If you prefer oysters, then get yourself down to Balcony Bar, which is celebrating it's second annual Oyster Festival until the end of the month. Usually just on Wednesdays, ‘oyster hour’ will be held every single day in August, with $1 oysters from 5-6pm. There’s also a specialist oyster menu available, and an opportunity to spin the ‘oyster wheel’ every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8pm to win some sweet prizes. On Sunday, don’t miss the very first Mullumbimby Twilight Market. Hosted by Eco Markets at Poinciana cafe/bar from 2-8pm, the market promises yummy eats, boutique stalls and buskers, followed by DJ tunes inside. Enjoy!

G TO SAY?
WHEELIE WELL DONE WOOLWORTHS, HAPPY DAD I was wheeling my little man into Woolworths the other day and as we entered the fresh fruit and vege section he grabbed a mandarin off a display stand. After a brief explanation about paying for goods and services and theft, he laughed and said "Silly Dadda, these are for us." To my suprise Woolworths have started a free fruit for kids campaign at our local. So for the rest of the shopping trip, he happily munched away on a mandarin and an apple, all the while not whining for a treat, TREAT, TREEEEEEEAT!! Fresh fruit for the win!
KIND STRANGER IN ALDI, HAYLEY ROBERT I was having a shocker of an afternoon... locked my shop/car/toilet keys inside the shop, tried to use a public toilet wearing a jumpsuit (no thank you) and then went to buy my groceries for dinner only to realise my wallet was inside the shop with an assortment of other things I needed. Resigned and worn out, ready to walk home in a hangry huff, the man in the line behind me so generously tapped his card for my $15 worth of food! So, thank you, Tim! For my dinner and for a kind gesture that lifted me for the whole week. Gratitude for people like you in the world!
Congrats Hayley

DEAR KEENWA,
I recently had an ahem...incident on an 'arvo dip at Main Beach where my menstrual sea sponge returned home to it's natural habitat. I need to know, did I litter or free a sea creature? Sponge Betty
DEAR SPONGE BETTY,
Mermaids are awesome. Seriously, that hair. And those merman...Sea sponges however, are mermaid pets, aquatic animals taken directly from the sea which feed on bacteria and other food particles in the water. Just like mermaids they like sand, seaweed, and shells. Unlike vaginas. Litter you did not. Selfloving favour, you did. In answer to your question though, I might ask you the same cryptic question Jesse asks no one in particular in the film Free Willy, do dogs pee on brick walls?

I met an amazing chick, and we had three Netflix and Chill dates, one surf, and a few sleepovers. Then nothing. I feel like I've been dropped like a sack of goji berries. I have called and texted her but received no response. How do I know if she lost her phone, or I've actually been ghosted? Caspernova
DEAR CASPERNOVA,
Is it possible she went out for herbal cigarettes? Almond Milk and paleo GF bread? The real question I think you need to be asking is, is she haunting you? Does she lurk at the edge of your social media accounts, checking your Insta or SnapStories but not liking or making comments? These guys are even creepier, you can feel them hanging on hard to the edges of your existence, but you just can't bag them.

HEAVILY Meditated With Caitlin Cady
This week's mantra "STRIVE TO ACHIEVE, RELAX TO RECEIVE" - GURU SINGH "The same effort that causes us to strive to achieve is…only half of the process. The other half of the process is that you must relax to receive. You must strive to achieve and then relax to receive.” - Guru Singh Putting in the time and doing the work is important. In order to manifest what we desire we must be devoted in our efforts. But if we get caught in striving, we get caught in ego, driving, and pushing. We become intoxicated with craving and longing. And that is not the vibration of manifestation. Manifestation happens when we open ourselves and relax into trust. In other words, at a certain point, trying so-damn-hard blocks your ability to receive. Once the work is done, it’s essential to complete the cycle of energetic circulation and relax into receiving. Be devoted in your action. Then, surrender your efforts and transition into trust. Bottom line: don’t get caught in striving. Take a cue from your heart today. Let your pulse be a devotional reminder, a mantra that vibrates through you… Contract, expand. Serve, deserve. Give, receive. Strive, surrender.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
THURSDAY IS AN EXCELLENT DAY FOR
a creative pursuit, especially if you work by yourself and you can go with your very own flow. With the Moon conjunct Neptune and opposite Mercury imagination is flying high, but communication is tricky; misunderstandings and confusion are prevalent. A Venus/ Neptune trine on Saturday makes the weekend perfect for a romantic getaway in beautiful nature, or re-immersing yourself into your favourite project. It is also a good idea to finalise travel bookings and to back up your electronic devices, just in time before Mercury turns retrograde in Virgo on Monday. For the next three weeks, as always in the Mercury retrograde period, it is advisable to be extra diligent with messages, meetings and contracts, and to factor extra time into your travel arrangements. A Sun/Saturn trine, also on Monday is very timely; it gets you organised and helps to tie up loose ends. A Venus/ Pluto opposition, exact on Tuesday, brings intense emotions and power struggles. Old, well-known disagreements might flare up with partners or children, and while you rework ‘old bones’, inner tension rises. You might feel very defensive and protective of your, possibly limited, perspective. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES
The 2 of Swords indicates your willingness and ability to make peace, first of all within and, as you balance yourself, with your nearest and dearest as well. To make this work you may have to step back, adopt a greater perspective and find a resolution from that place.
h TAURUS
The Fool Tarot card increases your taste for the new and unexpected to such a degree that you may want to throw all caution and habits to the wind, and take the first step into the unknown. Your courageous heart shows you the way. This may be a week of anticipation, wonder and miracles...
i GEMINI
With the 6 Wands drawn success and triumph are on the way. You enjoy recognition and acknowledgements by others as you create winwin situations, and your results prove that you are on the right track. Just make sure your ego or pride don’t take over and spoil the joy of co-creation.
j CANCER
The 10 of Cups represents the exuberance of well-being and benevolence. Your cup is more than full and you are delighted to share your overflowing happiness with loved ones, friends and colleagues. Your deep emotional contentment and fulfilment have a ripple effect and inspire others.
BY GISELA
k LEO
The Temperance Tarot card describes the alchemical process that takes place when you merge and mix different ingredients, ideas, beliefs or even polarities. Something new emerges out of that synthesis, a new equilibrium is created and a new vision or perspective is born.
l VIRGO
With the Knight of Swords drawn you might be in a hurry to get to your destination but you may lack patience to deal with the little twists and turns on the way. Nevertheless you are decisive, alert and sharp, and you can achieve a great deal, especially before Mercury turns retrograde.
a LIBRA The 6 of Disks points out that your pursuit of accomplishment and success is shortlived and rings hollow if it is just a matter of money or fame. This week you might feel motivated to share your knowledge and resourcefulness with others and adopt the role of a volunteer, sponsor or mentor.
b SCORPIO
The Judgment Tarot card represents an awakening to new possibilities. You are ready to perceive situations from a broad and non-judgmental perspective. As you make an honest appraisal of difficult situations, you may drastically improve your capacity for compassion. Communication with family members or colleagues is improving.
c SAGITTARIUS
The Knight of Wands indicates that you are ready to take a leap of faith that catapults you out of your present circumstances into new adventures and realities. This is the week to make the big changes you have been anticipating for a while. Don’t sweat the small stuff, move forward with passion and confidence and try to get it done before Monday.
d CAPRICORN
The Empress symbolises the Earth Mother; she encompasses feminine grace and nurturing. She leads with great love and wisdom, and would like to inspire you to look after yourself as well and in equal proportion, as you comfort and support others. Take time out in Mother Nature and allow yourself to be soothed and healed by her.
e AQUARIUS
The 8 of Wands indicates a breathless time with lots of communication, networking and action. Strike while the iron is hot and aim to have your objectives accomplished by Monday when retrograde Mercury sets a new pace and you enter a consolidation phase.
f PISCES
The 3 of Disks heralds a dynamic week; you may overcome any difficulties, blocks or negativity towards certain tasks that have to be completed anyway, no matter how you feel about them. With your newly found clarity and commitment you are able to follow through and ‘nail it’ as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The day will be educational and will feature guest speakers and demonstrations suitable for children of all ages. Threats like plastic pollution, overfishing, drum lines and the deteriorating health of marine life means that now more than ever our oceans need to be protected for future generations. The Festival will feature a designated children’s entertainment and amusement area. There will be face painting, balloon making, educational talks and demonstrations and a jumping castle. With an 8am start there’ll be a beach clean-up at Apex Park, just across from the Beach Hotel. At 11am feast on a free BBQ at the Brewery for all those who joined the clean-up and then a fundraising event will be held from 12pm – 10 pm. Event highlights include bands, silent auctions, raffles and giveaways, workshops, stalls and presentations by marine experts. Entry will be by Gold Coin donation and Bay FM will broadcast live from the Brewery from 2-4pm

Q&A A Q U IC K C H
A T W IT H .. .
Doni Raven, DONI RAVEN AND THE COLLECTIVE INSANITY TELL US, HOW DID DONI RAVEN AND THE COLLECTIVE INSANITY START? In 2016 I decided I wanted to do
things differently with my music. Having a true love and passion for many art forms, I wanted to express my music through visual and expressive mediums. I filmed and directed a silent movie called ‘Doni Raven’ and then performed my original compositions with ‘The Collective Insanity’ as a live soundtrack.
WHO ARE YOUR GREATEST MUSICAL INFLUENCES? Too many to mention, but my biggest influence is Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
WHAT CAN PEOPLE EXPECT TO SEE AT YOUR SHOWS? For
our current tour show we have teamed up with local abstract visual artist Hamish Gordon who creates his paintings live to the music and projects the image of the artwork visually onto the band as we perform. Every painting is therefore unique and the band member become a canvas and picture screen so the audience are able to watch he paints what he feels and hears.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART ABOUT LIVING IN BYRON BAY? Having a sense of belonging. Everyone in
Byron is a bit offbeat in his or her own way. It was the place where I dusted off my wings and I leant how to fly again.
WHAT / WHEN ARE YOUR UPCOMING SHOWS? Our next
show is Saturday 12th August at the Courthouse Mullumbimby. Then Saturday 19th August at Sonny’s House of Blues in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane.
