cheering for corona to save them from their human captors. Perhaps our current state of being is not so “unprecedented” and unimaginable after all.
REALITY CAN BE DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH AT THE BEST OF TIMES,
and right now why would you want to even try? 2020 is a write-off. At best, it may have forced some of us to reflect, search out opportunities for self-improvement, and perhaps protest our predicament. For others who just want to avoid the outrage, you may have slipped into swilling wine and retreating into a world of fantasy. Not giving anything away, but I am leaning towards the wine and a good book solution – as you will see from this week’s Well Read review. Invasions by extraterrestrials, worlds at war, a time of terror, a time for heroes - you get it all in The War of The Worlds, H.G.Wells’ 19th century classic. Ordinary folk relied on rulers, governments, defence forces and other elites to save them from marauding aliens. When the combined leadership was unable to deliver, it was left to a variety of microscopic bugs to save the human species. Cast forward to 2020 and you can see that the animal kingdom might be
Meanwhile, COVID-normal has created a few viral spin offs. “Fake news” and twitter twatter have so dominated the airwaves that fiction and fact are indistinguishable. The world is at war with words! When you hear commentators say, “The facts speak for themselves” you know it’s not true. Facts make their way to us laden with Interpretation, bias, opinion, commentary, spin and ignorance. Rights, ethics, intelligence and common sense don’t stand a chance. When we finally develop a Corona vaccine we will need to incorporate a vaccine for stupidity and a serum for truth telling. The daily “news” is all getting a bit too much for me. I can’t ignore it. I can’t change it. I don’t want to become outraged by it. And I certainly want to stop writing about it. So, I have decided to take the Bazaar on a nice long holiday, not to return until we receive a healthy dose of good news stories and oodles of happy endings. Until then, stay hip, stay chilled, and stay anything but normal! Au revoir for now. Tony - Byron Bazaar

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
THESE ARE CHALLENGING TIMES AND THEY
are reflected in the current astro flavour. With Mercury the messenger and Mars the warrior archetype in retrograde motion, the most common experience is the retro-shuffle, one step forwards and two steps back. Another analogy would be driving a car with one foot on the brake and one on the accelerator. What we do or don’t do might haunt us for a while… On the upside, Mercury moves back into cooperative Libra, where Venus, the love goddess, resides (until 21/11). Libra as a mutable air sign assists us in staying flexible and teaches us to be less reactive to all the uncertainty that we experience constantly. It might also help us to deal with the extreme polarisation of opinions that we are bombarded with, since Libra fosters patience, insight and harmony. We need a high dose of this to navigate the Full Moon in Taurus which is exact at 1:49 am on Sunday. From Friday onwards inner and outer tensions may be rising! The Taurus/Scorpio axis on which the Full Moon occurs is famous for stubbornness and encourages fixated or even obsessive behaviour. The Full Moon unites with Uranus, the big mover and shaker of the zodiac, which makes things basically unpredictable in every way. Plans may be disrupted or shredded completely and promises may not be kept. Uranus is the proverbial spanner in the works; he brings strange and awkward revelations and unexpected developments. And if that isn’t enough to deal with, just before Mercury turns direct again (4/11) he forms a square to Saturn (in Capricorn) for a whole week (2/11 to 8/11). There are two ways to deal with the fallout of this; either we get caught in a cycle of negative thinking or we choose to focus on what we can learn from the experiences of the last few weeks. Also on Monday, albeit short-lived, Venus forms an opposition to Chiron in Aries; there is a chance for reconciliation. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

The World Tarot card shows up to gift you with the opportunity of a reset. Use your talents and creativity in new ways and view your surroundings in a completely different light. You may surprise yourself with the ability to alter your reality and step into a brand new world with a brand new perspective.
h TAURUS
If you were born in late April/ early May this Full Moon in Taurus might bring a unique challenge or surprise that defies your sense of safety. For all Taureans the Prince of Wands is drawn and he advises you to connect with your heart and adopt a positive, can-do attitude to changing circumstances and sudden events.
i GEMINI
The Empress Tarot card symbolises leadership in the most feminine and nurturing way. She combines love, insight and wisdom to bring out the best in others. She is in service to the greater whole but she also makes sure that she gets the spiritual/ emotional nourishment she needs. She draws it from being in nature, with animals and children.
j CANCER
The Princess of Wands is the archetype of a free spirit. She is not plagued by old fears and limitations and she knows what makes her spirit soar to great heights. With her by your side you may overcome old, habitual ways of reacting, and create your very own liberation from oppressive thoughts and feelings.
BY GISELA
k LEO
The Star Tarot card is all about self-esteem and confidence. In this state of radiance you won’t have to prove anything, neither inflating nor deflating your importance. Trust yourself and tap into spontaneous self-expression, regardless of other’s approval. The way to actualise your creative ideas is by following your inspiration, counting your blessings and having fun.
l VIRGO
The Priestess symbolises spiritual leadership that emerges from feeling and intuition rather than from thinking in linear ways. This week you are guided to look beyond the rational and obvious into the mystery that surrounds all things and circumstances. You may feel inclined to withdraw from mundane involvement and seek out a natural environment for spiritual nurturing.
a LIBRA
With Mercury and Venus in your sign and the Sun Tarot card drawn this week’s mission is to bring love, light and laughter into the lives of others. Shine your light forth brilliantly and the whole world reflects it back to you. Maybe you can find new ways of expressing your inner harmony, vitality and goodwill.
b SCORPIO
The Queen of Swords symbolises a royal, honest and forthright attitude and she gifts you with the power for accurate and straightforward appraisal or any person or situation. She grants you with x-ray vision to see beyond any pretence. Nevertheless a little kindness may go a long way, especially during the Full Moon time.
c SAGITTARIUS
The Prince of Disks drawn insists on slowing down. This is his way to ensure he has the stamina to go the distance. In his essence he is unstoppable; he is not fast and furious but steady and focused. With his guidance you might refrain from competitiveness and find joy exploring your own pace.
d CAPRICORN
The 9 of Disks adheres to a refined and comfortable lifestyle, and as a hardworking Capricorn you are very familiar with using big rewards and little treats while you’re working towards your goals. Now is the right time to celebrate your progress and allow yourself another bonus.
e AQUARIUS
With the Princess of Swords drawn you might be in a rebellious mood. You may enjoy provocatively pressing someone’s button. Be careful with picking your battles though, and make sure that you not only have the courage to address the rights and wrongs, but also that you can deal with any resistance or reaction that your views might meet.
f PISCES
The Queen of Wands is the archetypical Quan Yin, the goddess of compassion and mercy. With her guidance you have empathy with your nearest and dearest, which hopefully also extends towards yourself. This is a highly creative, inwardlooking time and you may gain insight into the essence of who you truly are.

This week's review
TITLE: The War of the Worlds AUTHOR: H.G. Wells NUMBER OF PAGES: 287 READING TIME: 10 hours 23 minutes PRICE: Free on Gutenberg Press WHAT IT'S ABOUT: The War of the Worlds is a science
fiction novel, first published in 1898. After a shooting star is seen streaking through the sky, a cylinder is discovered outside London. As more meteor showers arrive, the world comes to realise it is being invaded by a Martian army, here to explore and plunder. Traversing the country inside huge three-legged killing machines, the Martian’s lasers incinerate all in their path, toxic gas clouds bring instant death, and a need for warm blood is satisfied by capturing human prey. Total annihilation appears inevitable, until a tiny organism comes to our aid.
WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: H.G.Wells was a prolific
novelist, penning The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau and The Invisible Man. Like those stories, War of the Worlds has been the subject of countless adaptations - the infamous Orson Welles radio drama, which caused mass panic when it was broadcast in 1938; the 1953 movie starring Gene Barry; the 2005 Tom Cruise blockbuster; and Jeff Wayne’s 1978 musical version. The recent TV series proves the ongoing popularity of this 120-year-old novel - it’s themes of foreign invasion and territorial war remaining all too familiar. Perhaps COVID-19 will also prove to be a modern-day viral savior rather than an evil plague?
NOTABLE QUOTES: “A big grayish, rounded bulk, the size,
perhaps, of a bear, was rising slowly and painfully out of the cylinder. As it bulged up and caught the light it glistened like wet leather…. The whole creature heaved and pulsated convulsively. A lank tentacular appendage gripped the edge of the cylinder; another swayed in the air”

DEAR KEENWA,
Hi, pleased to meet you. I've just relocated from Sydney with a car full of money, after purchasing a house outright online for three times the price, without even seeing it. Word on the street is that the Byron Bazaar knows where it's all at. Now, since we can't headbang the weekend away due to restrictions, please tell me where all the secret Byron gigs are at – waterfalls, Ayahuasca ceremonies, pleasure temple nights etc. My Instagram following has tripled since I arrived! - Byron Blower
DEAR BYRON BLOWER,
Here's a thought. Offer the old hippy lady that rented your house for the past two decades that you kicked to the curb (and has more chance catching Covid than she does renting an affordable abode in The Shire) a patch of grass to run her plant medicine ceremonies. Get the single mums in the same boat to run the pleasure nights, and bingo! Instant backyard Byron culture! Hashtag til the sun comes up, and kick them all out when you've got what you came for.
DEAR KEENWA,
So with all this internal iso time, i've been getting down and dirty with my relationship patterns. After meditating, smoking, dancing, journalling, and a ton of yoga, I've reached the following conclusion. Everyone I've been with has been a narcissist, has avoidant attachment, or tricked me into a toxic trauma bonding affair. I've blocked and deleted contact with them all, and hope they lovingly rot in hell. I deserve the love I give out, what next? - Love, Actually
DEAR LOVE, ACTUALLY,
I'm sure that's all true. We're so lucky to have such an overload of internet info that keeps us educated... and expert at diagnosis of others. A better question instead of why would someone do this to me? might be, what is it about this dynamic that I am so hooked on that I keep repeating it? Keep it internal, but keep it on you girlfriend, for as long as we blame others, we'll continue to magnetise the same shitty subconscious patterns.

This week's recommendation
ALBUM TITLE: The Speed of Now Part 1 ARTIST: Keith Urban RELEASED: September 2020 GENRE: Country/Pop/Blues BIO: Keith Urban has been a fixture of country music
for over 20 years, ever since his solo self-titled album hit the charts in 1999. Starting out in Australia as a gifted guitarist and part of country trio “The Ranch”, Urban went on to tour with Slim Dusty, sing back-up vocals for INXS, co-write songs for Toby Keith and the Rayburn Brothers and play guitar on albums for Charlie Daniels, Paul Jefferson and Tim Wilson. This is this 11th studio album. WHAT TO EXPECT: He may be a country boy, but Urban is not afraid to tackle other genres. Whilst in lock down, Urban worked with musos from London, Nashville, Scandinavia and LA, producing pop, blues, reggae and rock songs. The result is an album that moves confidently from boot-stomping countrybased rhythms to electronic and pop-based melodies and hooks. Featured duets with Pink, Eric Church, BRELAND and Nile Rodgers will broaden his audience, and Urban’s chart-topping ways look set to continue. STANDOUT TRACKS: Out of the Cage gives listeners an idea of what is to come, with it’s electro-pop and upbeat tempo. Country purists will love the lyrics, country beats and stomp worthy guitar hooks of Live With, Forever and Polaroid. As always, Urban includes a song for his wife - God Whispered Her Name is his valentine to Nicole, with soft percussion and a romantic guitar melody. One Too Many, a duet with Pink, has already become a number one hit. The album closer, We Were, is a nostalgic song featuring Eric Church, and it’s highlighted harmonies and strings may just take the listener to another place in time. LISTEN IN IF YOU LIKE: Eric Church, Lonestar, Little Big Town. Reviewed by Sarah J
