Letter From The Editor

Hey guys! I just want to say that I’m proud of what we’ve raised this month! All of the money we’re raising is to help us to go ICON next year, so remember that every penny counts! Also, we may be on summer vacation, but that doesn’t mean that Key Club is on vacation. It’s important to try and go to as many events as you can! We really want to have a strong club for the start of the new school year. I want to thank all of the officers that have really taken the time to attend board meetings and socials. I know that it may seem like a lot, but in the end it’s worth it. It helps us to grow stronger not only as officers, but as friends too. I have had so much fun at the events we’ve had since school ended. I can’t wait to have even more great memories with my club. I hope to see all of you at future events!! With love, Gabby

Bahama Bucks

As you all probably know, we had a fundraiser at Bahama Bucks on June 9. It was a great opportunity to get a delicious treat and see all of our friends. We had officers there pretty much the entire time to see if any members would show up. We didn’t have many members come, but it was nice to talk to each other for a few hours. We are excited to say that thanks to Bahama Bucks, we raised $160.

Bake Sale at City Market As the summer goes on, so will our fundraisers. Our goal is to earn at least $1000 by the end of summer. Bake sales are a huge help when it comes to fundraising. Our officers and members bake as many goodies as possible to make sure that we raise enough money for ICON nexy year.

Tarrant County Food Bank We had more members than usual come to this event. For 3 hours, we worked hard separating all of the food that was donated to the Tarrant County Food Bank. It felt good knowing that we were helping those who really need it, even if it was something as simple as getting rid of expired cans. We will most definitely be back to help there. We weren’t allowed to have our phones out when we were with the food, so we really got the opportunity to talk to each other without many interruptions. Afterwards, the majority of us went to Sonic, where we got some cold drinks and got snacks.

Catholic Charities After all of our hard work that we did helping sort out clothing and necessities, everyone who went to Catholic Charities decided to have a little fun and take a trip to La Gran Plaza. An unexpected social made the day even better, especially since all of us went down a slide that was three stories high. And I got to show everyone one of my favorite childhood treats, De La Rosa Mazapan. It was exciting since none of us had even thought about going to La Gran Plaza until after we were finished with Catholic Charities. Our club joked around a good while before deciding to finally head back to Burleson. We are definitely going to have more socials like this in the future.

Car Wash on Alsbury Recently, we had a car was at Alsbury Baptist Church. We had been advertising this event for a while. Everyone pitched in to bring everything from soap and towels to gatorade and a speaker. We made $89 and we washed a total of five cars. When we weren’t washing cars, we could be heard singing along to Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley or throwing wet sponges at each other. We even took a short break and just sat down talking to one another.
