We fight not only for the independence of nations, but something far more precious, more glorious-the independence of the individual. That is what we have been fighting for, sacrificing for. We want it to be so that any child of God anywhere on this earth can stand on an equal footing with his fellows; so that he can say-"this is MY air, MY sunshine, MY earth. I have a right to live and hope and aspire and labor and enjoy the fruits of my labor as well as any other individual." We have been fighting for the principle that all men are created equal, and have equal rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
