GREATER SHREVEPORT CHAMBER 2022 MINORITY BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY AWARDS HONOREES The Business Development Connection (BDC) of the Greater Shreveport Chamber honored outstanding business owners and professionals who are making a difference in our community at the Minority Business Opportunity Awards (MBOA) Dinner, presented by Willis-Knighton Health System.
RED MASS CELEBRATION On May 6, 2022, the annual Red Mass sponsored by the Diocese of Shreveport and the Shreveport Red Mass Society, Lawrence W. Pettiette, Jr. Chairman, took place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Shreveport. The honoree was the LSU Health Science Center Covid-19 Strike Teams under the direction of John A. Vanchiere, MD, PhD. These individuals have worked tirelessly alongside community partners since March of 2020 to administer almost six hundred fifty thousand (650,000) Covid-19 tests across North Louisiana including eighty-nine (89) nursing homes, achieving one of the lowest infection rates in congregate settings in the United States. BOSSIER CHAMBER NAMES 2022 COMMUNITY HEROES The Bossier Chamber held its inaugural Salute to Community Heroes event on May 12 at Margaritaville Resort Casino. The event, presented by sponsor Willis-Knighton Health System, recognized 19 nominees and named four Community Heroes. The Salute to Community Heroes event was designed to not only continue the tradition the Bossier Chamber has of recognizing our military and first-responders for their great work day-in and day-out, but to also recognize those in other sectors who do work daily to make the lives of those in our community better. The 2022 Community Heroes, awarded by sponsor RoseNeath Funeral Homes, are: NON-PROFIT/COMMUNITY SERVICE CATEGORY: Vita Riner of 318 Latino for her work in building up the cultural and business activities of the local Hispanic population. EDUCATION CATEGORY: Dr. Shelly Barrett, Regional Coordinator, NWLA Transportation Safety Coalition, for her work to educate the public and convene groups to work to keep our roads safe.
