TO SAY?

MEAT LOVER - MARK WIDEMAN I have been looking for a room in a share house for some time now. I love meat, drink wine on the weekends, enjoy having my mates around for dinner and I prefer to run than practice yoga. It’s hard for me to find a place that doesn’t have strong rules and regulations that seemingly don’t align with my vibe. Does it mean that I don’t really belong in Byron or should all the vegans chill out, relax and slow down? I am neat, tidy, friendly and considerate so why should it matter that I cook up a steak?

FREE THE LIGHTY FROM CARS - NATURE FAN As part of the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service 50th anniversary earlier this month the lighthouse was closed to cars. I love walking or running the lighthouse 2 or 3 times a week. It is a great space to get close to nature and take a break life's stressors. At times however the circling of cars at the top of the lighty is a little too much and takes away from this wonderful spot. On the closure day it was really a better place to be without the noisy cars. Do we need to have car access at every beautiful point round here? Not everyone can walk the track so cars make sense, but not as much sense as a shuttle bus. Is it time to ban the car and get a bus up the lighty? Or should everyone just walk it?

Congrats Nature Fan

DEAR KEENWA, Summer is here in The Bay! I love it, all the telltale signs of good times ahead; bindis, barbecues, and long lines of holiday traffic. Everywhere. Is it just a matter of divine timing? Or tell me, why do all the roadworks commence when the population triples? Summa Lova

DEAR SUMMA LOVA, We are so lucky to have such a caring council in that they sit on our rate-paying mulla to wait until all the stars are aligned to begin necessary repairs. Just think, the more time you spend gridlocked in the car in traffic, the less time you're getting burnt or bindi'd. You could even leave a pair of tweezers in the glovebox and whilst you have a moment to spare, pick out some of those hard to reach buggers. You're welcome.

YOUR BUSINESS HERE FROM $17 Advertise your business from as little as $17/week. For more info and full rates please visit byronbazaar.com/businessclassifieds or call our helpful sales team on 02 6680 7158

DEAR KEENWA, I love that coffee shop app that lets you order and pay for your cup of Joe on your phone (not while you're driving of course). It's particularly amazing when you're late to school drop off, and need to leave the kids in the car and run in. The last few times I've used it however, I've rocked up to find my little coffee docket sitting on the pickup bench, alone. I.e without my beverage of choice alongside it. Is there another Mary Smith in town or am I being ghosted? Twisties and Windows Down

DEAR TWISTIES AND WINDOWS DOWN, Stolen identity, it's a common one in these parts. A good cafe does perform a photo I.D check on every customer, but also as they say, an app a day keeps the doctor away. So I think you should see the incidence as a sign, the universe might be trying to tell you something. Do your adrenals need a bit of a break? Your liver a rest? A chai instead?

HEAVILY Meditated With Caitlin Cady

This week's mantra BE A LAMP, OR A LIFEBOAT, OR A LADDER. "Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone’s soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd." - Rumi Show up. Show love. Light a fire. Light the way. Lend advice. Lend an ear. And a hand. Listen. Hear them. Make them soup. Make them laugh. Send flowers. Send your love. Tell the truth. Tell a joke. Say "I love you." Say a prayer. Write a note. Write a book. Crack the code. Copy the key. Share your stories. And your solutions. Whatever you have to offer, offer it freely. SERVE it up.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST

THE LIBRA NEW MOON OCCURS EARLY

on Friday morning and is exactly opposite Uranus. While Sun and Moon united crave peace and harmony, Uranus is famous for stirring the pot. He gets excited by unexpected changes, he loves awkward revelations out of the blue and he is the quintessential inventor. Some genius ideas and plans may be conjured up with that energy, especially when la Luna teams up with resourceful Jupiter in Scorpio later in the afternoon. The close proximity of the New Moon to the cusp of Scorpio might trigger relationship pains – longing for a partner or feeling smothered and controlled by one. During the weekend it might be very soothing for your soul to spend some time alone in nature, rather than letting yourself be distracted by too many social opportunities. On Monday Mars moves into Libra where he resides until early December. Mars’ impulsiveness and fiery force is softened while he traverses Libra and he is more inclined to cooperate, relate and consider the impact of his actions on others. Also on Monday, the Sun moves into Scorpio, where Mercury and Jupiter already reside. For the next month the Sun shines a brilliant light into Scorpio’s intensity, courage and passion. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

The Prince of Cups symbolises the lover within. He allows his passionate heart to lead the way but he is not a slave to his intense desires. This week you are challenged to explore this rather delicate equilibrium within yourself. You might discover the strength of vulnerability.

The 9 of Disks holds the gift of success on the material level, but also increases the availability of all things refined and aesthetic. When your safety and comfort zones are taken care of you are able to turn towards rewarding, creative endeavours.

i GEMINI

This week the Temperance Tarot card reminds you to avoid extremes and to nurture your inner equilibrium. This might be a difficult task since Mercury, who rules Gemini, is in Scorpio and can be rather brooding. Hold on to your visionary qualities and make an effort to temper and integrate seeming polarities.

j CANCER

The 8 of Disks paints the picture of perfect order and harmony. A concentrated and diligent effort might be necessary to achieve this, but your rewards are the exquisite beauty and satisfaction which blossom from your commitment to serve the greater good of all.

The 2 of Swords represents inner peace which comes naturally when you are ‘at one’ with yourself. While others may experience doubt and tension this week, it looks like smooth sailing for you because you are confident about the decisions you are making and content with the results.

The Prince of Swords demands attention to you innermost motivations and drives. As you examine these you may want to question their effectiveness. Maybe you find some beliefs and habits that have outlived their usefulness; this might prompt you to investigate behaviour that delivers more of what you want.

a LIBRA

The 10 of Cups depicts the pinnacle of fulfilment. Especially during the New Moon time you might feel elated and overflowing with joy. Your happiness and gratefulness have a ripple effect and touch everyone you come in contact with.

b SCORPIO

The 7 of Swords indicates a negative state of mind. You might be feeling a bit wary, hopeless or helpless concerning a certain issue, but your limiting self-talk isn’t helping you to shift gears. If you are aware of the kind of language you use and focus on motivational and inspirational thoughts, then things won’t feel that heavy any more.

With the Hermit drawn it is time for introspection and retreat into your own private world. You may need to complete unfinished business and reorganise your life in ways that are more harmonious and aligned with your true nature. Honour your need for space!

When the Magician appears anything is possible! You may be able to set big things in motion this week, as you utilise your resources, skills and tools. Your creative power, your inner clarity and your willingness to ‘give it all’ are reaching a peak and you are able to produce truly magical results.

e AQUARIUS

The 9 of Wands stands for stamina and resilience. This week it may be necessary to hold onto your strength of vision and recommit to the goals and choices you have made. This way you can tap into latent and yet unexplored potential that helps you reach your next milestone of measurable success.

f PISCES

With the 4 of Wands drawn you may feel excited and passionate about new possibilities. Nevertheless some old issues or projects must come to a satisfying completion before you are truly free enough to move on. You may learn a valuable lesson if you hang in there until you create a satisfying ending or exit strategy.

SaVe E DAT THE

Australian man adopted by Indonesian tribe, As Worlds Divide Film UNTIL 30TH OCTOBER / ONLINE

For those who missed the sell out screening of As Worlds Divide a few months back at The Byron Community Centre, the documentary is now available for download for 30 days only. The Mentawais is loved for its surfing, however, through extensive research conducted by Rob Henry, it has become apparent that the forced relocation of the Mentawai people from the forest into government resettlement villages has disconnected the majority of the population from their culture, pushing them towards a state of poverty and threatening the community's longevity. Since 2008, Rob has been living in and out of the Mentawai tribal community and in an attempt to raise awareness about this threatened culture, he has created a feature documentary film, As Worlds Divide. For just $10 you can get your copy of the film with all money raised goes towards the community’s cultural education program. The concept is simple: Watch a film, save a culture #wafsac To support head to www.iefprograms.org/wafsac

Q&A A Q U IC K C H

A T W IT H .. .

Kingswoods' Fergus Linacre, @KINGSWOODBAND

YOU ARE TOURING YOUR LATEST LP AFTER HOURS, CLOSE TO DAWN. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE ALBUM? Well, it's

certainly not anything like the first album. We aren't one of those bands that keeps reproducing the same sound, we like to experiment and push ourselves and our fans to new places. So the albums is very diverse, emotional and unexpected.

THIS IS YOUR THIRD AUSTRALIAN TOUR THIS YEAR. WHAT’S IT LIKE TO BE ON THE ROAD? DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE TOWN TO PLAY? Every time we finish a tour we wish we had another one, we have just never gotten sick of it. I think we are most excited about Cairns, we have been trying to play there for a while now. It's also gonna' be heating up so a lot of beach time between shows.

CAN WE JUST SAY, THE HIGHLIGHT FOR US WAS YOUR COVER OF THE DESTINY’S CHILD CLASSIC ‘SAY MY NAME’. IT WAS AMAZING ON TRIPLE J’S LIKE A VERSION, BUT HEARING IT LIVE AT SPLENDOUR WAS NEXT LEVEL. WHAT WAS IT LIKE ON STAGE? That song is heaps of fun to play. It fully encompasses the whole band, the girls, the horns, and we only just learned it a few weeks before so we were pretty pumped to play it. Safe to say we will play it on this tour.

DID YOU GET TO STICK AROUND AND SEE ANY ACTS?

Yeah we had a house and stuck around all weekend, QOTSA were badass as always but my personal fav was Paul Kelly, seeing so many young people singing along to his music was pretty inspiring.

AFTER FINISHING THIS TOUR IN NOVEMBER, WHAT’S UP NEXT? A few festivals but mainly we will be writing

for a new album, actually we've already started so hopefully we record it early next year. Kingswood are playing at The Northern on Sunday 22 October. Tickets at www.thenorthern.oztix.com.au
