Plans for Saturday? Get your backside trackside for some roller derby action at the Cavanbah Centre. The Bay Rollers are going to clash against Brisbane, putting on one hell of a show for young and old. Doors open at 6:30pm and tickets are just $10 for adults and $5 for kids 5 – 12. During the day on Saturday, Emmy award winner Toni Childs is also bringing her very unique style of yoga to the Byron Yoga Centre. She’s been touring the world with her 6 hour intensive workshop titled ‘Into the Arms of Beauty’. It’s all about releasing personal and ancestral baggage. Tickets cost $160, which includes a delicious vegetarian lunch. If you’ve got little people on holidays, there’s a kids workshop on at The Farm next Wednesday. They get to learn about bees and cook honey pikelets it all sounds super fun! Then next Wednesday night at Woody’s Surf Shack, you could be the lucky punter to score a retro Morning Of The Earth surfboard. They actually give away a surfboard every Wednesday (a skateboard on Thursdays) and all you have to do is purchase something to go into the draw to win. If you need a ride to Woody’s just call 0429 819 372 and their kombi will come and pick you up. Sorted! Photography Credit: Bethany Ryles

Got something to say? - Well here's your chance ... Can’t Wait ‘Til Next Summer, Anonymous __________________________________________
We attended the Byron Surf Club Nippers Presentations last weekend. What a fantastic, thriving Byron community organisation. Full of healthy, sun kissed kids and amazing families. Thank you to the countless volunteers who help make Nippers happen each week. It is a fabulous organisation inspiring the next generation about beach safety and looking after each other. Can’t wait ‘til next summer!
Congrats Anonymous, your submission has won you a $25 Get Toasted voucher! Email us at hello@byronbazaar.com to claim your prize.

So there I was, jumping back into the car after nipping into Woolies for some emergency lentils and dairy free long life milk substitutes when what do I see? Two opposing drivers having a balls to the wall screaming match over the one carpark! I’m talking red in the face, expletive laden, clenched fist white hot carpark rage! I very nearly jumped out of my own vehicle to throw myself between them with an exaggerated “Time Out!” arm movement! Citizens please! Sure, since the advent of paid parking, spots in Woolies carpark are rarer than an uncorrupt politician, but really, resorting to threats and faux fisticuffs is taking things a tad too far. Peace, love and parking rage? Deplorable!
MEMORIAL POOL, Anonymous
__________________________________________
In case you don’t know! The ‘draft’ Master Plan for the Town Centre was released last week and talked about moving the Byron Bay MEMORIAL POOL out of town to the ever so popular Cavanbah Sporting Centre, you know that sporting ground no one has ever gone to that’s out past the last suburb in town... What parent is going to drive their child to at 3:30pm to Ewingsdale on the busiest and slowest road in the shire. The Byron Bay Memorial Swimming Pool was built in 1966, that’s 50 years this year, with funds completely raised by OUR community to honour those that have honoured us and has since seen thousands of people learn to swim right here. There are few things that better represent OUR history and culture like a memorial pool by the sea. NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE A SUBMISSION TO THE COUNCIL & HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT OUR POOL’S FUTURE!! Join the ‘Friends of the Byron Bay Memorial Pool’ Facebook page to keep up to date with news and important meetings. SUBMISSIONS CLOSE 7TH APRIL!!!

>> A quick chat with a Byron local (or a local at heart)>> BEN MANNA Business Name: Good Dog! Records Business: Record Store Job Title: Dealer Instagram: @gooddogrecords Place of Birth: Saturnia The best advice you ever received? Happiness is not a destination, it’s a journey. What’s on your bucket list? Driving West Coast to East Coast across the US. Who is on the guest list for your dream dinner party? Nick Cave, Gabriel Roth (Daptone Records founder/ producer) Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) What’s your guilty pleasure? HAIM (the band) When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up? Absorbed in music. How do you find inspiration? In the natural environment that surrounds us. What’s the strangest request a customer has ever made? I’ll give you $50 if you close the shop & perform (sing & dance) the Thriller album in its entirety for me right here and now. Yes, I did it. Most embarrassing moment? Getting beaten up by a famous singers lezfriend. Why did you start the business? I was sick of having to wait until I was in a city to go record shopping! My favourite customers are … The ones that I relate to the most. Those who want to spend their $ on the art made by people rather than assume they are entitled to it for free. The most influential person in my career has been… My partner, Sarah. The best part of my job is… Talking to people that are passionate about sound.
