Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
FROM THURSDAY TO MONDAY WE ARE
graced with multiple opportunities to overcome obstacles. People are more willing to solve problems concerning relationships, communication and teamwork; therefore new possibilities and innovative solutions to old problems may appear. A Sun/Jupiter sextile opens the mind to new perspectives and a Mercury/Mars sextile inspires positive interaction. On Sunday Mercury moves into creative and compassionate Pisces and forms a stimulating sextile to Uranus; exciting and unusual ideas might be conceived. From Sunday onwards Mars is dangerously close to Uranus (exact on Wednesday). This union happens in the last degrees of Aries and might manifest as a fiery, passionate explosion of ingenious brainwaves, or come about as a sudden change of direction. Beware of accidents. Patience, common-sense and diligence might be missing in this mix and it is too easy to make a hasty decision, while feeling absolutely righteous. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES
With the Fool Tarot card drawn you are excited about change and ready to take a leap into the unknown. Even though the card truly supports your spontaneity, the astro climate from Sunday onwards sends out a warning about hasty action. Make sure you calculate the risks of a new mission before you leap!
h TAURUS
The Chariot implies renewed confidence in your ability to achieve your goals. You are ready to focus in the most determined way and nothing can distract you or lead you off your chosen path. This may be an extremely satisfying week because you are creating new realities that expand and deepen your nature.
i GEMINI
The 9 of Disks describes the finer things in life that you can enjoy once you have laid solid foundations and things are starting to work out with more ease and grace. As you start to embrace the fruits of your labour, take some time to reflect on how far you have come and how important it has been to trust yourself completely.
j CANCER
The 2 of Cups speaks of love as the all-prevailing life-force. In every moment of your daily activities, during all your habitual actions and reactions, you can ask yourself, ’what would love do?’ From this place your attention and priorities may shift, and you are able to nurture and care for yourself and others in a beautifully balanced way.

The Knight of Swords pictures a hero who is very passionate about his direction and fully absorbed by his mission. With him by your side you are quick on the uptake, and precise in calculating risks and opportunities. Your inner alignment of intention, willpower and focus gives you wings to fly; just make sure that your quest is benevolent as well.
l VIRGO
The 8 of Cups indicates emotional exhaustion and burn-out. The more your energy levels are depleted, the harder it is to gather enough determination for change. If you feel like you have nothing more to give it is time to nurture yourself, recharge your batteries and dust yourself off, before you try to help others.
a LIBRA
The 10 of Wands represents a state of oppression. This may be experienced internally or externally; it diminishes your life-force and has a wetblanket effect on your overall experience. If this is you right now, contemplate which beliefs, thought-patterns and habits are out-dated and what would set you free.
b SCORPIO
The Queen of Swords is forthright and witty, but also at times brutally honest. The brusqueness that can come with it, may be experienced by some as the proverbial Scorpionic sting. You see right through any pretence and invite others to not spare you the truth either.
c SAGITTARIUS
The Queen of Cups suggests devoting time to travel inwards and retreat from a busy schedule for a while. Especially from Sunday onwards all signposts point towards slowing down, smelling the roses and trusting your intuition. Spending time in nature recharges your whole being.
d CAPRICORN
The 6 of Cups brings a little more softness and sweetness into your life. The more you tune into your natural receptivity the more you find the pleasures of giving, receiving and feeling worthy all the while. Spending time with children may turn out to be a special gift this week.
e AQUARIUS
The 6 of Wands indicates that you set your intentions and focus on victory. You want to pass the test, fulfil the mission and achieve success. As a humanitarian you are acutely aware of the fact that the only victory that is truly satisfying is the one that facilitates winwin situations. Go for it…
f PISCES
The 4 of Wands represents the completion of a cycle. The feeling of satisfaction with what has been achieved mixes with the excitement and delight of opening up to new possibilities and adventures. Don’t forget to celebrate your success before you venture out beyond the known into new territory.

DEAR KEENWA, Relationships. Oh, man. I have read so many books and participated in so many workshops, but still find love very tricky. Am I setting myself up for failure when it comes to fulfilling another's needs, or should they meet them themselves? Then why do we need anybody? Do we? Hello, are you there? - Existential Love
DEAR EXISTENTIAL LOVE, The love philosopher Alain de Botton would say we attract the very people that are bad for us, based on the familiar response in our neurochemistry when we meet them. Sex expert Esther Perel says relating is a tightrope between same and difference which breeds polarity, but that at any given moment, you either want to have sex with your partner or kill them. All the male spiritual gurus avoided human love and went and lived in caves lone-wolf style, so you're doing well brother sticking around to find out otherwise. Lemme know if you do.

We live in the single mama capital of Australia. Is there something in the water? Or something missing in the water? Also, I hate the word single. In the US they use the term indie mum, but I'm not down with that either, any other ideas? - Just Mum
DEAR JUST MUM, Victim. Welfare. A study recently showed that that's what more than 80% of the population associate when they hear the title single mum. Here's what I'm down with, the stats that support single mums are changing the face of American politics and the worldwide economy, leading the anti-vax movement and sexual awakening of the feminine in general. That just by being single she is breaking apart patriarchy and the institution of marriage, motherhood, and other big brother oppressive systems. Sounds more radical than single to me. Perhaps they replaced the fluoride with sovereignty when the single mamas protested against keeping our waterways clean?

With Caitlin Cady
It’s hard to be vulnerable. It’s uncomfortable to unveil the raw and fragile aspects of ourselves. It’s hard to show how much it hurts, how scared we are, how lost or lonely we feel. It’s hard to lay out our pain, piece by piece. Sharing our failings, fears and (so-called) flaws can feel like taking a public inventory of our most intimate experiences. It can leave us feeling exposed and unguarded, worse than if we’d just kept quiet. It’s true that some people will betray the sacredness of your trust and vulnerability. Some people will use your pain as fodder for gossip. Some will use it as a way to make themselves feel superior. Some will betray your vulnerability by simply not grasping the gravity of what you’ve shared.

This week's mantra
One option to avoid all of this is to build a big wall. Let no one in. Lock that shit down. Keep quiet. This feels safe. It’s consistent, easy to stick to. A policy of total privacy. But it’s also a recipe for accumulating and storing our experiences somatically, packing our cells with unprocessed emotions poisoned with the shame of being made unspeakable. This kind of emotional vigilance also isolates us, preventing us from creating any kind of true intimacy with others. Which means we miss out on closeness, connection, community, collective problem solving, healing, belonging and joy. All things that require vulnerability and trust. So here’s my suggestion: Be vulnerable sometimes. The truth is that some people are deserving of your trust and vulnerability. And some people are just...not. Vulnerability works best and achieves its highest aims (connecting us, helping us heal) when it is met with respect and reverence. Don’t shut down. Be brave enough to be vulnerable, just be discerning about who is worthy of your vulnerability. Share accordingly.

This week's review
TITLE: Small Fry AUTHOR: Lisa Brennan-Jobs NUMBER OF PAGES: 304 EST. READ TIME: 6 hours and 10 minutes PRICE: $22.50 WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Lisa Brennan-Jobs is your average
young girl. She fights with her mum, finds it hard to fit in at school and her estranged father is Steve Jobs. Yeah, you know, the guy who made Apple cool. The guy we owe our iPhones, iPod and MacBooks to. Although their relationship is far from regular. In fact, Steve Jobs disowns his daughter for the first half of her life as she tries so desperately to fit into his. Steve Jobs’ rise to success is the backdrop to this father-daughter love story about what it means to be a parent and what it means to be someone’s child. WHO IT'S FOR: If you know anything about Steve Jobs this book will interest you. Lisa Brennan-Jobs flips the traditional movie version of his story on it’s head and gives a balanced insight into him as an enigma. WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: When I read books about the relationship between parents and their children I’m always pausing to reflect on how my children will remember me. There really are two sides to every story, every moment. Things are constantly misconstrued with bad communication - something that Steve Jobs seemed to be an expert in. I didn’t want this book to end, but it gave me the satisfying ending I’d hoped for. NOTABLE QUOTE: “I see now that we were at crosspurposes. For him, I was a blot on a spectacular ascent, as our story did not fit with the narrative of greatness and virtue he might have wanted for himself. My existence ruined his streak. For me, it was the opposite: the closer I was to him, the less I would feel ashamed; he was part of the world, and he would accelerate me into the light.” This week's review written by Jessie Hilton @jessieahilton

HAVING BEEN SPONSORED BY BIG BRANDS SUCH AS O’NEILL, WHAT’S BETTER – FREE SURFING OR CONTEST SURFING?
Free surfing for sure. Sometimes competitive surfing can feel like a bit of pressure and not as fun. The great thing about competing is how it brings a lot of the community together and you get to see old friends and make new ones too.
LOOKING FOR AN AIRBNB MANAGER?
Detailed, professional and reliable cleaning and maintenance services available. Great references. Call Shelly for rates and availability. 0431 395 855
HOW ARE YOU PARTAKING IN THIS YEAR’S BBSF? I’ll be
there on the Sunday for the freestyle and stoke, as well as the McTavish trim. I’ll also be at a few of the events around that day hopefully.
EVER PLAN TO COMBINE BOTH PASSIONS OF COOKING AND SURFING? Well I hope that when I finish my
apprenticeship, I’ll be able to travel places with it and surf. Just like my recent trip to Tassie for cooking, I was able to surf a bunch of new spots too.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE MORE OF IN THE WOMEN’S SURFING WORLD? I’m not sure. I feel as though
women’s surfing has come a long way in the last few years and it’s in a good spot. Things like equal prize money has been long overdue and it’s great to see it finally happening.
HOW DID YOU GET SO GOOD AT NOSE-RIDING? Surfing The
Pass and Wategos pretty much every day. And a good board helps as well.
WHERE IS YOUR NEXT DREAM SURF LOCATION? My brother just got back from Sri Lanka and the waves there looked pretty mint, as did the local food. So that seems like it could be a great place to visit next.
Come to Wategos on Sunday the 24th to see Roisin surf like no other.
