This Friday night is certainly a night to get amongst it because Dubmarine are doing their thing at the Beach Hotel with Mr Speaker and the Party People. It’s a free gig and starts at 9pm. Then on Saturday, the Dwellers of the Deep Electronic Music Fiesta is on at the Byron Brewery from 2pm. This awesome mini dance festival is a fundraiser for two great charities - Sea Shepherd and Weasel Warriors. Your $35 ticket even includes dinner so come and join the fun. Head to byronbaybrewery.com.au for all the info. If you’re after a more chilled out night, there’s a Nepal Fundraiser movie on at the Byron Community Centre. When the Iron Bird Flies starts at 6pm and tickets are $25 (Conc $20). On Sunday it will all be happening up the highway with the annual Mullum to Bruns Paddle. Anonymous __________________________________________ With the high concentration of people in our coastal region, why is there no public transport to visit our neighbours on weekends? If you don’t have a car you can’t get to Bangalow or Lismore. Without a car you miss out on the weekend markets, workshops and just getting out of town for the day. It’s bad enough if you want to travel anywhere outside of Byron during the week when there are only three services a day finishing at 3.30pm. It makes life very difficult if your a university student because the study hours are longer. It’s just not good enough.

Mr. T. Driver __________________________________________ Regardless of the pros and cons of the new train service it is great to see some transport progress here and use on of the rail track. It will at least remove some of the additional cars from the road going between the new resort and town. I hope the track won’t get any potholes . . . that would make for a bumpy ride. I also hope the resort will bring some much needed jobs to Byron for the locals. Don’t be hater . . . be a participator!

Anonymous __________________________________________ Why have an office in Byron Bay operating at half capacity? I feel like I’m being punished for being unemployed whilst living in Byron Bay. Centerlink have an office in Byron Bay yet when I need to go to for an interview I have to commute to their Brunswick Heads office, for me this means taking the bus or a push bike. By bike means hoping for low tide or taking the M1 and a two hour round trip....or take the bus to Brunswick heads and stay for the whole day as buses only return in the afternoon. Before you start, I know I’m living off the system which in itself sounds a lot better than what it is, it actually means I’m living below the poverty line. Why not conduct interviews in Byron Bay and give me my ten lashes on the way out. Maybe you could employ me to run an eco human friendly version while we’re at it instead of having me on hold for an hour at a time on your phone service. Who employs these people?
