Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST

THE NEXT TWO WEEKS ARE TRULY

Capricornian! Sun, Mercury, Saturn and Pluto all reside in the sign that is famous for ambitious goals and disciplined, methodical implementation. Mercury the messenger passes over Saturn, Sun and Pluto and keeps us busy and on target. This may be a very intense week and various ‘make it or break it’ situations may arise. On Friday the Sun has its yearly rendezvous with Pluto; determination and the competitive edge are at an alltime high. Over the weekend the flavour is serious and focused. Monday might prove challenging too, with two very opposite astro flavours: one logical and rational (Mercury conjunct Saturn), the other expansive, creative and possibly confusing or deceptive (Jupiter in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces). This is not a good time to make far-reaching decisions! However, these aspects might work very well for advancing a creative project or for finding a practical and grounding application of an idea or invention. On Tuesday a Mercury/Neptune sextile supports any of the above in a fabulous way, with space for vision as well as reality and subtleties. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

HYDE & STONE

g ARIES

The 10 of Wands describes a state of inner tension which limits your vision and scope. Your mind might tell you that you have to keep persisting, whereas your heart says, enough is enough. It cries out for more freedom and less responsibility. To avoid a big blow-up, you might have to spend some time alone to sort things out.

h TAURUS

The Queen of Disks resonates with the earthy and determined astro flavour of this week. She symbolises a mature, feminine and nurturing approach to any issue. With her as your mentor, you feel sure-footed and able to make decisions that lead to greater health, not only of the body but also concerning finances, relationships and work.

i GEMINI

The 4 of Disks might confront you with a dilemma concerning personal power, relationships and communication. What brings better results? Setting clear limits and boundaries as soon as you feel irritated by someone’s transgression or, for the sake of peace and harmony, allowing indiscretion?

j CANCER

The Knight of Wands is passionate about his mission and ready to leap forward into uncharted territory. He assists you with a ‘can-do’ attitude and raises your inner confidence to a level that allows you to follow your vision without the usual self-doubt. Therefore big, bold and beautiful things can happen.

k LEO

The Priestess Tarot card suggests withdrawing from too much involvement in the mundane world and seeking guidance from within for all important issues. She prompts you to feel, not over-think and to collaborate, not compete with family, friends and co-workers.

l VIRGO

The Ace of Swords’ gifts are mental clarity and objectivity. Equipped with these you gain a clear understanding of any underlying issues, and resolve any confronting situations in a peaceful way, while staying honest and truthful. New insights and awareness of subtleties may lead to more tolerance and a new perspective.

a LIBRA

The 6 of Disks promises recognition and success concerning work, career and finances. Your resourcefulness and knowledge are admired by others. You can trust that your contributions are valued, and as soon as you share your gifts, you recognise that you get rewarded in many ways that enhance your life way beyond material gain.

b SCORPIO

The 3 of Cups indicates a marvellous time; great emotional fulfilment comes with open-hearted caring and sharing. Giving and receiving flow easily and there is no need to keep score-cards. The more you delve into the teamspirit the more you are able to enjoy the moment with all the delights it offers.

STYLE AND SHOPPING SERVICES

c SAGITTARIUS

With the Knight of Disks drawn you may feel tired of the very well-known scenario of ‘same-old, sameold’. It exhausts you to think about persisting and it is equally draining to imagine a different path. Maybe you just endure a little longer, while focusing on recharging and regaining your normal energy levels before you make bigger changes?

d CAPRICORN

The 10 of Disks in combination with this week’s astro flavour clearly focuses on business, success and wealth. Don’t forget that lasting success and affluence is not only a matter of working hard but also of aligning yourself with the principles of worthiness and therefore magnetically attracting abundance.

e AQUARIUS

With the Prince of Swords drawn you may be examining what motivates you to do the things you do, and to question whether there are enough reasons to remain on your chosen path. If you feel limited or boxed-in in any way, this is a good week to allow some more outrageous and creative thinking; it may lead to a new perspective.

f PISCES

The Chariot Tarot card heralds a new beginning. Your motivation, inspiration and determination to be the change that you want to see in the world, moves mountains of old limitations. Therefore you are free to create new realities that expand and deepen your true nature.

I'm an artist currently based interstate. I specialise in non-organic materials, of a phallic nature. It's really important to me as an artist to spread the men's movement, considering its so under-supported globally. Even though I'm super underground (just like Banksy, I only install my pieces in the night to protect my identity), I want my work to really stand out, stop traffic you know? My agent reckons The Shire and I could be a fantastic match, but I don't know, do you think you could consult the community on my behalf? - Half-Cocked

DEAR HALF-COCKED, Okay, well now I've really heard it all. Who even are you? I'm totally flabbergasted at your nerve, not because you are oblivious to the fact that there are already too many dicks on the Byron dance floor, but the avant-garde idea of consulting the community? Does this originate from Europe somewhere?

DEAR KEENWA, My woman is at me to be a more sacred masculine boyfriend to match her divine femininity. WTF is this? I walk our dog sometimes, put the toilet seat down, and have watched The Notebook at least twice, and it's still not enough? She reckons this is set to be the year of the man, but I don't know, I'm tired. Superior Man

DEAR SUPERIOR MAN, Clementine Ford wrote in her book Boys Will Be Boys that we should expect more from our boys. I think that means like without organising a marching band, and pulling out the red carpet each time you do your own laundry, or care for your own house. As weird as it sounds, divine goddess or not, she can't manage all the domestic chores on her own. Perhaps you could show her how emotional it makes you feel that she expects you carry 50 percent of the load.

This week's mantra

FOLDED WINGS WON’T HELP YOU FLY I know you have secrets, baby. Those dreams you have that are so bold you dare not speak them. That vision for your life that is so vast and so bright you can only squint in its direction. Those dreams, that vision are a peak into your potential. So why are you keeping them secret? Why are you superstitiously guarding them? I’ll tell you why. FEAR. Because what if you fail? The (misplaced) shame of potential failure keeps us frozen on the spot. Or only inching toward our full potential. Walking tentatively like a bird on foot, ineffectually picking its way forward, eyes on the ground, heading nowhere far and nowhere fast. Here’s the thing. You, dear one, were designed to fly. So, if you’ve been picking your way forward on foot, with wings clasped close to your body, hear this: folded wings won’t help you fly. Un-confine yourself. Trust in your in-born buoyancy. Unfold those wings. Feel their width. Then leap. Each wingbeat is the pulse of your purpose, thrusting you forward toward full potential. It takes strength to fly, yes, but your soul is streamlined to slip through resistance and keep you soaring ever onward, every forward, ever upward.

ANY CLICHÉ 2019 I actually haven’t made a single one. RESOLUTIONS Probably the same-same ol’.. re-align, WORTH SHARING: try to be a better me, spend more time in

the ocean / nature and add value to my relationships.

BYRON BAY FOR It is what it is! A quirky little bubble in a YOU IS: very, very beautiful place. There are so

many worlds here that run on entirely different plains, so this place is what you decide to see.

READING WHAT: Killing Commendatore by Haruki Murakami. ANY WORLDLY Actually yes! I’m pretty fascinated by FACTS UP YOUR this one. Apparently, when a woman is SLEEVE:

pregnant and the fetus she is carrying is a female, at 4 months of pregnancy, that little baby girl already carries all of the eggs that she will have for the rest of her life. In that case, that means that carried by our mother, we all spent 5 months in our grandmothers womb. Cool!

Murder On The Reef Documentary

JANUARY 24TH, 6:30-9PM / BYRON COMMUNITY CENTRE The documentary takes us on a journey into the heart of the issues that are affecting our Great Barrier Reef. From the burning of fossil fuels to the heated classrooms of our political leaders, the film exposes the lack of unity between government, private sector and the people.

Ballina Australia Day Food Truck Fest JANUARY 26TH, 3-9PM / 68 CHERRY ST, BALLINA

Bringing America’s notorious food truck destination, Portland, to Ballina! And who doesn’t love a good food truck? Apparently it’s the best food truck fest on the Northern Rivers. You can bring a camping chair, a picnic blanket, or sit yourself at one of the dine in spots and grab yourself a beer. There’s free entry, it’s family friendly and you can celebrate Australia Day in humble style, all while respecting and remembering who the traditional custodians of the land are.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A discussion with filmmaker and environmental scientist Allen Dobrovolsky, chief editor Alex Fitzwater, Byron Mayor Simon Richardson, and coral reef scientists. Tickets are now on sale via the Byron Community Centre website byroncentre.com.au, with 10% of all sales going to the Australian Marine Conservation Society's Fight for Our Reef Campaign.

Matt Griffiths @SEISMIC_ACTIVITIES_STORE

WHAT’S THE PREMISE BEHIND YOUR NEW RETAIL SPACE, ‘SEISMIC ACTIVITIES’ IN TOWN? Seismic Activities is a

lifestyle store in central Byron Bay, hosting unique and carefully curated brands that are both nationally and internationally recognised. The aim is to bring counter-culture back to the bay, concentrating on brands that speak to a worldly audience who appreciate fabric, construction, design and graphics. The space is designed to reflect contrasting materials, combining dark aesthetics with soft colours, challenging your eye to invite you into a confronting but welcoming environment. Each label is assigned a clothes rack, where men’s and women’s items are merchandised together, allowing the whole story of the labels range to unravel while expelling the conventional idea that men’s and women’s clothing should be separate.

LOOKING FOR STAFF? WE CAN HELP! BOOKING DEADLINE - MIDNIGHT MONDAY - PUBLISHED THURSDAY

EXPLAIN YOUR VIEW OF THE CULTURE IN BYRON BAY? For

the most part cliché but with a few really cool things and some inspired / inspiring people.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME? Like all great

ideas, I thought it up in the car. That’s where most of my ground-breaking ideas happen or when listening to dance music while sewing.

DO YOU THINK THE NEW ‘MERCATO’ DEVELOPMENT HAPPENING ACROSS THE ROAD WILL AFFECT YOU? There

will obviously be an increase in foot traffic, whether or not that traffic is interested in SA is another question. SA will grow slowly as people understand the ideas behind it more.

CONSPIRACY THEORIES? The Matrix was a documentary. Go visit Matt at his store on Jonson Street or check out his wares online.
