A Letter From The President Waddup homedawgs, This is my first letter as your new president. I would like to start off by saying that it is my honor to serve you guys for the next year. I am so thrilled for another year of volunteering with some of my favorite people. However it is actually quite nerve wracking to be the leader of such an amazing club. Key Club means a lot to me and I really enjoy dedicating my time to it and telling people that we make keys when we actually don’t, but we do open doors to new opportunities and success. Anyway, I promise that as president I will give all of my effort and will conquer all obstacles to improve not just the club, but the way the members feel in it as well. I really love volunteering and it is one of my goals to get everyone in the club to feel the same way. I can’t wait to see you guys at all the upcoming events & projects we have in store for the summer and the upcoming school year!

Haaaayyy Clubbers, It’s your new Editor here! That’s right. THE Paulina Borowski. Try not to get too excited. I’m so glad to be able to give you guys a newsletter every month, and I hope you truly apreciate its beauty as much as I do. If you ever have any suggestions regarding how to make ugly stuff prettier, which horrible pictures of your friends need to be published, or anything else, just let me know! My goal is to make you look forward to the newsletter every month. Well, I can’t wait to work alongside each and every one of you in the upcoming year! Stay Classy, Paulina Borowski

Decorated Cupcakes and Delicious Cookies for District Convention On April 3rd, the monthly Key Club Bake Sale was held at the magical place of Walgreens. Key Clubbers met much adversity with whipping winds and scorching sunlight (proving detrimental to both advertisements and sensitive skin), but managed to sell nearly $70 worth of brownies, cupcakes, cinnamon bread, sugar cookies, and more, all by donation. Key Clubbers not not only raised money for the District Convention, but also provided one family with a cute Easter Bunny cake and another with cookies to bring healing to a hospitalized father and husband. The Bake Sale proved beneficial not only for the club but also for the community. What better way to spend Good Friday?
Key Clubbers Skylar Armstrong, Paulina Borowski, and Alie Shipman serve a cupcake to a hungry customer, receiving a healthy donation in return. One step closer to funding DCON!
Paulina Borowski, giving her best “what the heck?! face, gets frustrated as the advertisement sign was knocked over countless times, finally snapping the thick wooden stake right in two.
Alie Shipman attatches the Bake Sale sign to the pillar once again, as the duct tape proved wimpy against the whipping winds.

Ronald McDonald Madness
On April 4th, our Clubbers met up with countless other volunteers at the Fort Worth Ronald McDonald House. There, everyone served dinner to families with a child or other family member troubled by cancer. The kitchen was a hot mess as stations cooking meat, cutting vegetables, heating tortillas, and sorting desserts fumbled to finish before it was time to serve. Ironically, everything was ready to go approximately way before the families were to arrive to eat. But not to fear, for a great game of “Concentration” was used to pass the time. The initial fumbling proved worthwhile as Clubbers got to see the happy look on the faces of troubled grandparents, mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers as they handed a gorgeous taco to them across the counter. Skylar Armstrong, Nithure Rema, Vanessa Casteneda, Naomi Bannwart, Dr. English, Tyra Marks, Shivani Dalal, and Paulina Borowski smile as they get to finally feast following hours of frantic fumbling. Shivani Dalal and Tyra Marks share a cutting board, dicing tomatoes for the tacos. Shivani comments how much she loves cutting tomatoes, claiming “I feel like I could make a tomato slushy!”
Skylar Armstrong is obviously very happy to be cooking meat for the amazing tacos.
Naomi Bannwart and Nithure Rema have plenty of difficulty dicing tomatoes, as Niture asks “Is this even how you cut a tomato?” During an intense game of “Concentration”, Shivani Dalal and Paulina Borowski call out Naomi Bannwart for repeating a food that was already said. She wasn’t about to get away with that!

DCON Dominates
On April 9. over ONE THOUSAND Key Clubbers from across Texas and Oklahoma gathered in Dallas, Texas for the 66th annual District Convention. The first night, at the Welcoming Activity, Key Clubbers had opportunities to get new ideas, play fun games, as well as participate in service projects such as making cards for children in the hospital. Day two was filled with forums of all kinds for Key Clubbers to expand their Key Club knowledge and mold them into the servant leaders they are called to be. That night, the Key Note Speaker challenged some to be “Awesomer.” Day three was filled with both fun and business. Key Clubbers awoke early in the morning to attend caucuses and be prepared to select the new District Staff and endorse two candidates for International Trustee. During lunch they watched as Texas once again dominated the quiz bowl and an intense video game competition took place. That night was one of the most memorable. A great number of awards were given out for all of the great accomplishments this past Key Club year, and then Key Clubbers celebrated at the Governor’s ball. The fourth and final day was one of the most emotionally stirring days. This day encompassed the farewell breakfast where old Lieutenant Governors and Staff Officers were retired and new ones installed. Many scholarships were also given away this morning, including a $1500 scholarship to Burleson High School’s Taylor Jeffery. All in all it was a fantastic weekend with memories that will last a lifetime. While it was sad leaving, District Convention is only the huddle, now it’s time to go out and play the game. The BHS Key Club gets gussied up and beautiful for the first formal event of the Convention, Opening Session
Clubbers smile on the very first day of DCON, ready for the full weekend of exciting events!
Vanessa Casteneda holds a bitter-sweet gaze as she looks to the new district officers replacing the old, all the while sitting in the seat of an upcoming Lietenant Governor!
The girls all flash their pretty smiles for the first meal of the weekend, the Leadership Luncheon. I think they all agreed with Paulina when she exclaimed, “I can’t wait to eat this cheesecake!”
The Clubbers stop to pose for a groupie, making sure to capture the moment. Alie Shipman pleads for mercy as she is stuck in a jail where you must sing your heart out to be released.
Vanessa Casteneda laughs during the Welcome Activity as she almost drops the slippery “dino egg.” Later during the event, Vanessa was asked where she got her breathtaking dinosaur hat.

Administrative Professional’s Day Dining Did you know that Administrative Professionals Day was a thing? Neither did half of our administration! However, Key Clubbers painted happy smiles on many faces on April 22nd, the oficial day to celebrate those administrative professionals in your life. Arriving to school early, Key Clubbers gathered in the famed Room 237 with handfuls of cookies to place in cute gift bags. Unfortunately, over two dozen batches of peanut butter cookies were made as forgetful students didn’t think about potential food allergies. However, despite the minor setback, a multitude of cookies were passed out to the BHS administration. Once again, the Burleson Key Club was responsible for brightening someone’s day.
Looks like she will enjoy those cookies!
Clubber Nithure Rema hands Mrs. Sifford and Officer Alley their dose of perfection.
The Omega House Secretary admires her cookies and Mary Kay Coupon given to her by Clubber Paulina Borowski.
The school’s secretary gives Clubbers a big smile of gratitude!
