TO SAY?
SMILE LOVER - SARAH VALENTINE It is amazing what a small gesture towards a stranger can do for your day. I have recently been making the effort to smile at strangers in the street, let more cars into the banked up traffic line on Bangalow Road and I am making more of an effort to have a real conversation with my barista and check-out person. I wish everyone could slow down and be mindful of doing the same. It brings me so much joy seeing the joy I can create with these simple acts. Try it!
RAIN DANCER - KASIA I heard someone over the weekend complaining about the rain. It’s so baffling to me that someone, seemingly a local, is complaining that their day has been interrupted by some much needed tank filling, soil drenching, lovely, lovely rain. Everything has been looking too brown and dull for too long. After weeks of rain dancing in the back yard, My partner and I were able to get out there and dance some more in the beautiful warm pitter patter. Not to mention the delightful sound on the tin roof as we drift off to sleep. Everything is looking so much greener and healthier even though the rain was brief. So, people, please open your eyes to the bigger picture and enjoy watching this green beautiful landscape flourish back to its happy place.
Congrats Kasia

DEAR KEENWA, I take my hat off to the local businesses doing the no disposable coffee cup scheme, but the inside of my car tinkers like the crumbling of the Great Wall of China. Not only do I keep forfeiting my keep cup deposit, but as i'm not into mosaic art, I'm forever putting the smashed pieces into landfill. Got any solutions? War on Waste
DEAR WAR ON WASTE, TEA TREE MULCH FROM THE FARM Tea tree mulch straight from the farm to you. Rough and fine chop minimum 6 metre loads and up $38.50 per metre delivered. Conditions apply. 0424 163 784

We are lucky we live in the land of coconut milk and fair-trade honey when it comes to activism, and this is nothing a good protest rally could not fix. I suggest getting a petition together to send out to all the major car manufacturers. We need bigger coffee cup holders in our vehicles. While we're there, I'm thinking maybe ones that also fit a saucer, and automatically add honey, and stir it too. We will work our way, united, towards a self-rinsing revolution.
DEAR KEENWA, I'm a tourist from up the Pac. Highway, recently returned from a beautiful holiday in The Shire, which the fam can't stop hamming on about. We saw whales, ate organic, and danced at the sunset drum circle like no one was watching. However, within a day of being on the roads I noticed our tyres needed replacement from being hammered on the infamous Byron potholes, is there a local number I can call for compensation? Those things aren't cheap. Post Holiday Blues
DEAR POST HOLIDAY BLUES, Oh yeah sure, here's 50c for you to go make a phone call to someone who really gives a rat's arse. Hot tip, it's certainly not the local council. You might like to thank us instead for providing you with the opportunity to upgrade your shiny wheels, I find planning really helps when it comes to the school holiday budget; sunscreen, rainbow t-shirt, new car.

BIG SCRUB DAY OUT
As the warmer currents start to move into the Bay, we'll see extra activity in the form of schools of fish (aka. bait balls). Which attract larger fish of course... So just be aware when you head down to check your local. @PositiveChangeforMarineLife are holding their next Beach Clean-Ups on Sat 14th at 7 MIle Beach and Sat 21st at Main Beach from 9am. Hearing strange noises outside your window at night? Don't worry, it's just the mating call of a frisky male koala! Watch out for them on the roads at night and please keep your dogs indoors and on a leash when walking! Big Scrub Landcare presents its annual Big Scrub Rainforest Day on 14-15th Oct. This weekend celebrates our beautiful subtropical rainforests and includes tree planting, learning about our local wildlife, mountain biking, bushwalking and more. HEAVILY Meditated With Caitlin Cady
This week's mantra DON’T MISS THE BLISS. In between the piles of laundry and endless tidying up and diaper changing and meal planning and refereeing and coaxing and all the other things that can make the days feel like an endless string of reruns, there are THESE moments. The sweet, magical moments wedged in between the mundane. It can feel like the mundane dominates our days with necessities and duties. But we must be careful not to let the rhythmic trance of the mundane blind us to the bliss (no matter how fleeting it may be.) The mundane is the engine that keeps the wheels rolling, but the magic is what fills up the tank. Remember to ALLOW these interruptions to the mundane machinations of your day. Make space for them, be purposeful in noticing them...or you miss the bliss. Pause. Notice. Linger a bit longer. Take a deeper breath. Open your eyes a little wider. Feel the feels. Capture the moment with every single sense. And then tuck it into the folds of your heart. Let it fuel you as you roll on.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
THURSDAY MIGHT BE A DIFFICULT DAY;
a Mars/Saturn square strains the atmosphere and has the potential to bring out the worst in some people. Mars in Virgo is a relentless perfectionist, while Saturn in Sagittarius focuses on limitation and restraint. You might feel the tension internally, feel trapped in a right/wrong argument or be irritated by someone’s controlling behaviour. This unease might linger for a few days, but by Sunday most of the clouds have lifted. This is a great day for a creative group endeavour; share some uplifting ideas and inspirations. Watch out for misunderstandings and unclear messages on Monday evening while the Moon in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces. On Wednesday Mercury unites with Jupiter in Scorpio. Whatever is communicated is intensified for good or for ill. A lot of plotting and scheming might be going on... For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES
The Queen of Cups represents the ability to communicate feelings accurately and with integrity while acting from a calm and centred inner space. You may want to spend some time in nurturing nature to invite more inner peace and guidance into your life.
h TAURUS
With the Princess of Disks drawn you may be incubating something – a new idea, a creative project or a new lifestyle. Now is the time for laying strong foundations and preparing yourself as much as possible for the next wondrous phase of your life.
i GEMINI
With the Justice Tarot card drawn you are committed to weighing all sides of an issue before you are ready to draw conclusions. You might be able to help others to shift their more extreme perspectives towards a broader view, and therefore bring more goodwill and harmony into your community.
j CANCER
The 3 of Swords describes the heartache that is caused by the Crab’s tendency to be so attached to the past. Things might work out better this week if you consciously detach yourself from what has been and focus on what is. Right in this moment the heart might find something to rejoice about.
BY GISELA
k LEO
The Judgment card demonstrates readiness for an honest appraisal of your current situation. The way you judge yourself and others is being transformed and refined by the voice of your inner wisdom and experience. This increases your capacity for impartial observation and gives you the resources to make better choices.
l VIRGO
c SAGITTARIUS
When the Devil Tarot card appears it is high time to look at some lifestyle choices you made in the past and how they enslave you now. In order to free yourself you might have to dive deep into your own psyche, deal with your own shadow and consider new options from this perspective. Don’t get too serious though and make sure you apply a dose of humour at times!
The Chariot heralds a new beginning; it all starts with fierce determination and renewed confidence in your abilities. Here is an opportunity to create new realities! Your road to success is paved with positive changes that bring you closer to embodying your true essence and purpose. Believe in yourself and weed out any self-sabotage.
d CAPRICORN
a LIBRA
e AQUARIUS
The Hierophant’s outlook on life is rather conservative; he stands for beliefs and rules that have proven to contribute to increased harmony, wellbeing and the greater good of all. You might find yourself in an adviser or counsellor role this week and may be able to resolve issues in your family or community. People respect your inner wisdom and experience.
b SCORPIO
The 8 of Wands indicates you have to move swiftly and strike while the iron is hot if you want to see progress. This week it all depends on your ability to communicate fast, clearly and efficiently. If you have been avoiding some conversations, this is the time to get over procrastination, tackle them and own up to where you stand.
The 8 of Disks indicates your great need for a safe, secure and structured environment. Avoid chaotic situations, places and people! Time spent in nature and/or meditation recharges your batteries and can be your fuel for a concentrated, pragmatic and diligent effort to achieve your objectives.
With the Ace of Wands drawn there is no holding back this week! It is a fiery, creative and undiluted force that needs to be channelled into a worthwhile cause, otherwise its magnitude could trigger destruction in the form of angry outbursts. Your enthusiasm, confidence and courage are contagious and fire-up other people too...
f PISCES
The Queen of Swords does not waste any time with small-talk or exchange of niceties; she urges you to get to the heart of any matter as quickly as possible. It takes courage to be honest and this week you are rewarded by great clarity as soon as you can face the truth, own it and communicate it.

YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN AS ONE OF FIVE LOCAL BYRON ACTS FOR THE FALLS FESTIVAL FOSTER A BAND COMPETITION WITH A CHANCE TO PLAY AT FALLS THIS YEAR. HAVE YOU EVER PLAYED A LARGE FESTIVAL? I'm super stoked! I played at Splendour in the Grass a couple years back but I've grown a lot as an artist since then, so this is all very exciting :)
WHEN DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC? My dad has always
played guitar, mum was a dance teacher, so I guess I've grown up around it and I can't remember a time that I wasn't singing. However, when I started getting into guitar at 13 years old that's when my passion for music really became an obsession.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE STYLE OF MUSIC YOU PLAY AND WHERE YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM? The best
way to describe it is just 'singer - songwriter'. I go through phases of exploring different styles of music. In terms of inspiration, it is mostly coming from the AMAZING local talent! But I mean there are so many others, Kyle Lionhart, Josh Lee Hamilton, Garrett Kato, Luke Morris, Phil and Tiley!!
YOU SAY THAT YOU BUSK DURING THE DAY IN BETWEEN PERFORMING AT VENUES AND SURFING. WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO BUSK? I love to busk at the top park
(across from the beach hotel). Nothing beats playing to the sunset.Â
YOUR TOURING IN NOVEMBER, CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE SHOWS? Yes, these shows are going to be so wicked. They aren't in venues but rather random 'secret locations' (living rooms, recording studios, art gallery's, cricket pitches). All shows are BYO food/ drinks and all ages friendly. Plus, the audience only receive the 'secret' location the day before. To vote for Adam in this years Falls Festival Foster a Band competition visit www.fallsfestival.com
