Turkey has faith in SMEs! Ventures & Mentors League CEO Ufuk Batum emphasized on new ideas, designs, quality products & services being the only way to survive. Ufuk Batum started his speech by explaining entrepreneurship and innovation concepts: “The transformation of the 1990s and the emergence of new technologies transformed the world in a much more competitive global village. Every country, company, ‘startup’ and even individuals live more integrated lives, work and produce. Thought patterns have changed; the business models have been renewed. Tomorrow, they all will be renewed again and again! The models startups implement and use today will be incompatible or fail tomorrow. Every moment, there is a need to ‘pivot’. Customer expectations are rising all the time. Being able to stand in an environment where there is such a tight competition is only possible through new ideas, designs, developing quality products and services. Being exceptional is no longer a luxury in every field from materials, informatics to space research and service industry. In this context, we need ‘nimble startups’ and SMEs.” The most valuable asset of entrepreneurship is qualified people Detailing from which needs Ventures & Mentors League was born and the services they offer; Batum stated that: “Our companies and SMEs are great in production, but in marketing, sales and business development, they are not so good. Startups, SMEs and companies come to us to receive support on opening to new markets and countries and to find investments. Techno-parks, TTOs and universities meet with new counselors, experts and mentors
We must make design a culture and habit of our industry Deputy Minister Hasan Ali Çelik, emphasizing that the Turkish Design Advisory Council brings together the design shareholders under one umbrella, stated: “This platform brings together the government, NGOs and professional organizations related to the design.” Science, Industry and Technology Ministry aims at increasing production in the industry both qualitatively and quantitatively. Çelik continues his speech: “We want to create a much more competitive industry with much higher added value than today. Enhancing the competitiveness of our industry,
through us in order to increase their capacity in the field of entrepreneurship. The name of the network we have established is Ventures & Mentors League. It is a platform where initiatives, mentors and investors find each other and work together to contribute to Turkey. The most valuable asset of entrepreneurship is qualified people. The following three concepts are essential: ‘Talent, climate, ecosystem’. We also have a ‘DIAGNOSIS’ application for SMEs. We visit companies, have qualified meetings for half a day and take a meaningful picture of the company by asking approximately 180 questions in 5 basic and 21 subcategories. Then, we work together with the owners and managers of SMEs to reach a diagnosis. We focus on profitability, sustainable growth and exports in a company. Turkey has faith in SMEs!”
‘Turkish Design Advisory Council 14th Meeting’ was held at the ministry meeting rooms on August 3, with the participation of Science, Industry and Technology Deputy Minister Hasan Ali Çelik. one of the most important issues is design activities. We see Design as a tool that will directly and quickly have an impact on the competitiveness of our industry. When we look at the Entrepreneur Data System, we see it clearly. Throughout the manufacturing industry, designer firms are getting higher operation profits
than those which do not create designs; they almost double the profit. Therefore, our efforts to make design activities more efficient in Turkey become more valuable. A good design gives a serious impetus to many different sectors from electronics to textile, cosmetics to automotive, from ceramics to furniture.”
Quick analysis brings right action Evam provides benefits to many sectors, especially finance and telecommunications in different countries as well as Turkey with its instant analysis algorithm of uninterrupted big data flow. With an office in Seattle, the company is taking careful steps in the projects in Turkey as well as overseas. As noted by Evam CEO Bülent Demirkurt, today integrating the big data into fast decision-making processes is more important than storing it in our day and age. On the other hand, Endeavor, supporting active entrepreneurs on a global basis, organized the 64th International Selection Panel on May 25 - 27, 2016 in Madrid and Evam also reached the title of Endeavor Entrepreneur Company in a panel with 36 entrepreneur companies, 36 panelists from 21 countries. Demirkurt shared
the following information: “This is our pride and an exciting opportunity. Since last year, we were in this difficult but quite enjoyable challenge. Businesses want to have a meeting and hear your story. Being selected as an Endeavor entrepreneur is increasing the interest of investors towards us. Our main job is to analyze and here we are replacing the data storage with action. There is continuously growing big data. Institutions analyze
it and reach a number of results, striving to make more storage and start using new tools for faster analysis. As data grows, difficulties increase in many titles. In contrast, the analysis you carry out is no longer a realtime analysis, it gets an old identity. An analysis result should be reached not one week or one day later, much faster. Therefore, we move with an approach not ignoring the big data but make analysis on the flowing data as we call it ‘fast data’ and take actions upon; making analysis on ‘real data’ by replacing the big data, setting up segments accordingly and making related decisions. We get instant data as the source of the algorithm implemented by us. But, we do not ignore the big data. Integration in the institutions can be necessary. We are talking about analyzing the data in real time.”
