Also on Saturday, Seven Mile Brewery down in Ballina will be hosting a Westpac Rescue Helicopter fundraiser from noon-6pm, with cool prizes and live tunes ($5 entry), while back in Byron, Circus Arts Byron Bay will be hosting another Night Market Under the Big Top from 4pm, with loads of artists and musicians lined up to entertain you as you browse boutique stalls. You can also grab a plate of hot food and a glass of mulled wine and watch a silent movie projected onto a big screen, or shake it off on the dance floor to some magical beats. If you’re in the mood for some BBQ action on Sunday, Treehouse on Belongil is the place to be from noon, when they’ll be dishing up the goods Argentine-style, along with live tunes by Sophie Ozard, Luke Morris, and a curious special guest. Bring on the asado!

This incentive pushes a struggling Jane into the decision to carry someone else’s baby. But will Golden Oaks be the dazzling retreat it’s cracked up to be? Or will the burden of motherhood and responsibility become too much?

This week's mantra
MAKE YOUR FEED FEEL GOOD.
Last week we talked about becoming more conscious of who and what you are worshipping at the altar of social media.
Tricky Trivia Answers - Questions on page 3 1. A, ADELAIDE. 2. C, PLAYED PIANO.
3. TRUE. 5. C, FRUIT SMACK. 4. A, REPEAT SECRETS.
It is so important to consider your inputs - and for most of us, social media occupies a lot of our mental space throughout the day. So consider what you’re feeding yourself. Is your social feed making you feel like sh*t? To add something to your practical toolkit, I’m offering you this little checklist that I use to make sure my feed is 100% Feel Good. This checklist will help you be more discerning so you can consciously choose to support the account and people who are helping you feel better, not worse. THE FEEL-GOOD FEED CHECKLIST 3 Criteria For A Social Media Feed That Won’t Make You Feel Like Shit UPLIFTING Does this person/account inspire and uplift me (note: inspiration is not the same as inspo!)? Do I feel more positive and lighter? ILLUMINATING Does this person/account educate me, upgrade my knowledge or expand my awareness? Do I feel expanded and empowered? CONNECTION Does this person/account make me feel more (or less) connected? Do I feel a sense of resonance and community? Instagram is ripe with opportunities for real connection, friendship, good vibes and true inspiration. It’s up to you to decide whether that is your experience or not.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
A VERY LEONINE WEEK! SUN AND LADY
Venus are in tight union all week, with Mars, the male warrior archetype, close by. If this is your birthday week, relationship, leadership and self-expression will be the predominant themes for the next year. The overall energy is upbeat, expansive and optimistic with Sun and Venus in fire-trine to Jupiter in Sagittarius. Jupiter turns direct on Monday and will gain momentum fast, but Uranus, one of the outer planets who is famous for sudden changes, turns retrograde and might throw you a few curved balls. Big plans might be forged; not all of them may be realistic! Mercury the planet for travelling and communication is still retracing his steps from his recent retrograde sojourn. Until Monday he resides in Cancer and is rather cautious, but once he enters Leo he joins the fun-loving team. From there on until the 17th of August we are blessed with all personal planets (besides the Moon) in the highly creative and energetic sign of Leo. On Wednesday Sun and Venus are finally exactly conjunct, a great opportunity to cherish life, your nearest and dearest, and also yourself to the fullest. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

The Prince of Disks symbolises a time when it is important to take care of the little things, so big things can follow. This is not really where the astro flavour of this week is at, but if you persist and wrap up loose ends, soon you feel liberated and ready for the big stuff…
The Prince of Cups contemplates the question: ‘What goodness is there for me?’ He is rather selfcentred, but in a generous and benevolent way, and in tune with the current astro flavour. He assists you to visualise and realise your longings. He won’t let you rest until you love and create the life you want.
i GEMINI
The Strength Tarot card indicates a week of great courage, resolve and composure. No matter what your goal is, when you put your whole heart and energy into it, success is a given. You may thrive on this strong Leo energy and might surprise yourself with how much you achieve and how much fun it can be.
j CANCER
With the 9 of Swords drawn you may feel like hiding in your crab-shell and licking your wounds. Fear, regret, doubt or worry might make you feel quite uneasy. Don’t be hard on yourself, and if you realise that you are in a negative mental state, apply a good dose of gratitude for the things that are working out in your life, as an antidote.
The Princess of Swords is highly spirited, reactive and a bit childlike in her self-centred ways. With her by your side you are even more determined to get what you want and you might be ready to fight for it. Stay truthful and act ethically, make sure you don’t get over-bearing, then follow your heart…
c SAGITTARIUS
This week you may make a big step forward into your new life. The Ace of Swords supports you in gaining a clear understanding of your situation. Maybe you want to move house, solidify travel plans or implement an original idea. Your intuitive decision-making abilities are excellent right now.
The 2 of Wands describes an inner struggle about whether to take a risk and wield your power or not. Either way, what you may fret about, is the fact that you know how harsh your self-judgement can be when you get it ‘wrong’. This is a week to call the shots, but perfect timing is essential. Don’t rush into things, but also don’t hesitate too long…
d CAPRICORN
a LIBRA
The Queen of Cups suggests taking time out in nature to nurture your soul. Under her guidance you may experience exquisite moments of oneness and peace. These feelings connect you with your heart and deepen your understanding of your purpose and right place in life.
The 4 of Cups nudges you to re-evaluate a situation or relationship. As a true Libran it might not be an easy task for you to know exactly what you want. Naturally you pay a lot of attention to how everyone around you feels and how to keep them happy. What would happen, if you try on a new decision and walk around with it, in the same way as you try on new clothes?
b SCORPIO
The 8 of Swords indicates an intense week. You may experience a lot of doubt, inner turmoil and confusion. You might fare best if you postpone important decisions and wait for more information and input from others. Don’t over-analyse your situation, rather try to drop into the depth of your feelings.
The 9 of Cups is often called the ‘wish card’. A deep heartfelt wish – a wish that you may not even want to admit to yourself – that’s the kind of wish you could ask for right now. Then watch how little miracles light up your path.
e AQUARIUS
f PISCES
The Princess of Wands represents a fiery, optimistic and free spirit. With her by your side you easily overcome any old limitations, and are ready to embark on a new and exciting chapter of your life. Spontaneous, elated feelings may produce great feasts of creativity.

I can see why. Not only does The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation state that flax linen uses 13 times less pesticides than potatoes, it was also the first frock ever made. Pre-farshion dating as far back as 4500BC, mummies were found wrapped in shrouds made from linen. A humanity preserver if I ever saw one, and exactly what I think when I see a linen pack of Byron mamas - what a mob of zombies! The fabric worked so well for this likely because it is resistant to fungus and bacteria. It's also insect repellant, moisture repellant, and repels any other style of non - 'Instagram Influencer' mothering.

DEAR KEENWA,
OVERCOME YOUR FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING Do you want to sharpen
When I arrived here a month ago, Byron was so different. Man, it's really changing. Us locals know not to hashtag certain breaks, beaches and waterfalls. But what of the fools who don't? Should we start some sort of handbook so we can kick the Queenslanders back to where they came from if they don't comply? - Here First
DEAR HERE FIRST, What about some sort of passport checklist? Ten ticks, and they can stay. We could hand them out at the rainbow welcome sign after they've hit their first pothole (tick). After lunch we'll see whose glutenfree, dairy-free and vegan for three ticks. Those that use the actual Woolies carpark to park and run in for the purchase of edible items as opposed to hanging, sleeping and jamming get a tick. As will those that sightsee quietly, and non-digitally (that includes blogs, sponsored posts and live videos – handwritten postcards are okay).

This week's recommendation ALBUM TITLE: Salt ARTIST: Angie McMahon RELEASED: July 2019 GENRE: Rock / Alternative
BIO: Hailing from Melbourne, twenty-something Angie has been winning awards for singing and songwriting on her journey to releasing her 1st album Salt.
WHAT TO EXPECT: A raw sound with little added
production, you feel like you could be in the recording studio with Angie. Beautiful guitar tones, the simple audio beauty of raw instruments and an instant rapport with Angie's lyrics.
WHAT WE LIKE: A delicate naked start in the opening
tracks leaves you hoping there is more to come, the following well-composed waves of sound don't disappoint. The feel is real, with the record marching to the beat of its own drums, tracks slow down, speed up and make use of full the dynamic range from quiet to loud. Her voice is so powerful but Angie won't overpower you as she captures the sense of time passing and how we grasp to control life's events. When the raw ingredients, on Salt, are so good you really don't need any sauce and seasoning. I like it when it is on repeat.
STANDOUT TRACKS: - Keeping Time - Pasta - Slow Mover
PERFECT FOR: Any room of your house whilst headnodding, toe-tapping, singing, listening, making breakfast, eating lunch or ordering Uber Eats.
YOU MIGHT LIKE IT IF YOU LIKE: Florence and the Machine, Tash Sultana, Bruce Springsteen, Carole King.

Elly Waite
@ELLY_WAITE TELL THE READERS A SECRET ABOUT YOU: I lived in Canada for 4 years doing ski seasons. COMPLETE THIS SENTENCE - "I LOVE …….. food" YOU ARE CURRENTLY STUDYING GRAPHIC DESIGN AT SAE - WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE COURSE? Collaborating with other students on projects and having that feedback and support from other students and teachers. WHEN YOU'RE NOT STUDYING, WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO DO? I love taking photos so I like to go driving to nice areas around the northern rivers and take landscape photography. YOU ARE OFF TO A FANCY DRESS PARTY, WHO WOULD GO AS AND WHY? I would go as a Disney princess... I would relive some of my childhood for a night.
VOLUNTEERS
YOU HAVE WRITTEN AND ILLUSTRATED A CHILDREN’S BOOK. IF YOU WERE ONE OF THE CHARACTERS, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU BE AND WHY? I would be Shelly the turtle. She is girly but is one of the guys. She surfs with the male characters and I just love the way I designed her with the frangipani.
Go to WWW.BBFF.COM.AU/VOLUNTEER
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT WRITING FOR CHILDREN? I love the reactions that children have when they have read my book. They get so excited about the characters and I love that children are enjoying the book.
PH 0413 627 846
Looking for some fun and to meet like-minded, creative people? Passionate about film? Byron Bay Film Festival is building its 2019 Volunteers team.
CAN YOU DELIVER?
We need a happy person to help deliver Byron Bazaar for 6 hours every Thursday. We are looking for: •friendly and smiley vibes • a local living in Byron Shire who knows their way around • someone with a reliable car who likes being outside • and is fit and healthy Please email your resume to HELLO@BYRONBAZAAR.COM Please only apply if you are an Australian resident or citizen and live within Byron Shire.
WHAT FUNNY OR INSPIRATIONAL CHARACTERS HAVE YOU COME ACROSS IN YOUR WRITING - REAL OR FICTITIOUS? Byron the Dolphin would be my most inspirational character so far. He wants to show others how it’s ok to do things on your own and I think that would relate to a lot of people who may be afraid of doing activities etc alone. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE OF IN BYRON? More establishments with a Byron feel and a beach holiday vibe. That’s the reason so many people visit this beautiful area. For more of Elly and details about her book “Byron the Dolphin" go to mizudesign.com.au
