DEAR KEENWA, My kid has been at me to let her have a sleepover at one of her classmate's joint. I dropped her off expecting a game of charades, possibly a pillow fight, and a midnight snack before bed. Turns out they were out until four in the morning at the Ozigo, and the host parents weren't even home. They're eleven! Where are the Byron folks? Shouldn't they be protecting our children? - Rainbow Parents

DEAR RAINBOW PARENTS, Oh those Byron pre-attachment parents. These are the crew that attended a tantra retreat in the hills and stayed on, possibly conceiving that very night. Who has time for parenting where there are mantras to be sung, green smoothies to be made, and workshops to attend? These ones know they don't own their children man, they trust spirit to support their offspring so they can devote each and every moment to their own spiritual awakening.

DEAR KEENWA, I'm in love with a backpacker. Like for legit. We both love surfing, #vanlife and the ocean. The problem is, his tourist visa is running out. I totes see my future with him...but I'm a marriage-o-phobe. He's no spring chicken, although he's keeping me young if you know what I mean. Got any tips for factoring love into the law? Where the visa at? - Lost In Translation

DEAR LOST IN TRANSLATION, Love knows no borders, right? I'm sure if you just gave Trump a friendly phone-call he could organise something for you, considering your sweet story. Or how about dropping One Nation's Pauline Hansen a line? Here's a fun fact - she married a Polish immigrant once upon a time, so I'd say she'll understand. Side note: if your love can handle the traffic on the Ewingsdale Road border, he really does sound like a keeper.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST

THURSDAY TO SATURDAY IS A TIME OF

increased inner tension, and Saturday promises to be very intense, with four aspects exact on the same day! First of all we have an inspiring fire trine from Venus, who is already very close to Jupiter in Sagittarius to Mars in Aries. This brings forth strong, passionate and romantic feelings that hopefully fall on fertile ground with the object of your desire. A Mercury/Pluto union in Capricorn intensifies the thought process and requires depth in conversations. A sextile from Sun (Capricorn) to Chiron (Pisces) also favours profound connections; maybe some healing may emerge out of an honest exchange of feelings. The spanner in the works comes with Sun square Uranus in Aries. It is very easy to be overly reactive if the ego gets bruised by a disturbing dispute. On Sunday the Sun moves into innovative, but quirky, Aquarius; this may help with viewing issues that came up on Saturday in a new way. Monday’s Full Moon in Leo is a Super Moon, which means the Moon is closest to Earth and therefore appears very big when rising over the horizon. This is also a total Lunar Eclipse, but it is not visible from here. On top of all these superlatives we also have two strong squares to deal with that bring a lot of tension! One is from Venus, conjunct Jupiter, to Neptune and the other one from Mars to Saturn. This highlights relationships again. Some folks may have to experience the gap between what they truly desire and the reality of their love-life as inner or outer conflict. High expectations definitely bring disappointment, and a Mercury/ Uranus square (exact on Wednesday) makes discussions rather erratic. A Mercury/Chiron sextile suggests that humour might bring a way of healing. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

l VIRGO

The Prince of Disks suggests moving slowly, carefully, but with equal determination during this full-on week. You get the best results if you stick to the tried and true, and take care of all the little things that need your attention.

The 7 of Cups indicates that, in reaction to feeling emotionally overwhelmed, you might indulge in your preferred addictive response patterns. In search of comfort, this could mean over-eating, -drinking, -shopping, but any excessive behaviour has its price as you know…

i GEMINI

When the Death Tarot card appears it is time for profound change, letting go and moving on. On a mental level you might have outgrown some old, selfsabotaging patterns, but in daily life and in moments of reactivity you may still be tied to past behaviour and habits.

j CANCER

With the Full Moon in your sign and the Chariot Tarot card drawn you might find the tension that is building during the weekend almost unbearable. Monday brings a release, new determination and confidence in your abilities.

The Princess of Disks highlights your creative powers, such as the analysis of what is and the visualisation of what could be, but under the best possible, positive circumstances. This sets you on an inspired course to expand and transform your reality and to reinvent yourself.

a LIBRA

The 7 of Wands indicates tension all around you. You might have to hold out against pressure and assert yourself, even at the cost of peace and harmony. As you activate your backbone you find that inner equilibrium is more important than outer coherence.

b SCORPIO

The 6 of Wands represents well-deserved victory and success. As a very caring and intuitive individual, you are not invested in triumph over another, but you rather aim for a win-win situation. This makes you feel at your very best.

The 2 of Cups symbolises love in action and would like to inspire you to resist habitual reactivity, stop and ask: ‘What would love do in this moment?’ The tenderness that this question evokes may also be applied to the self…

c SAGITTARIUS

With the 4 of Cups drawn it is time to re-evaluate your situation and get back to the fundamentals of what you really want in life, and to look at what has been unlived so far. Take some time for contemplation, which will provide you with a new and inspiring perspective.

d CAPRICORN

With the Emperor Tarot card drawn, an emphasis on planets in Capricorn and a Mercury/Pluto conjunction, also in Capricorn, this is a big week! It is time to own your leadership qualities, your foresight and your insight, and apply them to everything in an extremely pragmatic way.

e AQUARIUS

The Ace of Wands represents the raw and undiluted creative force; it can be highly constructive, but also destructive. Therefore you may need to take great care about how to channel this enormous energy that is at your disposal into a direction that benefits everyone involved.

f PISCES

The 7 of Swords describes the cycle of negative thinking, low self-worth and wanting to escape in some way. This is self-perpetuating and frequently self-sabotaging. Take courage and heart and commit to becoming the person you really want to be.

HEAVILY Meditated

TM

With Caitlin Cady

This week's mantra

FLEX YOUR MEDITATION MUSCLES ON THE REGULAR A regular meditation practice undoubtedly gifts us with the resilience and stability to steady ourselves when life gets choppy. And though I tend to meditate more when I’m feeling challenged, let me be clear meditation isn’t just for tough times. What I mean is, don’t just meditate when shit hits the fan. You don’t do 100 situps the day you go on vacation to make sure you have a 6 pack for the pool, right? You don’t go run 20 miles the day of a marathon to get ready, do you? If you’re keen to be fit, you work on your fitness on the regular. You train your muscles repeatedly and consistently, so when the big day or the holiday comes, you’re prepared. Meditation is no different. Meditate ALL the time so that when the going gets tough, you have a reserve of resilience and the foundation of inner stability to call upon. Because the content of your life is always changing. Storms come. But how you experience them is up to you. Yes, you can react. Flip your lid. Stress out. Freak out. Have an anxiety attack. Get wrapped up in worst case scenarios and doomsday vibes. OR....meditate on the regular so you're ready to stand firm and bounce back, no matter what life throws your way. So get your ass on the cushion, and flex those medi-muscles on the regular, boo. P.S. If you’re ready to start meditating, I’d love to give you hand. Details are below!

This week's review

TITLE: Calypso AUTHOR: David Sedaris NUMBER OF PAGES: 160 EST. READ TIME: 4 hours and 10 minutes PRICE: $15.00 WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Calypso is a collection of essays

written by David Sedaris. We find him reflecting on the last 30 years of life with his family and the impact they’ve had on his persona. He reveals intimate stories and explores topics like his health, the death of his younger sister and what it means to be a gay man in the 21st century. Sedaris is unapologetically funny and most of the time wildly inappropriate as he confronts his own mortality head on.

WHO IT'S FOR: Fans of dark humour and sarcasm. WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: To try and describe David

Sedaris’s humour without directly quoting him would feel blasphemous. He is a natural writer, disarming and capable of bringing you into the fold with a directness and openness that feels effortless. A reminder that all families have their bouts of crazy and that a healthy amount of dysfunction is OK. In a world of political correctness Sedaris helps his readers come up for air. I loved this book. You’ll find yourself reading his other work if you’re a newbie to his writing. Calypso is touching, true to life and full of laughs.

NOTABLE QUOTE: “In France the most often used word is “connerie,” which means “bullshit,” and in America it’s hands-down “awesome,” which has replaced “incredible,” “good,” and even “just OK.” Pretty much everything that isn’t terrible is awesome in America now.”

MODELS 18+ YEARS REQUIRED Nude females for Picture and People magazines. No experience required. All shapes and sizes. Backpackers welcome. Good money. Professional accredited photographer

Q&A A Q U IC K C H

A T W IT H .. .

Jake Morgan @JAKEMORGANPHOTOGRAPHY

WHAT MAKES YOU WANT TO TAKE A PHOTO? The thought

of not seeing that moment in time again makes me want to capture so I can see it again and to share with the world.

WHAT’S IT LIKE TO BE DEEP IN THE OCEAN TRYING TO GET THE PERFECT SHOT? SCARY? Not scary at all, the

unknown is exciting. For me, being deep in the ocean is a sense of calm from the busy world we live in. I grew up by the ocean so being in the ocean feels like home wherever I may be.

HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED? Analysing other

photographers work and trying to go that step better. As a freelancer, there are always things to improve on and new things to try with images so creating goals is also motivation. I want to be one of the best at what I do and that's with anything I do in life.

IF YOU WERE TO LIVE ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE AND WHY? Anywhere with some decent land so my dog can run a muck with a nice reef break out the front. That would be ideal. Preferably an island in the Mentawais.

WHAT DO YOU THINK THE FUTURE OF PHOTOGRAPHY MIGHT LOOK LIKE? Crazy advances such as contact

lenses which act as cameras which to take a photo requires doing a single blink. Technology is moving so fast so there will be a lot of new things coming to photography in the coming years.

IF NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC ASKED TO USE YOUR PHOTOS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Let my family know straight

away, screenshot the email as proof so they know I’m not lying and then pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Have a stalk of Jake’s Instagram to see his wonderful work.
