The dynamic Sydney duo will be spinning smooth synth sounds from 6:30pm, with plenty of ice-cold Corona buckets to go ‘round. Over in Bangalow, Coopers will be hosting a Sundowner Session at the Bowlo, with $6 schooies of Coopers Session Ale and Coopers Dry from 4pm. Entry is free, with a food truck and lives tunes to boot. Come Tuesday, surfing legend Rusty Miller will be introducing a screening of cult surf flick Morning of the Earth at Byron Theatre at 7:30pm. BOOKS FOR Y
This week's review
TITLE: Daring Greatly: How the Courage to be
Vulnerable Transforms the Way we Live, Love, Parent and Lead AUTHOR: Brene Brown NUMBER OF PAGES: 320 EST. READ TIME: 4 hours and 55 minutes PRICE: $18.75
1 PORTER STREET, NORTH BEACH, BYRON BAY
WHAT IT'S ABOUT: After great success as a researcher
and author, Brene Brown explores her own battle with vulnerability and her internal crisis towards being seen as ‘weak’. Daring Greatly is about halting the voice in your head that tells you you can’t and steering away from shame. After 12 years of research Brene Brown discovers the strength in this supposed ‘weakness’ and how harnessing it can provide clarity and purpose.
WHO IT'S FOR: EVERYONE! A guide on how to embrace
vulnerability and be brave in our pursuits, however big or small they may be.
WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: It’s a beautiful book that
encourages you to deep dive into the emotional cavern that is vulnerability and gives you hope for a more present way of living. Sometimes we can so easily let the monkey on our shoulder win and convince us we are wrong for believing in ourselves. Brene Brown is a master of words and explaining feelings.
NOTABLE QUOTE: “Vulnerability is the birthplace of
love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity. It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.”

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
ON THURSDAY MERCURY MOVES INTO
fiery Sagittarius. The planet that represents the intellect and travel is definitely gaining momentum, but still retracing his steps due to his recent retrograde motion. Issues you have been dealing with in early November might pop up again and call for reassessment. During the weekend we have four celestial bodies (Moon, Mars, Chiron and Neptune) in the watery world of Pisces. There is great creative potential and it is also perfect for a retreat to connect with nature, as well as your inspiration and visionary abilities. The emotional tide is extremely high and it might be very difficult to focus on your ‘to do’ list. Monday is the best day of the week to take care of business and practical issues. A Venus/Saturn sextile supports a careful, sensible and thorough approach, while a Mars/Pluto sextile may open an opportunity for better cooperation, or finding workable solutions to share power and influence. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

The 10 of Swords might cloud your overall experience during this week. Negative thoughts have a spiralling downwards effect and might make you feel powerless. Self-depreciation is not helpful, but the attitude of gratitude for the things that are currently working out for you would work wonders.
With the Queen of Wands at your side your confidence and faith in your abilities is at an all-time high. This week you may be able to create a powerful impression that opens doors and minds. You are graced with vitality and optimism, and may come closer to realising and fulfilling your potential. New avenues and opportunities can appear almost magically…
i GEMINI
The Emperor Tarot card appeals to your leadership qualities and, whether you want it or not, you may be asked to step up. You have an enormous capacity to model empowered leadership that serves and benefits the greater good. This is also an opportune time for advancing a business that is dear to your heart.
j CANCER
The 6 of Disks promises success and accomplishment. It is a great card for manifesting what you want. You are resourceful and thrifty, therefore others would benefit greatly from your mentoring, while you enjoy the process of offering your knowledge and experience to someone who is keen to learn.

With the 8 of Wands drawn and the current astro climate, Monday might bring a great opportunity. If you strike while the iron is hot you can transform any problem or obstacle and resolve it in a way that benefits everyone involved. Alternatively you may also receive an important, positive message.
The Ace of Disks is the highest manifestation card in the deck. It focuses on material success as a natural extension of your belief in your worthiness. Combined with your practical, down-to-earth organisation skills, success should be a given and on its way this week.
a LIBRA
With the 7 of Wands drawn for this week you might have to hold out against pressure and assert yourself, otherwise you will be taken advantage of. Not an easy task during this watery week when you naturally have an innate striving for harmony! The dilemma may be whether to choose inner or outer harmony. Both might be difficult to attain right now.
b SCORPIO
The Queen of Swords speaks her truth no matter what the situation is. With her by your side you are even more forthright than usual and you get to the heart of any matter quickly. Your direct and open approach might save you many discussions and detours this week, while you also show people where you stand.
The 8 of Cups indicates a certain weariness and you may be plagued by the after-effects of overextending yourself. If you feel emotionally exhausted it is important to make time and space for a little r & r, even if that means you have to abandon or change plans for your birthday celebration!
The Priestess’ gifts are right perception and quick assessment of any situation. This happens more by intuition and gut-feeling than by rational analysis. She may assist you this week in finding agreeable solutions for complicated issues by tuning into unityconsciousness, or by choosing benevolent collaboration over competition.
e AQUARIUS
The 6 of Cups symbolises goodwill and the ability to joyfully care and share with family, friends and especially children. This week may bring many happy moments where giving and receiving are equally pleasurable and beneficial. It is the perfect time for a get-together, a bit of reminiscing and having a marvellous time.
f PISCES
The Chariot Tarot card represents a time of confidence, newly-found determination and clear goals. If you don’t allow yourself to get distracted by old, selfsabotaging habits, you can create new realities that expand and deepen your true nature. Sustained effort leads to sure success.

DEAR KEENWA, Currently house-hunting. Woah. Saw an amazing ad on gumtree for a studio that would be perfect. It did say no couples, or dogs, or smoking. My partner and I only smoke the occasional rollie, and our pooch is practically human, yet I've had no reply, what is wrong with people? - Gumfreak
DEAR GUMFREAK, I was looking for accomodation on gumtree once for my children and I. I stated our needs – a couple of rooms, fireplace, bath, a location within 15 minutes to school. What I got, were a whole bunch of calls inviting us to showings at a house in the hills that sounded spot on. What I discovered by the third phone call was that the landlord was a naturalist. A naturalist that hosted weekend gatherings with other naturalists. I went with Rumi's theory that what I was seeking, is actually seeking me.
DEAR KEENWA, I'm a single dad who babysits their kids on the weekend. I keep telling their mum that I just can't afford to pay child support, even though she has them all week, but she's riding my ass. Centrelink recommends I pay her five bucks a day, but in Indo that'd get me three full meals! I would know as I've just been there on a surfing holiday. - Poor Dad
DEAR POOR DAD, Oh here's some advice, go ring up God from the nearest payphone reverse charge of course, and tell him your sad story and see if he can give you a refund on your groms? Explain that you didn't read the try before you buy small print on the parenting policy. I've heard he's a hard man to catch, so you might want to grow some balls in the interim, as yours seem to be failing you.

This week's mantra
GO ON A RAMPAGE OF APPRECIATION. So often we are speeding through our days with such velocity that we forget to slow down enough to say: "I see you. I love you." But when we do make time to spread some love IT FEELS SO GOOD. Both as the giver and the receiver. We all know how receiving even a small compliment or kindness makes us feel positively buoyant, sending us floating through the rest of our day. But did you ever notice how you feel lighter when you lift someone up? Appreciation is a win-win. So don't be lazy. Speak up. Don’t be stingy with your praise. You have an unlimited, self renewing bank account of love to draw from. In fact, the more you give, the more you have to give. So put your heart where your mouth is. Sing the praises of your people. Let them feel your love. Never underestimate the power you have to make someone's day. Dish out some good vibes today. Go on a rampage of appreciation.
Will your business make the most of summer? Deadlines for our popular festive December and January issues are rapidly approaching.

The
Mammas S PAPPA THE
AND
Holiday tips with Azzmin Francis @FLORA.ADORER HOW DO YOU GET THROUGH SCHOOL HOLIDAYS LIVING IN BYRON? Avoid Byron town mostly! Generally, we go to the beach in Brunswick Heads or the skate park in South Golden Beach.
HOW DO YOU THINK RAISING A FAMILY HERE DIFFERS TO THE CITY? It’s a whole lot easier. The sense of community, smaller population, it feels a lot safer for children here. Though I do really miss the exposure to multi-cultural communities in the city, the food and the wonderful diversity of people.
WHAT’S THE KIDS’ MOST UNUSUALLY EXCITABLE ACTIVITY? Catching yabbies
or ‘lobsters’ as my youngest calls them in the creek at my Dad’s.
TIPS TO GET THEM AWAY FROM SCREENS
10 BYRON BAZAAR
AND INTO THE BUSH? We are lucky that
Grandpa’s place is 70 acres of rainforest in The Pocket and is completely off grid. EASIEST QUICK TRIP DOWN THE COAST? We are going to check out Moonee beach next weekend. We haven’t been there before but are going to give it a go, it’s hard to find camping spots that are doggy friendly.
WHAT’S YOUR BEST BRIBERY TECHNIQUE WITHOUT USING FOOD? Taking them to one of the many skate parks we frequent! Or to a mountain bike track in Lismore.
EASIEST AND SAFEST THING FOR THE KIDS TO COOK? My eldest makes his
own vegan burger with a ‘fry’s’ vegan schnitzel, avocado, tomato, lettuce and veganaise on a bun.

long ones at Barra de la Cruz in Mexico last year.
READING WHAT: Perfume by Patrick Süskind. SPARE TIME Surfing mostly. Lately I’ve been trying to IS SPENT: learn how to roll around on a skateboard.
It’s hard and scary, but fun. I also enjoy drinking a beer, especially if it’s Friday and I’ve just finished work and the sun is warm and the beer is cold.
HOW DO YOU Have a cup of tea and a chocolate-coated SLOW DOWN: scotch finger on the front step. NEXT TRIP Probably to another bloody wedding. All WILL BE: of my friends are getting married. MEANING OF I’m far too young and silly to know, but LIFE: Oscar Wilde said: ‘Life is too important to

TELL US ABOUT SPACE FOUNDATION? Space Foundation
is a collective of inspiring Yoga and Pilates teachers sharing our craft in the heart of Byron Bay. Space was born out of a desire to shake up the status quo. WHAT IS YOUR DAILY EXERCISE ROUTINE? I meditate each morning, followed quickly by a power pose (yes!) and depending on the swell either surf or yoga. I can teach anywhere from 6-15 classes per week so enjoy a wind down by walking to the lighthouse or interval sprints at Captain Cooks. HOW DO YOU MEASURE SUCCESS? At work: The smiles on the faces of our students at the end of each class, and being told that they feel at home and welcome in our studio. At home: Currently by how my 13-year-old is developing an online jewellery business (monkey see-monkey do). HOW DO YOU KEEP HEALTHY? Ha. What? Oh, ok…I eat well (wholefood style), exercise and enjoy life. I do need to drink more water though.
IF THE WORLD WAS ENDING TOMORROW, WHAT WOULD YOU DO TODAY? Take my daughter by the hand and walk
along the beach with her, and tell her how much she means to me (for the billionth time). I would also look every single person in the eye that crossed my path and remind them that they are in fact truly divine, and their presence on this planet is very necessary. We all just want to be loved! WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON CLIMATE CHANGE? It’s not too late. If corporations and government work together to change the nature of our consumption. For example: Banning plastic and stopping the subsidisation of the dairy and meat industries, we have a shot. It’s also up to the individual to make better decisions on the daily. Shoot to spacefoundation.com.au for health inspo & ideas.
