Thursday is going to feel like Friday this week with a big night in store at the Brunswick Hotel. The legendary Katchafire are bringing their nationwide ‘Burn it Down’ show to our neck of the woods and it’s all happening from 6pm on Thursday night. For a night of authentic reggage and ska, you’ll pay $35 and probably have the time of your life. Grab your mates and grab your tickets from Oztix. Friday night it’s all going to be happening at Woody’s Surf Shack with Club Raider’s 3rd birthday doozie. Then it’s time to get spooky for Halloween on Saturday. The Northern are putting on Halloween Hotel with Mesa Cosa, Dumb Punts and Mini Skirt and others (free entry to that one). Out at the Crystal Castle on Saturday night, there’s going to be a very special event. It’s the Rebuild Nepal Benefit Concert with Emmy winning singer/songwriter Toni Childs. Tickets are $65.30 from Oztix and everyone will be shuttled from Mullum High because there’s no parking (or alcohol) at this event. Bring a rug to sit on and get excited for a magical evening around the World Peace Stupa with some incredible artists for a very worthy cause. Enjoy! Photography Credit: Carly Brown

Dear Keenwa is Byron Bay’s answer to Miss Manners. Have a burning question? Go on, ask Keenwa anything… byronbazaar.com/dearkeenwa
Dear Keenwa,
Why do people think it’s not hypocritical to eat only vegan, organic food but meanwhile fill their lips and foreheads with animal-derived “injectables”. WTH? - Wrinkled But Real
Dear Wrinkled But Real,
I guess for the same reason people think its okay to get all judgey wudgey at people for doing so. We’re a damn hypocritical bunch, and for all we know, you wrote this letter high on ice or when your chakras were outta balance. We all shit, and we all stink. For some, real is bovine injections, for others its raw foods. For some real is dishing out sex advice when you haven’t even done it for a year (can you seriously believe that?), but we love each other anyway. And we try to worry about our own shit-storm only, and whether or not we can fall asleep easily at night, open hearted, feeling at peace with the maker.
Dear Keenwa,
I met a guy recently and he seemed pretty cool but for our first date he invited me to do Naked Yoga (yes this is apparently a thing). That’s a bit much, no? Or should I just skip all the formalities and drop trou on the first date? - Nudie Rudie
Dear Nudie Rudie,
What formalities are you referring to? If you mean the so-called ‘personality’ aka lifetimes of suppression and human conditioning, the mask that we are forced to wear to participate in society with, well fork yes. What are you afraid he’ll see? Conscious coupling is the only way forward. You wanna stop a war? Get naked and vulnerable with someone (preferably the dude starting it). Cosmic union, sacred balance, and twin flame connection are the answers to all our woes, to taking down the patriarchy, and healing the world. And please, if you don’t like the girth of his downward dog then pass that standing warrior my digits.

Got something to say? - Well here's your chance ... Be Fair And Pay Living Wages, Anonymous _____________________________________
Seriously Byron Bay employers - why do you all think it is appropriate to pay staff poverty level wages? Yes, we do live in paradise - but I will scream if I hear another employer say, ‘That’s the price of living in Byron Bay’, when they tell you the pathetic $20$35 hourly rate they are offering (casual of course) regardless of skills and experience. There are 2 levels of wealth here - the wealthy & the working poor & employers are entrenching that inequality. There is a social construct - if I work for an employer - the full time salary should cover my living expenses. Well employers - let me tell you - the $691 to $890 a week after tax doesn’t cover the $600 rents in this town - unless you live in a share house. And that’s not a suitable option when you have a child, or aren’t an overseas backpacker anymore. And poverty is defined as spending 30% or more on housing. Wages haven’t moved for 20 years but expenses have. It’s time to be fair and pay living wages.

Thursday is an up-beat day, perfect for catching up with friends, making connections and networking. It works better for lighthearted fun than goal-directed action; the moon is void of course and concrete results might not be forthcoming. Friday is the day to negotiate or make a deal creating a win-win situation. The weekend has a rather solemn, slightly philosophical outlook with Lady Venus conjunct Lord Saturn. Questions or issues about commitment and responsibility might surface. They might linger on throughout the New Moon in Scorpio time on Monday, which has a visionary and highly intuitive flavour, courtesy of Neptune forming a water trine to Sun, Moon and Mercury. Time in nature is particularly soothing and regenerative for body, mind and soul right now. Also take note of your dreams, daydreams and thoughts and apply them creatively on Monday and Tuesday. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.
g
Aries The 4 of Cups symbolises a nagging dissatisfaction which forces you to re-evaluate your situation. You might feel a bit disenchanted, disillusioned or even bored this week; these highly unusual and untypical moods might make you question a lot of the things you normally stand up for with great passion.
h
Taurus The Emperor symbolises order, structure and stability. The Bull is quite aligned with these concepts; the only trouble is when his perspective turns out to be a tunnel-vision. This week you might be challenged to broaden your vision.
i
a
Libra There is no time for niceness or smoothing things over this week! The Tower stands for an unexpected, out of control and ‘in-yourface’ situation that interrupts carefully laid plans and has to be dealt with. Inner balance can be restored as you accept the wake-up call, even if it is humbling, and go with the flow, exploring new realities.
b
Scorpio The 5 of Wands indicates some personal strife this week that can be overcome more easily if you don’t limit yourself. Scorpio, being a ‘fixed’ sign, often has trouble with timing; it may be that they hang on too long – to a person, a project or an idea – or they hang back too long without telling their truth. The usual irritation, disagreements and arguments follow...
c
Gemini The Moon Tarot Card shines its illusive light onto all actions and experiences this week. The more you think and analyse things, the more confused you get. Especially during the New Moon time, your busy mind might have to surrender and allow your feelings and intuitions to take the lead. You might find a new balance between heart and mind.
Sagittarius The 5 of Swords symbolises anticipated defeat or failure. You might see signs on the horizon that an idea or a project you have been investing lots of energy into, needs to be revised and maybe abandoned because the results you are getting are less than satisfying. It could also be a relationship that can’t continue in the same way because old wounds keep being triggered and you are hurting too much.
j
Cancer The 7 of Wands indicates the need to show up, stand up and be counted. There might be more than one situation this week where you have to hold out against pressure and assert yourself. Hiding in your shell and hoping that things change if you wait it out, is not going to work for you this time.
Capricorn There may be numerous reasons to rejoice and celebrate this week; the 4 of Wands represents new-found fulfilment and the emergence of inner harmony; it is mirrored back to you as new possibilities and opportunities. As you open up to them you find yourself excited and delighted; you are ready for an adventure, a new project or even new love.
k
e
l
f
Leo The 6 of Cups promises a pleasurable week ahead; you might experience the goodwill of others, or you might be the one who is acting kindly and charitably towards others. Your open-heartedness is the quality that people love and appreciate about you most. Virgo You must be ready for a leap of faith and consciousness this week; the Knight of Wands symbolises an absolute commitment for change and maybe even revolution! Old perceptions and beliefs are challenged and met with great passion for moving on. You are unstoppable and almost invincible!
d
Aquarius The Princess of Disks symbolises the earthy, creative force of the goddess. New ideas might be born this week; they need to be gently nurtured and protected in order to grow to their fullest potential. Therefore this is not so much a time for frantic action, but rather for going inward, listening to your own inner guidance and following just that.
Pisces The Prince of Disks is not a risk-taker or adventurer; he’d rather stick to the tried and true. Through dedication to his path and unstoppable perseverance he is able to build new worlds, slowly but surely! As you adopt his stance, you take care of the little things and big things grow...

THIS WEEK’S MANTRA / YOU WANT A PEACE OF ME? In every situation you have two choices - to unite or to divide. How you choose to engage reflects how you see the world: We are one / We are separate. There’s enough for everyone / There’s not enough for me. All of us are in this together / It’s us against them. Same, same but different / Nothing alike. Infinite / Finite. Every action, every conversation, every exchange is charged with your energy- uniting or dividing. You’re either finding common ground or you’re building a wall. Finding a harmonious note or purposely singing out of tune. Weaving together or tearing apart. A peacemaker, or a combatant. You get to decide, today, in every single moment, if you will be a uniting force in the world or a divisive one.
