Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST

ON THURSDAY MERCURY SLIPS INTO

organised and meticulous Virgo and revitalises the long-lasting Saturn/ Uranus earth trine that has been with us for a while. Practical and realistic ideas that bridge old and new structures can be conceived, analysed and communicated. A Sun/Neptune opposition during the weekend may cloud the picture temporarily and errors of judgement are highly likely. Venus and Mars, the archetypes for relationships, form a challenging square during this time as well, which might aggravate toxic situations for the next few days. Venus moves into Scorpio on Sunday evening; expect a little brooding or awkward silence. Monday’s New Moon in Virgo carries the signature of all the above, plus a bit of worrying, maybe nit-picking and nervous energy. Mars moves into Aquarius on Wednesday; he is still retracing his steps, due to a recent retrograde sojourn. Maybe some issues that you had to deal with in mid-May surface again and need completion. Mars in Aquarius is the archetype of the humanitarian fighting for a better world or for his ideals. At times he loses human connection, as he is rather detached. He is definitely not interested in the emotional tsunami that Venus in Scorpio might evoke! Tuesday and Wednesday are big days! Three major aspects culminate, involving the Sun, Jupiter and Pluto. This is a powerful time and it is important to stay fair and patient. Don’t sweat the small stuff! For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

Astrology and Tarot Forecast consultations by Gisela FOR AN APPOINTMENT: giselasunshine@gmail.com.au or text 0431 894 408

g ARIES

The astrological flavour of this week combined with the 7 of Swords drawn comes as a reminder to become more aware of your tendency to self-sabotage. Be very aware of what you are thinking and what you focus upon. Above all, abolish self-loathing!

h TAURUS

The Princess of Cups represents a sensitive, intuitive and gentle spirit. Your emotional receptivity makes it easy for you to read other’s feelings and to respond to them. Trust your perceptions and also let others see you in your open and vulnerable state. Avoid noisy and crowded places and seek out nature to relieve any stress.

i GEMINI

The Hermit Tarot card indicates that, contrary to your normal very social ways, you might be on an inward journey this week. Your need for solitude supports the process of completing unfinished business before you embark on a new path. Listen to your own inner guidance and don’t get distracted.

j CANCER

The World Tarot card represents inner and outer journeys. Maybe you are preparing for a trip or are exploring new avenues and perspectives in your current reality. It all starts with the desire to be more free and able to live your true essence and individuality. Dream big and see what happens…

BY GISELA

k LEO

With the Hanged Man Tarot card drawn you might feel a bit stuck or trapped by circumstances. However it may be your own repetitive patterns that blind you and limit or restrict your personal growth. Take time to reflect, maybe overturn priorities and find ways to give up your inner struggle.

l VIRGO

The Empress illustrates the healing power of love that is comforting and supportive. Don’t shy away from your tenderness, and allow yourself to express your heart’s feelings. Your inner wisdom is very much appreciated in this world, but don’t push yourself to over-give, rather take time to nurture your inner nurturer.

a LIBRA

The Death Tarot card heralds profound change that usually is not appreciated. Maybe you invite renewal and transformation to some degree in your life, but you resist how it happen and label the process as destructive. The more you are able to accept what is and go with the flow, the less painful your transition will be.

b SCORPIO

The Knight of Disks is exhausted and underresourced. You might have been pushing yourself too much, working too hard, and on top of that you may feel disappointed about how little gain your efforts bear. Maybe you can find a new and more flexible way to get things done.

#BYRONBAZAAR 4 BYRON BAZAAR

c SAGITTARIUS

The Star Tarot card represents a state of radiance and confidence that is neither inflated nor deflated. When you are your own star, you know how to use your talents in the most creative and potent ways. What a delight for yourself and inspiration for others!

d CAPRICORN

The 7 of Wands might bring out the fierce warrior in you. You are ready to stand up for your strong convictions and beliefs. Even though you are normally not a fighter, you may fire up quickly this week and decide to assert yourself courageously, in a way that takes others by surprise and maybe yourself too.

e AQUARIUS

With the 4 of Cups drawn and Mars re-entering your sign this week, it is a good time to re-evaluate your situation. Maybe you have been doubtful, not knowing what you want, or a little lost and self-absorbed. Mars encourages you to dust yourself off, reinvent yourself if necessary and refocus.

f PISCES

The Prince of Wands is often called ‘Prince Charming’. His enthusiasm, passion and open-heartedness are contagious. You may feel uplifted and elated, and inspire everyone who is lucky enough to spend some time with you. Your zest for life may also be funnelled into an all-absorbing creative endeavour.

DEAR KEENWA, We have so many great waterfalls and secret nature spots in The Shire to froth on, yet I have noticed my enjoyment of late has hit next level, like is it normal to be aroused by bushwalking? Anyone else out there seeing genitals at every turn or is it just me? Please explain, so I know whether to update my Insta bio to eco-sexual or not? - Earthly Delights

DEAR EARTHLY DELIGHTS,

P AND T SEEVIEW WINDOW CLEANING

So the first question to ask in any sexual relationship is, no matter whatevs is going down is, is it consensual? Obviously taking pics and leaving only footprints is a no-brainer, but do you send out a coo-ee via the bush phone the morning after to communicate you had a nice time? Do you wear protection? You do know Lyme Disease stats are at an all-time record high after last year's tick season, right? Basic bush law: If it's not on, it's not on.

DEAR HIGHER EGO, Millions of years ago we used to have these institutions of learning called universities, where you actually had to pay money to listen to teachers who had a lot more experience than you, and put in thousands of hours of hard yakka practicing and honing your craft. But screw those patriarchal academy’s, right?! Hashtags have replaced credentials after our names. This week's mantra INSPIRATION INVOCATION Whisper to me. Let me be still enough to hear you. Make me fluent in the language of whims and inklings. Flip my switches. Light me up with bolts of inspiration. Make me a vessel, pour ideas through me. Ignite the creative impulse within me. Enrich me with the courage to create. Gift me with the tools of self-expression: the willingness to try; the sensitivity to feel what needs to be felt; the vision to see what needs to be said; the boldness and bravery to say it. Grace me with the precise edges and sharpened points of articulate expression. Let me dip my brush into the well of truth and paint something beautiful and resonant. Let the truth ring through my bones when I hit the right note. I know that my mind casts shadows. Help me recover the truth of joy that is always there but is sometimes shrouded in doubt. Sustain me with the trust to keep going. When the work is done, let my compensation be contentedness. Refuel me with the revelry of resonance. And when the time is right, reward me by replenishing my reserves with another spoonful of inspiration, so that I might make my life an offering.

The Ocean Shores Food Truck Fiesta 8TH SEPTEMBER - 3-9PM / OCEAN SHORES TAVERN

The Design Collective food truck group has travelled everywhere in the Northern Rivers and is finally landing closer to home at the Ocean Shores Tavern! Join us for a night of delicious world street food, live music and loads of fun. Relax under the fairy lights and bunting in an absolute foodie lover’s paradise, offering vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options in all sorts of creative ways. Free entry, family friendly with an endless selection of fun to be offered, and let’s not forget about the face painting for kids.

Jeff Lang – Nimbin Roots Festival 14TH SEPTEMBER 11AM - 11PM / NIMBIN

The Northern rivers is never short of a good music event, especially in the genres of blues and roots. Nimbin puts on its 3rd Roots fest with a winner of a line-up including Archer, Dusty Boots, and the spirited guitarist, songwriter, singer and producer, Jeff Lang. Jeff is a hard one to pin down, though he generally trades in a roots-orientated, rock type of sound. He has a reputation for approaching his melodies in a gutsy intricate and unique way, using the soul from his audiences to always put on a good show. If you haven’t done this festival yet, I suggest you do, as it’s a similar vibe to the Bellingen music festival, as music events are held around various venues around the village. For more information and ticketing to NRF, head to: nrfest.com

BOOKS FOR Y

This week's review

TITLE: Asymmetry AUTHOR: Lisa Halliday NUMBER OF PAGES: 288 EST. READ TIME: 4 hours and 39 minutes PRICE: $18.66 WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Set in New York, Alice meets a

successful author who is much older than her and deep dives into a romantic relationship with him. Alice is at the beginning of her life and career, whilst he is nearing the end of his. What begins as some witty banter and an exciting sexual connection soon turns into something more serious. Paralleling this story is that of Iraqi-American economist Amar, who has been detained in a London airport. The two tales develop over the same pages and are asymmetrical but fuse together in a thought provoking way.

WHO IT'S FOR: Those who enjoy a quirky romances. Think Woody Allen’s Annie Hall or Manhattan.

WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: Lisa Halliday is very clever

at interweaving two very different stories into one deceivingly simple narrative. Her characterisation is something to be admired. It is a comment on the human condition. And also… there’s a twist !

NOTABLE QUOTE: “The effect, on Alice, was dazzling

and demoralizing all at once: reverberating in her sternum, the music made her more desperate than ever to do, invent, create—to channel all her own energies into the making of something beautiful and unique to herself—but it also made her want to love. To submit to the loving of someone so deeply and well that there could be no question as to whether she were squandering her life, for what could be nobler than dedicating it to the happiness and fulfillment of another?” This week's review written by Jessie Hilton @jessieahilton

Coral Latella @CORAL_IDA

TELL ME THE BEST PART ABOUT YOUR JOB? I am lucky

enough to be getting paid to talk to people about what I care about – providing ways to reduce the harmful impact we have on the environment and working towards a more sustainable way of living.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING TOWARDS AT THE MOMENT? I’m working towards helping to reduce Byron’s plastic footprint – educating members of the community about the effects of single use plastic, particularly on the marine environment, and helping them switch over to reusable and compostable products as an alternative.

WHAT EVENTS HAVE YOU HELD RECENTLY IN SUPPORT OF YOUR CAUSE? So far, we have launched the ‘Make The

VOLUNTEER BEACH SURVEY OFFICERS

Positive Change for Marine Life are seeking volunteer Beach Survey Officers to help coordinate fortnightly beach cleans and data collation. Visit PCFML.ORG.AU and click “TAKE ACTION” for more information.

Switch’ Program alongside a number of other waste focused campaigns, which involved presentations, stalls and activities down by the Surf Club at Main Beach. (I was dressed as a plastic cup for most of the day..)

KNOW ANY QUICK EDUCATIONAL FACTS? Wow, there are

so many scary ones... Did you know that 9 million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean every year? And it is estimated that globally, 1 million seabirds and over 100,000 mammals die each year as a result of plastic ingestion or entanglement.

WHAT WOULD YOU LEAVE BYRON FOR? Tricky.. I tried to

leave but came back a year later! I would leave if a new, challenging job opportunity came up in my field. Or if David Attenborough requested my assistance, with anything at all.

WHAT DO YOU WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW? That the

things we do and the products we buy daily actually have a significant impact on the bigger picture stuff, small changes like eliminating plastics, or reducing what you send to landfill have a quantifiable positive impact down the line. To reduce the amount of plastic you use and switch to better alternatives, sign up to the Make The Switch Program!
