CLINT LAUGHLIN PROVIDES TREAT \A ANGELES LUNCHEON \r,'
The Los Angeles Hoo Hoo Club met at their regular weekly luncheon, on Thursday, Octdber 4th, with one of the'largest turn outs of record. Mr. C. J. Lauglhlin, Los Angeles manager for the Long Bell Lumber Company was chairman for the dav. Clint introduced Loi Angeles' new police chie,f, August Vollmer. Mr. Vollmer gave the boys a thirty minute talk on the police problbms in the south, and asked for the cooperation of every citizen of Los Angeles, to promote better work among his men.
He was weli received bv the memrbers. , Snark Rosenberg made-a short talk, outlining some of the plans for the order, and appointed committbes to arrange for the coming golf tournament to be held October 25ft.
Los Angeles Hoo Hoo To Play Golf
Snark H. L. Rosenberg, of the Los Angeles Hoo Hoo announces the date of the next lumbermens golf tournament. to be held on Thursday Octdber 25th.
Mr. Rosenberg has appointed Mr. David Woodhead to act as general chairman of comntittees for this affair, and as suh-committee' has appointerl, Mr. Ted Lawre,rce to arrange for the golf play, Ivlr. Andy f)onovan on the entertainment end, and J. M. Chase to look after the publicity. The {ocation of the event will be announced later.

UNITED STATES F'OREST SERVICE AND NATION. AL ASSOCIATION OF LUMBER MANUFACTURERS IN JOINT FOREST FIRE PREVENTION AND FIGHTING EXHIBIT IN OBSERVANCE OF NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION WEEK.
Washington, October 10.-The United States Forest Service and the National Lumber Manufactuers Association will be represented at the National Fire Prevention Exposition in New York the week of Octdber 8----tbeing National Fire Prevention Week-by a joint exhibit. The exhibit will be devoted to showing how the Forest Service add the Western Forestry and Conservation Association and other forest protective bodies and individual timber owners associated with the National Lumtber Manufacturers Association guard against and fight forest fires. 'fhis cooperation exhibit reflects the close practical cooperation between the lumbermen and the Forest 'Service wherever national and private forest intermingle or are contiguous. The Forest Service frequent{y directs the firefighting work on private lands at the expensg of course, of the owners. The public and private lands are often so situated with reference to each other that only a common organization and united effort would be efrective.
Calls Meeting Of Central Committee On Lumber Standards
Washington, D. C., Octdber 11.-Mr. John W. Blodgett, Chairman of the Central Committee on Lumlber Standards, has called a meeting of that Committee to be held on Octo ber 31 at the Congress Hotel, Chicago. This meeting will be preceded by a meeting of the Consulting Committee on Lum:ber Standards on October 30.
