Thursday • 5 November • 2015 YOUR ECLECTIC MARKETPLACE WHERE GOODS AND SERVICES OF ALL KINDS ARE BARTERED, BOUGHT AND SOLD
PO BOX 880 • BYRON BAY • TEL: 02 6680 7158 • hello@byronbazaar.com • www.byronbazaar.com AROUND TOWN THIS WEEK This Saturday morning there will be some bargains to be had at the mega garage sale at Circus Arts in the Industrial Estate. It goes from 8am to 12pm. Later in the day you might want to head out to Federal for FedRocks. It’s sure to be another big night of music and dancing. Dan Hannaford and Band are playing, supported by some great local acts and Cam from Forage & Graze will be cooking up a feast. Then on Sunday, Day of the Dead is being celebrated at Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens from 3:30 to 6:30pm. This Mexican holiday is all about remembering friends and family members who have passed. You could get there by hopping on the new Green Frog Shuttle Bus. It’s now dispersing visitors around the shire towns and villages 7 days a week. It takes 2 hours to do the whole loop and costs $40. Next Wednesday Kerry O’Brien is taking the stage at the Byron Community Centre to discuss his highly anticipated new book on Paul Keating. He’s gathered heaps of new material following an ABC doco in 2013 and tickets are just $15. If designer homewares are your thing, make sure you head on over to Newrybar Merchants - a new collective of creative merchants all under the one rickety roof! Check our their insta account @newrybarmerchants and watch yourself be lured over the hill! Have yourself a fantastic week everyone! Photography Credit: Carly Brown

Got something to say? - Well here's your chance ... Local Lads To The Rescue
David Choppy __________________________________________
A big kudos to two local lads Nick Westwood and Ferral Kharma... while enjoying a romantic stroll ;) on the beach near the wreck, Nick heard a noise, and barely noticed a young lady out near the wreck going under water. There were strong rips and pretty bad conditions, but Nick swam out and saved her life, bringing her back into shore limp and very lucky to still be with us. A few more seconds and she wouldn’t have come up again. Fez in the mean time ran up and got the life guards who came and took care of her from there and took her to hospital. It really was a heroic act that deserves some recognition! A tragedy averted by a couple of good lads :) Well done!
Congrats David Choppy, your submission has won you a $50 Republik voucher! Email us at hello@byronbazaar.com to claim your prize.
It’s Time For The Upchucks To Go
Anonymous __________________________________________
I get it. Camper vans are cool and sleeping in them on the street should be ok, but, well, it’s not legal in Byron and fines for doing so are hefty. I really don’t give a keerap where anyone parks overnight as long as I don’t step into a vomit mound on my morning walks or have to look at toilet paper flags waving in the breeze on the side of the road or bushwalking tracks. Bury your upchucks and your stinky poos and you might get a more sympathetic reaction from locals, some of whom would dob you in just because.

As an American who has recently moved to Byron, I love that so many Aussies are getting into the Halloween spirit! It’s such a fun holiday for the whole family. BUT. Since you’re all relatively new to the Halloween game, let me drop knowledge on some etiquette. 1. Trick or Treat means I give you a treat if you share a trick. The blank stares I got when I asked “do you have a trick?”! A knock knock joke will do the job. Or a cartwheel. Whatever. Anything goes. But bring something to the table before you go door knocking for free candy. 2. Don’t be all greedy and take five pieces of candy. Ask how many you make take. Or better yet, take one and just say thank you. 3. Last but not least, if you have facial hair, you’re too old to be trick or treating. Sorry dudes. Other than that, you’re doing great. See you next year, boys and ghouls!
