G TO SAY?
LOVE PEACE AND MUNG BEANZ, BEK FLETCHER Byron Bay is just like any other seaside town with good surf and amazing beaches..It’s popular with people all over the world who love to come here in droves all year round. Growing up here was the best! I love calling this place home. What's interesting is ..it seems just about everyone complains about everything when we truly live in Heaven on Earth. Byron is stunning!! Complaining gets us no-where..wanting what was here 10 years ago is ridiculous as that is in the past. We don't want to live in the past we want to create a sustainable future for everyone. So Byron how are we going to to that without complaining all the time? We need to embrace these humans of the world & create a space for them in our community. The state of the world today is in Crisis across the globe so complaining about these Byron issues do nothing to help provide a safe environment for all the citizens of the world not just the rate payers of Byron society. Love Peace and Mung Beanz Byron bay, lets bring that vibe back and embrace the change by creating a space for them as they won't stop coming here as its beautiful.
Congrats Bek

DEAR KEENWA,

Worried? I'll tell you what's worrying. A dude writing in to the local rag for dating advice. Speaking of rags, lemme guess, you also track your lover's moon cycle so you know when to both approach her with caution, and pick up extra vegan chocolate on the way home? I bet you take out the rubbish, leave the toilet seat down, send her mixed tapes, and read both of your weekly horoscopes. And you didn't see this coming?

DEAR KEENWA,
I met a guy out of the blue recently and we get on really well. So well that it's a bit boring. He is easy-going, kind and respectful. I'm used to high drama and passion! Is there that special something missing or could he be my soul mate in disguise? Drama Queen
DEAR DRAMA QUEEN,
We don't realise how much energy this Romeo and Juliet caper taxes us. I had a dude like this once. We gave each other space, didn't sweat the small stuff, argued only when discussing world peace which always ended with a respect agree to disagree handshake. We let our fire out where it counts if you know what I mean, and because I wasn't using so much of my headspace on our love soapy, I had so much spare time. I managed to learn Dutch, become a professional beekeeper, and write a book on vegan taxidermy.

HEAVILY Meditated With Caitlin Cady
This week's mantra PAY ATTENTION. YOUR PRESENCE IS THE CURRENCY OF CONNECTION. As Simone Weil so beautifully put it, “attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity.” Learning to be present with your whole self (and not off on an intergalactic adventure in your mind, creeping on Instagram, or pretending that you’re listening but actually rehearsing in your head what you’re going to say next) is the greatest gift you can give to those you love. Your loved ones, friends and co-workers will feel heard and seen. Which translates into more intimacy and trust with those that matter most. Here’s a cheatsheet for presence in three simple steps: 1. Single task. Lay down the doing and just be in this moment. 2. Listen well. Without attending to your wants or fears (see also: proving, controlling). 3. Come back. If you leave, notice, take a breath and return (over and over again). This applies to how you relate to others, and how you relate to your sweet self, too. Our ability to connect and be intimate with others is in direct proportion with our ability to connect and find intimacy with ourselves - Hint: this is something we can practice daily through meditation. Just sayin'! Happy connecting…

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
THIS WEEK’S MAIN ASPECT IS A MARS/
Uranus fire trine, exact on Saturday. Think outside the box, be prepared for surprises and unexpected changes. Creative projects that might have been gathering dust for some time might suddenly gain momentum. This is the time to gather confidence and express your ingenious ideas, however outrageous they may feel. With Mars, Venus and the North Node in Leo the mood is playful, wild and free; allow yourself to explore the world in your unique way. Retrograde Mercury has just slipped back into Leo as well and is approaching Mars (exact on Sunday), which fires up passion and decisive action. How much of it can stand the test of time will be revealed in about three weeks time. On Tuesday Mars moves into well-organised and analytical Virgo and may assist bringing order and structure into any chaos that this week has caused. On Wednesday, during the Full Moon in Pisces, la Luna unites with Neptune while Mercury turns direct again. This is another marvellous time to let your creative and intuitive juices flow, or to reconnect with Mother Earth and simply dream the day away. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES
With the Sun Tarot card drawn you shine your light forth brilliantly and you ignite hope, joy and vitality in everyone you meet. You are able to generate heaps of energy, and the way you inspire others may move mountains and makes this week into a highly productive one.
h TAURUS
The 4 of Swords indicates that an inner or outer conflict occupies your mind. Right now it would work best for you if you step back a bit and find a way to relax, to counterbalance feeling overwhelmed. In time you will see the bigger picture and start focusing on how to integrate polarities and opposing interests.
i GEMINI
BY GISELA
k LEO
c SAGITTARIUS
l VIRGO
d CAPRICORN
The Knight of Cups, the ‘knight in shining armour’, is charming and confident. You may feel inspired and find delight in graciously offering your heart and its innate gifts to the people you adore and love. The fiery astro flavour of this week adds sparks, sparkles and passion to everything you do.
The 2 of Disks indicates expansive, positive change for the better; therefore things work out best if you let them develop at their own pace. If you stay flexible and adjust quickly to new circumstances, this week can bring great success and maybe even a lot of fun.
a LIBRA
The Prince of Swords aims to let go of old, ingrained, habitual ways of being, which are no longer useful and desirable, thereby making room for the new. You might feel inspired by the fresh wind of change and your excited mind may come up with a myriad of new ideas; some of which will manifest in reality soon.
The 9 of Cups is often called the ‘wish card’ and pictures the overflowing abundance of heartfelt connection and benevolent action. Your cup is more than full and you may feel like sharing your love, happiness and pleasure. You are well-received and also enjoy receiving.
j CANCER
While most folks are very ‘out there’ this week, with the Hermit drawn you prefer quiet and introspective times. Maybe you have a lot of soul-searching to do, or you are a bit tired of social involvement that distracts or even exhausts you. Take time out from other people’s problems and demands, and listen to what wells up from within.
With the Hanged Man Tarot card drawn you demonstrate a willingness to adopt a new perspective which might overturn your old set of priorities. At first this may feel unsafe and as if everything is upside-down. Over time however you unlock great insights that assist you in releasing self-imposed limitations, and thereby enhance your creativity.
b SCORPIO
The 6 of Cups pictures joyful times, shared with friends, family and especially children. Your ‘tribe’ becomes very important to you this week; the feeling of belonging and being able to contribute brings you great pleasure and satisfaction. There is also a chance for romance to blossom or love to be rekindled.
The 10 of Wands indicates a heavy-hearted time. The burdens that you are shouldering may be taxing you to the limit but you are also realising how self-imposed control limits your scope. What would happen if you give up all resistance and decide to go with the flow?
e AQUARIUS
The 9 of Wands symbolises resilience; you uphold a certain vision and you are willing to give it all. You find ways and means to tap into reserves you did not know you had, and you manifest your best if you use your intuition and your brilliant mind in equal measure.
f PISCES
Like two weeks ago, the Lovers Tarot card shows up again! Combined with the red, hot passion of the current astro flavour romantic gestures or possibilities may occupy your mind. Your open heart and deep longing show you the way to find oneness and total connection with the beloved (within or without). Enjoy the transformative experience...

A watch for anyone concerned about climate change. In 1986, four Australian Arctic explorers travelled to Hell and back in sea kayaks. This is their story of storms, suffering and survival – and finally triumph. Witness the strength of the human spirit despite conflict, hunger and iceberg collapse during violent winter hurricanes. The film will be introduced by the expedition leader with a Q&A after the screening. Tickets are $25 with all funds going towards Oceanic Research Institute.

Steamed Mussels with Tomato, Chorizo, Garlic, Lemon and Parsley by Blake Seymour - Executive Chef Ballina RSL Club This is my favourite dinner any night of the week and a dish that is going to be on the new menu in the ‘Boardwalk’ this winter. It's so quick and easy and a good excuse to open a bottle of wine because you need to use some in the recipe.
INGREDIENTS • • • • •
1kg black mussels 2 cloves garlic thinly sliced 2 large ripe tomatoes chopped 6 cherry tomatoes cut in half 150ml white wine
METHOD BY @SAMPLEFOODEVENTS
St. Elmo is plating up modern Spanish tapas dishes and share plates, inspired by fresh and flavoursome ingredients. Our innovative menu is designed to be shared with great company. You’ve found your kind of place.
• Clean the mussels by taking all the beards of and scraping away any barnicles.
Sample Food Festival is a premier food event bringing together farmers, producers, chefs and creative individuals from all corners of the region to share a sample of their food and beverages.
• Heat a large pot and add some extra virgin olive oil with the sliced garlic and chorizo when the garlic starts to colour add the chopped tomatoes and cook for about a minute until they start to soften. Add the white wine and mussels and cover with a lid or some foil.
The event takes place on Saturday 2nd September 8am-4pm at the Bangalow Showgrounds.
• Shake the pan a few times and check after 1 minute to see if the mussels have opened.
• 100g Salumi chorizo sausage chopped • 3 tbs chopped flatleaf parsley • 1 lemon juice and zest • 2 slices sourdough toasted • If they have add ½ the chopped parsley and the juice of 1 lemon. • Lift the mussels and sauce into your dish and finish with the rest of the parsley and lemon zest. • Serve with sourdough or crusty bread and the rest of the chilled white wine.

Future Dreamers, @FUTURE_DREAMERS WHAT WAS YOUR MOTIVATION BEHIND STARTING FUTURE DREAMERS? “Be who you needed when you where
young” echo’s through our motivation. Who wouldn’t have wanted to be a part of a KICK ARSE girls club when they were 12-25 years old? Our motivation is to see and support girls who lift each other up, give them a dynamic space to be themselves, try new things and most importantly have fun and connection.
WHAT TYPE OF EVENTS DO YOU RUN? We offer a large
range of events, so there is something on offer for all girls no matter what their tastes. From fun, to sporty, to learning a skill, to trekking in the wild, making a Youtube channel, sister circles, creative expression, to life notes (story sharing from industry professionals), meditation, dance, music mentoring, cooking, spa days, fashion illustration and plenty more in fact future dreamers prides itself on its diverse array of events and collaborations
WHAT DO THE GIRLS GET OUT OF YOUR EVENTS? Every
girl gets something different out of our events, but a few shared qualities would include connection, inspiration, enjoyment, unity, that they are seen and witnessed.
WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB? The infectious laughter! It goes hand in hand with running a girls club.
WHAT AGES ARE THE GIRLS THAT ATTEND? Girls are 12-
25 years of age, although we have many activities that span beyond this bracket… with pressure from younger girls, we started FD junior (for 10-11 year olds).
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BYRON BAY? The ocean,
the open-minded community, and the warmth of the people.
