. However, as noted in our file by the official comments, Industrial 4.0 will not increase unemployment; it will lead to qualifying the employment. White collar and blue-collar jobs will change in this respect. Employees with data analysis power, who can take quick action, and adapt to the technological developments will be popular. For the existing employment, information technology knowledge, the development of companies and individuals in the area will be decisive. This change will change some job titles from head to toe, leading to the formation of new ones. So, rather than being afraid of a new

industrial revolution, selfdevelopment towards the requirements of this revolution is a necessity. As you will read in our file; innovation will no longer be represented by a class with certain abilities. It will be used by everyone with correct tools and emerge creativity. And not only employees, consumers who are indispensable in the ecosystem will be able to speak up with their creativity, they should. Risks will double on security As everywhere is full of sensors, IoT and analytics of things, cloud computing, augmented reality concepts will have an even bigger place in our lives. Now, smart cars are the favorite topic on the agenda, but this is just the beginning. Hardware and software will be uniquely suited to meet the needs for Industry 4.0 that means redefining competition. And of course security will be redefined. You do not want

viruses entering into your smart car’s system, for sure. So, what should we do about it? This is a very small title named risks; however it is enough to make you worry. Therefore, the diversity of risk prevention methods, innovation, realism and integrated processing skills will be more important for our day’s risk atmosphere. Cloud will be indispensable In a world which is controlled automatically, rather than storing data, managing data in real time for quick actions will inevitably be more and more important. With this aspect, business intelligence applications will transform from the traditional structure to the semantic structure. The subject in which everyone is agreed is that the PaaS and SaaS titles in cloud computing and data storage will diversify and the usage of such applications will no longer be a choice but an obligation.

Clonera for Integrated Business Continuity

Those who really know how to manage the risk will win! The global information services company Experian’s credit risk management and fraud prevention products and tools aims to provide transaction security for all parties. Offering various solutions for the prevention of fraud in loan applications to financial institutions; Experian has clients as banks in Turkey using these solutions. This system works in real time, hence the new applications are mapped to the information in the bank’s existing databases and inconsistencies in the application such as identity and address fraud are spotted immediately. Also, there is 41stP solution, working in real-time and preceding fraud on devices. On both banking and online transactions done over smart devices or Pc, whether the transaction is made by the rightful owners can be detected immediately. This system

will not only keep the technical details of the device, the language, geography and the configuration are also detected. These details are shared by Experian Turkey & Middle East Regional Director Cenker Özhelvacı and he drew our attention to the fact that smart phones and tablets are no longer the only devices that can be connected to the internet. Many consumer products such as automobiles and white goods are also working with internet connection. “These products include weak spots in the users’ private network, system and data as their security controls are weak.” Said Cenker Özhelvacı and added that more importantly when it comes to risk, passwords that are used and left open for access are the biggest weaknesses.

Users will have a disaster recovery center providing services at international standards with Clonera.” With Clonera, the entire system can be cloned without

massive costs; Ballı gave the following information about the new systems that they offer to the market: “All of the digitalized companies will need cloning. Being a global brand in ICT is not a dream! ANKAREF General Manager Erhan Binici mentioned about how that transferred their experience in the technology sector to the newly developed systems for libraries, archives and museums and actualized major projects and shared the following information: Museums can protect their wealth by security and merchandising methods with developing technologies. One of the most important benefits of the IoT being widespread in the future

will be on preserving our cultural heritage and exhibition methods. According to the latest figures released by TÜİK, 29 million 799 thousand people visited our museums in 2014. This number has increased compared to the past. But considering our cultural heritage, there is a fact that we have more potential. We should integrate the technological display methods with IoT systems, but also must ensure the protection to those very important pieces

of arts and cultural items that they deserve. In recent years, we observe that both in the public and private sectors work seriously for protection of the cultural relics and museum. This provides a versatile development in both technology and tourism sectors. As display methods compatible with technology; a new generation of intelligent storage systems, sensor monitoring, precision air conditioning, fire protection and fighting need to

be spread to all museums across Turkey. Instead of only feeling proud of the relics we have, we must do our part to protect them and transfer to the future generations.” Highlighting the importance of asset tracking for all institutions; Erhan Binici said: “Asset tracking with the latest technological benefits for especially organizations with a large number of inventories is one of the major elements that increase productivity. ANKAREF,

with this understanding, has developed UHF RFID-based systems and provides an efficient inventory tracking and counting process in a very short period of time with minimum error. We also offer custom solutions for tracking inventory. We use all facilities offered by the RFID technology which is a sub-component of IoT on inventory tracking processes. I can say that we are one of the companies with the most references in this field.”
