WEEKLY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ECONOMY NEWSPAPER
Had been planned for many years by the most treacherous terrorist organization witnessed by the Republic of Turkey, the military coup attempt was tried out by this terrorist organization in July. Threats placed in the state’s most crucial locations such as the armed forces, the police, the justice system and education attempted a military coup in order to overthrow the Republic of Turkey by using the facilities of the state. Working on this plan for nearly half a century, there was a very important thing the traitors did not consider; it is the fact that the Turkish nation would not give in to this treacherous plan and resist to it until the last drop of blood would fall to the ground. The Turkish nation defeated those terrorists with a great resistance which the entire world watched amazed. The day of the coup attempt, the Information and Communication Technologies companies and their employees played a major role in the prevention of this coup

at the expense of their lives. The entire communication system (despite the death threats of the traitors for
stopping the communication even though the threats were fulfilled) continued to work non-stop that day.
It’s our duty of loyalty to thank all our citizens who succeed in stopping this treacherous coup attempt,
to wish God have mercy on those became martyrs and the wounded to have a quick recovery.
Don’t let cyber-attacks turn into business losses
Turkey is one of the top five countries which suffer the most cyber-attacks. Cyber-attacks cause an annual loss of 114 billion USD in the USA. The figures show billion dollars in Turkey and are growing rapidly. Being a first in Turkey and offering disaster recovery and business continuity services against all disasters in the digital environment especially cyberattacks, Clonera is developing solutions that eliminate the loss of business. Pointing out that in recent years, Turkey experienced a lot of cyber-attacks; Clonera IT Services Chairman Evren Ballı gave the following statement: “Recently, mainly the hospitals and state institutions experienced cyberattacks and many institutions were exposed to business losses. Apart from people’s private information being collected; everyone became a victim of the system failure and interruption of business continuity. Now
even the terrorist organizations harm the state through cyberattacks; thus it makes disaster recovery and business continuity investments a must. Considering that the digitalization increases every day, ensuring business continuity and being able to instantly access the system in an outage must become an indispensable part of the activities of public and private organizations.” Ballı highlighted that in the last 5 years, one out of three
companies in the world faced by a digital disaster and 93% of them disappeared in 5 years and added: “Actually, the emerging financial losses reach much larger numbers when considering the time the companies are not being able to work and have a business downtime. Against such illegal activities, it is inevitable for companies in Turkey to invest in disaster recovery and business continuity.” Ballı continued: “Institutions’ digital capitals are clearly at great risks. Business continuity has become quite important with cyber-attacks. When developing a product for disaster recovery and business continuity, we aim to provide Clonera customers continuing their work without information, business, prestige, and time & money loss. We provide companies which suffer a digital breakdown to continue giving services by putting them to work again within the minutes.”

Istanbul’s connection turmoil TELKODER announced that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) terminates fiber cabling permits of companies which offer internet and phone services because of subway, metrobus and funicular routes and there will not be a renewal in 2017 as well. This situation may create troubles in the relevant region of the communications services and many people in Istanbul could be affected. On the other hand, IBB demanded companies to collect the large number of cable and equipment and if not possible, the infrastructure elements made by major investments to be transferred to the municipality. Recently, TELKODER stated that officials of IBB desired the members of the TELKODER to buy the electronic communications infrastructure services from ISTTELKOM Istanbul Electronic Communications Infrastructure Services Inc. established by IBB and TELKODER stated that this company has an understanding of monopolize the city’s infrastructure. The monopolistic structure trying to be created through ISTTELKOM established by IBB is against the state’s programs, aims and legal regulations according to TELKODER and they stressed that the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, BTK and Competition Authority to react to this situation and resolve. TELKODER stated that the transit rights that are being retrieved from the member companies
would be transferred to ISTTELKOM by IBB and this process would be repeated for other routes as well. If this took place, Istanbul’s electronic infrastructure would be harmed and cause problems in the future. TELKODER Chairman Yusuf Ata Arıak shared the following information on the subject: “The negative and illegal moves taken by IBB through with İSTTELKOM will lead to losses for the communications sector. Municipalities and their affiliate companies cannot eliminate companies which have been investing in this sector for many years in order to create income for themselves. Steps in this direction and the desired structure of the market are not appropriate according to the state programs and regulations. Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, BTK and the Competition Authority must intervene in this application and avoid these negative movements towards Istanbul’s electronic communications infrastructure taken by the IBB. All local governments in the world are supporting the investors in establishing fiber infrastructure. Municipalities in Turkey should understand the value of installed fiber infrastructure and support or even lead the implementation laws and regulations in this regard. On this occasion, we once again saw how appropriate the decision was to establish a Common Infrastructure Company by Turkcell Superonline, Vodafone, Turksat and TELKODER member operators.”
