Moving into next week, The Cellar Bottleshops has Monday night sorted with a whisky masterclass at the Bangalow RSL Hall from 6:30-8:30pm. Premium Spirits Ambassador Dan Woolley will be guiding tastings of a selection of premium whiskys, with plenty of nibbles to soak up the grog. Tickets are $89, which includes a bottle of Bowmore No.1 or Auchentoshan American Oak to take home. To book, call Liette Snow on 02 6687 1262. Finally, if you haven’t yet checked out Pause, Grafton photographer and self-confessed ‘swamp guy’ Stu Murphy’s exhibition at Lone Goat Gallery, you’ve got until 3 September to get onto it. In light of what our local wetlands have gone through lately, the artist’s beautiful aerial photographs of NSW north coast wetlands are particularly poignant.

TITLE: Fake: A startling true story of love in a world

man online she begins to fall for his many wonderful qualities. He’s kind, charismatic, intelligent and successful. Or so it seems. As the two begin their whirlwind romance, caught up in the throes of new love, things began to become muddy. Stories don’t add up, facts about the man before her aren’t what they once appeared to be. Stephanie has been tricked and the man is not who he says he is, a con artist.
WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: Fake is a powerful reflection
on modern love and the tools that predators now possess to entice us into difficult situations. What Stephanie is confronted with is not only the lies she has been told but those she has been so willing to believe. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with messages of ‘betterment’ this book is a fascinating comment on the stories we tell ourselves and the false realities we project unto others.
WHO IT'S FOR: This book reads like an episode of Catfish. If you love the show then this book is for you.
NOTABLE QUOTE: "I’d hate to be misunderstood: I’m
looking for a man but without the least romantic intent. It’s long over. These days, more than a year since we parted, I think of him as a specimen. Today I’m on a field trip to study his habitat. But I’m jittery. I do not want an encounter with this creature. Once in his smiling eyes I saw good and gentle things. Now I know that the smile was a simulation, the eyes black holes. I know to keep my distance."

This week's mantra REFINE YOUR MIND.
How does it feel to you to live your life that way? Does it generate ideas? Open you up to opportunities? Create connection? Or does is shut all that sh*t down?
Tricky Trivia Answers - Questions on page 3 8. A, 26 MINS. 9. A, JEFF BEZOS, $153.72 BILLION. 10. B, GARBAGE MAN.
In our modern lives, fear, criticism, anxiety and judgement are the lingering flavours of survival that create an illusion of safety. Negative perspectives are essentially damage control.
1. B, $2500. 5. C, HENNESSEY 2. A, COLLEGE GIRLS. 484.4KM/H. 3. TRUE. 6. TRUE 4. A, REPEAT SECRETS. 7. A, TEA MAKERS.
As humans, we’re wired to look for what’s wrong. It’s a survival strategy which has served us quite well in our past. But what about now? Is habitually looking for what’s wrong serving you well?
The good news is, you are not your mind. And you are 100% able to retrain your attention and refine your mind. All that is necessary is to broaden your perspective to include the positive. It’s an exercise in consciously including the things we habitually look through. The invisible good that, once you open your eyes to see it, is all around you all the time. Goodness is flooding into your life at every moment. Your critical mind has just made you blind to it. So, how to retrain the mind and reclaim the goodness, the joy, the delight in your life? Over the coming weeks, I’ll be offering three different daily rituals. Tune in next week for the first instalment. In the meantime, try this: Every time you catch yourself noticing what’s wrong, criticising, judging (yourself or others!), see if you can replace that thought with something that’s oh-so-right.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
THURSDAY’S FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS IS
upbeat, magnanimous and eccentric. Sun and Venus are still united in Leo, with Mars nearby. A great time for a social get-together or for spoiling your partner and making them feel special. Grandiose ideas might be hatched and it may be worthwhile following up on some of these playful or ingenious brainwaves. Friday offers a chance for uplifting your or your loved one’s spirit with childlike fun, a surprising outing or a creative project that brings more connection. Venus forms a fiery trine to Chiron in Aries, the archetype of the wounded, but brave healer. Sunday afternoon is the time to get practical, analytical and organised, when Mars moves into Virgo, where he resides until the end of September. On Wednesday Venus moves into Virgo as well. She takes until mid-September to traverse the Virgin’s space. During this time the way we feel in our close, intimate relationships comes increasingly into focus. Try to avoid the main glitches of Virgo: being too devoted and dutiful in the first place, then resenting the other and therefore starting to be hyper-critical and nit-picking. Let ‘no one is perfect including me’ be your mantra! For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

The Judgement Tarot card nudges you towards selfreflection and self-evaluation, especially in precarious situations concerning your family or profession. Be open enough to produce an honest appraisal of where you are at. You may open up to new possibilities, which get you closer to your true vocation.
The 3 of Wands equips you with great foresight and leadership abilities, therefore you can provide direction while making people feel safe and welcome. It is also a time for inspiration and focussing on the bigger picture. This may catapult you out of your comfort-zone, but it is really worthwhile…
i GEMINI
The 2 of Cups symbolises love in action. Every moment of your life you have the choice to focus on awareness and ask yourself: what would love do? Alternatively you could just follow your old habits of critical judgement. This week may bring some insights into how to celebrate life and love more than ever…
j CANCER
The Balance Tarot card comes as a reminder to stay honest and act ethically during this grandiose, leonine week. It’s not that you are out to take advantage of people, it’s just that you may feel your needs so acutely that it is easy to overlook other’s. Make sure to weigh all sides before determining right action.
With the 9 of Swords drawn you may feel like a wet blanket is descending on you. Negative thoughts produce a tense, stressed body and a bleak outlook into the future. As soon as you feel yourself getting dragged down, apply a generous dose of gratitude for the things that are working out right now. It makes you feel better instantly!
a LIBRA
The Chariot Tarot card heralds a new beginning. In particular it affects the way you make decisions. When you weigh up pros and cons or the impact that your decision may have on others, you become blessed with a new assertiveness that takes your needs as much into consideration as theirs.
b SCORPIO
The Prince of Disks knows about the importance of wrapping up loose ends before embarking on the next big journey. His attention to details and his meticulous ways assist you to take care of all the little things, while preparing for the big stuff. Stick to the tried and true for now.
The 5 of Swords indicates a reluctance or inability to let go of old hurts. The past, including all the good and bad memories you hold, is very much alive as soon as you get triggered. This week it may be increasingly important to realise when old pain constricts your way of dealing with the present. From there on you have more freedom to choose your response.
c SAGITTARIUS
In the light of the Moon Tarot card, reality appears to be different from normal. Shadows appear out of nowhere and it is easy to get confused or lose your way because you may misread the signposts. This is not a good week to make decisions, but it might work extremely well for immersing yourself into a creative project.
d CAPRICORN
The 5 of Wands often represents setbacks, challenges and hassles. Take courage and don’t be disheartened; this will pass soon. Just right now it does not pay off to push extra hard against obstacles. If you feel frustrated or irritated, take a day off, allow yourself to recharge your batteries and gain a new perspective.
e AQUARIUS
With the 10 of Cups you feel on top of the world! You radiate well-being, joy and serenity, and truly infuse the world around you with it. This is a great time to hang out with friends and family. Don’t underestimate the sheer pleasure you give them just by your presence and empathy.
f PISCES
The Ace of Disks symbolises the gift of feeling secure and grounded in your worldly affairs. This week may offer you a great opportunity to advance yourself or finish a project in which you have been investing a lot of energy. It is your time to prosper in a practical and realistic way. Enjoy your success!

DEAR KEENWA, My following has greatly increased lately (inorganically). How do I know if I have influencer influenza? - Achoo
DEAR ACHOO, Now until we come up with a vaccination as Lord Byron himself knows it sure is a bit contagious in these parts, here's some help recognising the symptoms: you claim you're not an influencer. You share every detail of your life with people you do not know, because you think they actually care. People send you shit for free. You act like you like it, and now you kinda do, and you think others care if you do. You could be spreading world peace, fixing homelessness, or getting a buck off every follower to donate to an underfunded, much-needed domestic violence support organisation, but instead you talk about cardigans. You've never been hungry, homeless, or broke in your life, and therefore don't understand why 'haters' get cranky that you don't use your influence to help people who are.

DEAR KEENWA, Drinking urine. Should I? What's it in for me? I mean, really, what's in it? Should I ferment it, or did my urethra already do that for me? - Golden Delicious Shower
DEAR GOLDEN DELICIOUS SHOWER, There's no scientific evidence to support claims that drinking urine is beneficial, said no one in Byron ever. Made up of up to 96 percent water, that leaves four percent of urethra bacteria, salts, and ammonia to feast on. Waste not want not right? But is it hydrating you ask, like if you were stranded on a Northern NSW rivers island, and all the kombucha has dried up (wtf, seriously?) should you drink it? The answer is, not if you don't have your keep cup with you (obvs), but if you are looking for an organic, homemade cure for influencer influenza than, Feck yes put it on tap, and promote, promote, promote.

ALBUM TITLE: The Big Day ARTIST: Chance the Rapper RELEASED: July 2019 GENRE: Hip Hop
BIO: Chancelor Jonathan Bennett AKA Chance the
Rapper moves in many circles, spending his days as an actor, activist, rapper/singer and songwriter. The Big Day is CTR's 1st studio album following 3 mixtape albums, Grammy awards and his recent marriage this year, thus the album title and lyrical inspo.
WHAT TO EXPECT: 1st track is a kickoff head bouncer
with John Legend that blends soulful grooves with chunky beats, the soul train continues to the next track with Death Cab with Cutie providing a groovy melancholy rhythm. Yeah, expect colabs with other artists on the majority of tracks. 77 minutes of 20 plus tracks demands your listening commitment.

Judy Parkin @INTERIORBLANK
TELL THE READERS A SECRET ABOUT YOU: I love making and building things myself at home. YOU ARE AN EXPERIENCED KITCHEN AND BATHROOM DESIGNER WHAT IS THE FAVOURITE PART OF YOUR ROLE? Unravelling my clients’ ideas so we can uncover their perfect design. It’s so enjoyable to uncover who they are and what they want. The more unique they are, the more I enjoy it. WHAT DO YOU THINK BYRON NEEDS MORE OF? Better transport to the surrounding areas, so tourists can visit all the beautiful little tucked away towns more easily. WHEN YOU'RE NOT WORKING, WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO DO? I love spending time at home on our property and balance my time in the mountains and our local beaches. COMPLETE THIS SENTENCE - "I LOVE …….. getting my hands dirty and walking barefoot" YOU WORKED IN LONDON FOR SOME TIME - TELL US ABOUT “KITCHEN LANE” It was tucked away behind Selfridges and boasted some of the world’s best kitchen brand name design studios. New designs popped up in the showroom windows that were being changed constantly, just like the nearby department store windows, even with the seasons. It was so inspiring to be a part of. YOU HAVE RECENTLY BEEN NAMED AS A NATIONAL FINALIST IN THE KITCHEN & BATHROOM DESIGN INSTITUTE (KBDI) AWARDS. WHO OR WHAT HAS BEEN THE GREATEST INSPIRATION IN YOUR DESIGN WORK? Definitely having the opportunity to work, live and travel in Europe and in the Middle East - seeing how each country’s styles are different. THEY SAY HOME BUILDERS CAN OFTEN BE THEIR OWN WORST CLIENT - DOES THAT APPLY TO INTERIOR DESIGNERS AS WELL? Haha! Probably. I don’t like my home to look like a showpiece. I like so many different styles that I would have to say it’s a big mish-mash, but it is all very practical.
