enough to have a nice ¼ acre plot, how about tending an indoor plant or two. This will satisfy your green thumb ambitions, with the advantage of improving the air quality of your indoor prison. For guaranteed results, start with low maintenance Tillandsia, or Air fern. This can be a bit boring, but it captures all the water and nutrients it needs through tiny scales on its leaf surface, so it requires minimal care. Aloe Vera is also

Mudpuppy. Check inventory and delivery times carefully, as the PM’s description of jigsaw puzzles as an “essential” item has created another “toilet paper” fiasco. How about a bit of simple home cooking? Walnuts are a wonder food - full of poly- and mono- unsaturated fats and high in omega-3’s and fibre. Not everyone likes the sweet nutty flavour of a freshly extracted “nut”, but there are lots of ways to sex them up. Here’s a simple recipe from Reader’s Digest that is safe enough to try with the kids at home. Spiced Walnuts – In one bowl place 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 teaspoons coarse salt, ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger, 1 large pinch each of grated nutmeg and ground cloves. In a separate bowl whisk one large egg white; when fluffy, whisk in all above ingredients together with ½ teaspoon of vanilla essence, until a smooth batter forms. Fold the batter with 4 cups of shelled walnut halves (about 500 grams). Spread the coated walnuts in a tray lined with baking paper and bake at 150ºC until nuts are lightly toasted – around 25 minutes. Let cool, stirring occasionally, eat!

pretty easy to grow and useful. Any plant that comes with a warning “allow soil to go completely dry before watering” is my sort of plant. Like any succulent, Aloe appreciates sandy, well-drained soil and a sunny spot in your home. And their gel is great for treating minor burns and rashes. For more of a challenge, try the Zebra Plant. Another succulent that appreciates minimal watering and maximum sunlight, these are perfect for a well-lit windowsill. The glossy green leaves and bright silvery veins are attractive. Add in a beautiful golden flower that is usually in full bloom at Bunnings, and Zebras become an impulse buy. About 2 weeks after you get them home, that flower will die, and you will spend 12 months trying to keep the Zebra alive and coax it to bloom again – hence the challenge. Like a good book, a jigsaw puzzle is a nice, tactile alternative to many of the hi-tech pastimes that fill homes now. There are puzzles that cover every conceivable subject, from 2 pieces all the way up to 40,320 pieces, and from $5 to $5,000. Most can be ordered on-line, where you will find a new world of brand names to familiarise yourself with Ravensburger, Jumbo, Eurographics, Blue Opal, Djeco and

FOR A WHILE NOW WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR WAYS TO give you – our readers – another way to contribute to the Byron Bazaar, other than just the “Tagged in Town” photo ops, classifieds and community notices. We used to have a letters section called “Twenty Cents”, but it became a place for people to whinge and moan. We want to encourage something a bit more positive and a bit more creative, so with a nod to our current predicament we're establishing a new section – Byron Bazaar’s Corona Chronicles Creative Communications. That’s a mouthful, but luckily sets up a simple acronym – “BB’s Four C’s”. Anyone who has a story to share, or a poem, maybe a cartoon or just a point of view – send it in to hello@byronbazaar.com , #byronbazaar , or #bazaarsid . We'll pick the best entries each week for reproduction. No fee, no prizes, no money, no copyright infringement – just an opportunity to put your name up in BB lights for one week! To provide some guidance before we launch the Four C's, we show 3 examples below. One piece you will definitely recognise - it’s been played to death recently; one you should recognise, 'cos it’s an all-time classic; and one you might recognise as a joke. a) Woke up this morning I suddenly realised We're all in this together I started smiling 'Cause you were smiling And we're all in this together I'm made of atoms You're made of atoms And we're all in this together And long division Just doesn't matter 'Cause we're all in this together b) And when the broken hearted people Living in the world agree, There will be an answer, let it be. For though they may be parted, there is Still a chance that they will see There will be an answer, let it be Let it be, let it be. Let it be, let it be. There will be an answer, let it be.

c) Genie – What is your first wish? John – I want to be rich Genie – Granted Rich. What’s your second wish? Rich – No, no, I don’t want to be called Rich. Genie – Granted, what do you want to be called? Rich – John, my name is John, and I want to have lots of money. Genie – Granted Rich, you are now John. Sorry John, that’s it - money would be four. Keep isolating, keep smiling, and keep on chillin’. Oh, and the answers: a) Ben Lee; b) Lennon-McCartney; c) Anonymous. Tony Byron Bazaar

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST

THE

POWERFUL

JUPITER/PLUTO

conjunction will continue to dominate the scene for a long time and we have to make the best out of all the new rules and regulations that infringe on our outer freedom, but not necessarily on our inner attitude. Jupiter and Pluto will be conjunct again on June 30th and November 13th, but they basically never leave each other’s orbit until late November. The changes we make and the insights we gain must be revised in June and may only come to a conclusion in late November. Right now, if you are less busy than normal, what a perfect time to travel inwards, meditate, be creative and amp up compassion. Maybe you can find a way to support those you know who are extremely busy, exhausted or overwhelmed. From Thursday to Saturday Mars and Venus, the two archetypes for relationships, form a sextile to Chiron, who represents the transformative journey from wounding to healing. Even if you can’t reach your loved ones physically, connect, share and heal while Mercury is still in compassionate Pisces. On Saturday afternoon he moves into fiery Aries and many conversations may get forceful and sharp. Mercury rushes through Aries in only two weeks. It might be difficult to accept other people’s point of view, and the urge to tell others what to do is just overwhelming when Sun and Mercury are both in Aries (until April 19th). Also during the weekend the Sun starts building a square to the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction. This is a really challenging aspect (exact on Tuesday and Wednesday); inner and outer tensions may erupt on all fronts. Invest your time and energy in a constructive project or a workout which allows you to let off steam. On Wednesday Mercury unites with Chiron in the warrior zone of Aries. Together they may come up with new, ground-breaking ways of healing. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

l VIRGO

The 5 of Wands represents a high level of stress, challenges and setbacks. Try to be as patient with yourself and others, in particular from the weekend onwards. Avoid right/wrong arguments; they only inflame situations. A physical workout might be most constructive.

The Justice Tarot card symbolises perfect alignment and internal equilibrium. How to achieve this in a chaotic world? By travelling inward, spending much time in meditation and contemplation which provides you with inner clarity. If ever you wanted to write, now is the time!

i GEMINI

With the 8 of Cups drawn you may feel quite exhausted and drained. Your restless mind might be in constant overdrive and it’s important to quieten it down. Long walks, handicrafts and music may uplift your spirit.

j CANCER

The Knight of Wands usually attacks any problem headon. He is highly invested in making the current situation more enjoyable and exciting. With him by your side you find inspiration through little acts of service and care for those near you. Maybe you can surprise them with a brandnew dish or cake?

With the 6 of Cups drawn you are a beacon of light that radiates outward and touches everyone you meet. Regeneration, kindness and goodwill are keywords for this card and when you focus on these, giving and receiving start to blend into one, and the pleasure is on both sides.

The 5 of Cups symbolises a great deal of worry that may keep you awake at night and tired during the day. Try to stay in the moment to make the right choices, and avoid getting bogged down in terrifying what-if scenarios about the future. You might be able to soothe your soul with gardening and admiring nature’s beauty and perfection.

a LIBRA

When the Moon Tarot card appears it is not easy to see the path in front of you. Determining right action may get extremely confusing the more you think about it. You may have to find your own answers deep inside through stillness and contemplation, never mind what opinions and recommendations others give to you.

b SCORPIO

With the 7 of Cups drawn you may feel overwhelmed most of the time, but find it difficult to articulate what is going on deep inside. Your coping mechanism may be indulgence of any type that lets you forget how you feel. Whether you bury yourself in work, bunker down with your favourite stimulant or dream yourself away in sentimental memories, this is your way to do crisis!

c SAGITTARIUS

The Princess of Wands symbolises the quintessential free spirit. She can get very reactive! If her freedom is impinged upon by too many rules she feels the need to rebel. With her by your side you could get entrenched in many arguments this week. Maybe you would feel more peaceful if you go for a long hike in nature?

d CAPRICORN

The Prince of Swords challenges your belief systems and demands flexibility. Since the rules of our society change constantly right now, you might have to flex your adaptability muscles a lot. The more you do it, the less it hurts and you get really good at responding to any problem in a new, intuitive way.

e AQUARIUS

The Fool Tarot card heralds a new beginning. With Mars and Saturn in your sign you may be one of the groundbreakers, someone who sees an opportunity where others see dread. Your curiosity, sense of wonder and awe may unlock new creative potential and just by example you may inspire others to move beyond fear.

f PISCES

The Star Tarot card comes as a reminder to look after yourself in the best way possible. Smelling the roses is your therapy, even though you are aware of the suffering of so many people that you can’t alleviate. As you uplift yourself you feel stronger and more able to care for those near you.

DEAR KEENWA,

Did you know it takes at least twenty three minutes for water droplets to dry on bare skin in the sun? That's about twelve and a half more minutes than what it takes for stovetop coffee to brew. I have cleaned out the sock draw, and the entire Netflix collection. Speaking of, me and the Mrs no longer curl up and chill, if you know what I mean? In fact, I have collected more than ten things I can't stand about her. Please send more ideas to pass the social isolation time, as this list is growing by the minute. - #willwesurvive

DEAR #WILLWESURVIVE,

Here's an idea. Find a vacant room, shut the door, and look in the damn mirror. Take out a pen, and begin a new list of all the shit you can't stand about yourself. Hint, it will be the things that are driving you nuts about her. Welcome to your shadow, my friend. This is the perfect time to make buddys with him. It might even save your relationship. You're welcome.

DEAR KEENWA,

I’m over my lover. Problem is, he is a migrant on a temporary visa. What began as my steamy summer romance has turned into a live-in nightmare. All the things I found adorable like his accent, European sleep habits, and smoking; will be what actually kills me in the end. Do you think Scott Morrison could help a sister out? - Trouble In Paradise

DEAR TROUBLE IN PARADISE,

I think that's what old mate Morrison thinks he's doing by refusing support, so migrant folk hopefully, eventually...go back to where they came from, even though there are no flights, no money for flights (or food, shelter, and cigarettes), and no desire to leave behind sick parents they may be caring for, or unborn rainbow children of their own flesh and blood. But I'm sure he reads the Bazaar religiously, so here's a shoutout to the man himself. WAKE UP SCOTTY.

This week's review

TITLE: Simplicity AUTHOR: Dr. Edward de Bono. NUMBER OF PAGES: 304 READING TIME: 6 hours 15 minutes PRICE: $24.95 WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Dr. de Bono is best known for his

many books and lectures on lateral thinking. If you have worked in a large corporate, you will probably know all about the “Six Hats”. Simplicity shows us how to bring a little “simp” into our complex lives. Try “shedding” – eliminating steps in a process that may have once served a purpose, but now cannot be justified; or “reframing”, to think again about seeking solutions to non-problems; or “working backwards” – having arrived at the finish point, looking back to see if there may have been a shorter route.

WHO IT'S FOR: Has anyone ever said, “Please, can you

make that a little more complicated for me”. NO! Well this book is all about making life easier - not by dumbing it down, but by smartening it up. If you have a desire to simp anything in your life, Simplicity will guide you through the smart, innovative and creative thinking and designing steps required.

WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: As you would expect, de

Bono has designed the book to be an easy read. It does follow the traditional chapter layout, but within that there are clear summaries and smart shortcuts. You could actually extract the teachings in a 30 minute scroll, rather than the 6 hours cover to cover approach. As page 1 suggests, turn to page 279 to read the ten rules of simplicity so you can confirm what the book is about, or wait until you reach them, and they will be a summary of what you’ve read. Your choice!

NOTABLE QUOTES: “If something needs doing, then do something about it. Don’t just hope that someone else will. What is everyone’s business also has to be someone’s business.”

of “in-house” live broadcasts – Review’s Isolation Room - to help us all get through social distancing and home detention. These home-made broadcasts are all available on YouTube to look at, as well as listen to.

WHAT TO EXPECT: At the time of writing there were

eight performances in the series. There is something special about getting up close and personal with a muso. It may be the extra risk they are taking, without friends on stage or technical production support, but it gives a much greater appreciation (when it works!) of their raw talent.

WHAT WE LIKE: Brian Cadd, looking more and more

like an aging cowboy, covering Long Black Veil. Nicole Car, still operatic in her Paris loungeroom, singing La Vie en Rose. Kate Ceberano positively purring through a short rendition of Beautiful Life. Tim Rogers strumming out a newbie, The Third Level. Deborah Conway showing there’s nothing quite like the harmonies of a family jam session, performing Hold On. Missy Higgins giving a lovely and very personal take on Let it Be. And John Williamson, out amongst the birds and making us all crave some space and country air, doing Cootamundra Wattle.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES: Missy Higgins, Kate Ceberano, Deborah Conway.

PERFECT FOR: To use an old cliché, there is something
