This Saturday night, it’s time to head for the hills for the ‘Shake it for Sea Shepherd’ Fundraiser at Konihur Hall in Main Arm. Pennies raised will go towards their ongoing campaigns protecting the world’s oceans and also towards a new ship being built in Turkey. DJs include MAGU, Psy Phi and Crystal Digit, plus there will be an awesome raffle, live Art by Rady, a massage space and a silent art auction. Check out the Facebook event page for all the info. In at the Byron Community Centre on Saturday and Sunday, the Exceptional Life Blueprint is being presented by inspirational speaker Marcus Pearce. Marcus will take you through his 8-step formula to transform from mediocre to magnificent. Sounds pretty darn interesting, check out his website for all the info. Then on Monday you can end the long weekend with a giggle as comedian Andy Saunders takes the stage at the Byron Services Club. Andy says he’s fighting for people who can’t laugh at themselves. Mandy Nolan and MS Stella will also be offering up some laughs, grab your tickets by calling 6619 0529. Apparently it is. Apparently the Church’s baker wont accept gluten free ingredients as thou shall contain wheat to be considered bread, despite the Oxford dictionary stating the contrary. This is something I obviously find highly offensive as Byron cafes have been serving up bread inspired by yours truly (quinoa) since pre-christian times, or at least ‘79. This info is solidly based on transubstantiation reasons which is of course the very scientific act of bread crumbs turning into the real dead body of Christ. If its gunna transform does it really matter what the ingredients are? Magic is magic right? Who would have thought the church could be so single-minded? Deluded? Dogmatic? Fear not though my love, this is nothing a simple case of BYO GF can’t fix. But hallelujah! A miracle! In response to ‘Rangers With Ludicrous Fines’, serves yourself right, I know who you are,your one of the ones who are helping to get rid of all rights to walk a dog in public. Because you allow your little pooches to run free, while you wander along totally oblivious, head in a phone, of what your mutts are up to. They do their little, slimy smelly poos in front yards, not found until walked inside to foul up shoes and carpets. Stains and smell are hard to clean out. I’d like to have a resident council ranger in Suffolk Park as there is a lot of free running dogs some must be the size of elephants with the heaps of poo they deposit, which is easy to avoid and pick up. Could be a lot more revenue to collect around here. So if you’re all “for following rules’’, walk your dogs on a leash. Simple. A responsible dog owner would know this!!!!!!!No fine.

THIS WEEK’S MANTRA / SHIFT HAPPENS “just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.” Break down the barriers, dive through the resistance. Yes, it’s messy and uncomfortable and uncertain. But keep showing up. Surrender to the process. You are incubating another, higher incarnation of your truest self. You are unfolding. You are growing. You are shifting. It IS all happening. Shifting sometimes demands that we wade through sweat and tears. It sometimes strips us down to our most vulnerable, rawest self. It sometimes requires us to totally lose our bearings. But most of all, shifting (catharsis/ growth/change/call-it-what-you-will) requires acutely compassionate self-awareness and total willingness. And at the root of total willingness is active surrender. Active surrender doesn’t mean letting the process just happen to you, or being a helpless rubber-necking bystander. Surrendering actively means embracing the contraction (the break down, the shrinking, the self-doubt) with your whole self so that when the time for expansion comes (and it is coming), you can unfold those prized and well-earned wings and fly free. The answers are coming. All of them. Shit happens. Shift happens. Keep showing up. Stay in awareness, stay in the surrender. Be there to receive the gifts. You are good.
