H IN GOT SOMET

G TO SAY?

THE BYRON BUBBLE - CHAD KOLCZE The Byron bubble expanded and bulged as the butterfly effect rippled out. Last Saturday I witnessed many excited local crew participate in a quest, an all ages scavenger hunt. The positive ripples I witnessed as a volunteer collecting evidence was beautiful and amazing. I was receiving text messages from random people that just received a free hug, getting videos of 'random acts of kindness' from the 19 teams and collecting Xmas cards written for the folk at elderly homes. I also heard teams planted herbs in the Liberation Larder garden, for those homeless and in need of free food. My favourite task however, was teams (often a bunch of Under 12's) posing with a Rugby 7's team that imposingly dwarfed the Quest participant but all had smiles. So many positive ripples...

ALEJANDRO MORTON IN ANSWER TO @MEATLOVER ISSUE #158 Why you ask? Why should it matter? The answer it seems is because it is actually much bigger than you or me or those around us who are looking for housemates to share experiences in this world. Everyday is a nightmare for millions; everyday we love for their truth. Every dollar is a vote, a vote for the world we wish to see tomorrow. In a world where kindness for ALL is all too seemingly un-publicly distant, the struggle to stand for those in need and to live to morals we all innately feel builds up and constant reminders of all our senses (sight, smell, energy etc.) in our own homes, our sanctuaries, can be a draining force. Vegans wish not to isolate, denigrate or discriminate BUT to end it for ALL. #Bethechange

DEAR KEENWA, My last 12 lovers have been white, kombuchadrinking, bearded long-boarders. My surfing has improved and my gut flora loves me, but I think I need a change, as I just can't get excited in the bedroom anymore. Any tips on branching out in The Shire? Single White Female

DEAR SINGLE WHITE FEMALE, Michaela Boehm, the intimacy expert talks about something called erotic friction. Good bedroom dynamics need all the points of difference, but good relationships are the opposite, they need common points or sameness. So what's it going to be, punk? My personal experience is that it is much of a muchness, the thing that excites you at the beginning is always going to kill you in the end. That cute accent that you're frothing on now, you could always get the bearded boarder to put on when it's business time. Same diff, you dig?

DEAR KEENWA, I recently spotted my new girlfriend taking garlic gloves and a pot of yoghurt into the bathroom after we'd been intimate. There's also vanity cabinet evidence of apple cider vinegar. What's with the salad dressing cum personal hygiene? I do like my women a-la-natural, but is she a vampire in disguise? Her hickeys are pretty mean. Garlic Breath

DEAR GARLIC BREATH, It may be true that all women are witches, but long before kombucha and kale there was garlic. Not much hash-tagging went down for this poor guy, and sure it's a tad on the pungent side for some, particularly in certain body parts, but an antimicrobial, antibacterial, antioxidant, blood pressure and cholesterol lowering wonder cure for all it is. Personally, i'd much rather salad dressing over a cheesy taco any day.

HAVE A QUESTION FOR KEENWA?

HEAVILY Meditated With Caitlin Cady

This week's mantra GO IT ALONE. "We will never hear that inner voice unless we risk solitude." - James Hollis Without solitude and quietude we can never hear our inner guidance, our intuitions and instincts. And without inner guidance we get stuck. Stuck in the repetitions of the mind. Stuck outsourcing for information rather than tapping into our inner resources. Stuck navigating new territory with an old map. Stuck projecting old stories onto new experiences. Stuck in fear. Stuck cycling through the same bullshit that no longer serves us. If you're feeling stuck in a cycle, go solo + get quiet. Go for a walk. Meditate. Take a long bath. Write a letter to yourself. Make a cup of tea like it’s a sacred ritual. Whatever way you can do it, go forth, go it alone and get quiet. Give yourself high-quality alone time and you gift yourself with access to the infinite gold mine of your intuitive resources. It's a sure fire way to hit the refresh button, crack open a can of fresh feels, unfold a new map and trace your finger over a new route.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST

THE SCORPIO SUN IS CATCHING UP

with Jupiter (exact on Friday). This alignment happens in a rhythm of 11 to 12 years and heralds new, optimistic beginnings. The creative edge is sharp and the regenerative potential is extremely high! If you truly want to make something happen, this is the time to passionately and courageously go ahead. If you are in deep need of healing this may also be an opportune time to explore a new healing modality that might lead to a breakthrough for you. Since the Sun/Jupiter union shines a magnifying light into Scorpio it may also reveal facts that have been hidden for a long time. This could lead to a transformational experience during the next few days. A Venus/Pluto square on Saturday intensifies feelings and also any compulsive/obsessive tendencies. If it all gets a bit much for you, you may want to limit your contact with the outside world this weekend and rather focus on an interesting, intriguing project that keeps your mind busy and allows your nerves to calm down. Monday and Tuesday are great days to get ahead; focused and efficient work comes naturally and you may be surprised about how much can be accomplished. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES

The 3 of Swords describes the habit of re-working the past in your mind, especially the painful bits. As soon as you notice you are doing that, you can consciously focus on forgiveness, recovery and the positive lessons you can learn from past experience. Practise letting go of old grudges.

h TAURUS

The 2 of Disks promises expansive change and opportunities that line up for you with the Sun/Jupiter conjunction this week. You need to trust your intuition and stay flexible in your approach to new situations. If you decide to go with the flow you might have a lot of fun...

i GEMINI

BY GISELA

c SAGITTARIUS

d CAPRICORN

With your built-in desire for greatness it is easy to overlook the wise message of the Prince of Disks. He asks you to attend to simple day-to-day activities with much passion and vigour, because they pave the road for bigger things to happen. This is the week to take care of details and wrap up loose ends.

The 6 of Wands represents victory, acknowledgement and success. The time is ripe to take a risk or a leap! You can be sure to land on your feet, as long as what you are aiming for is also for the greater good of everyone involved. Explore the beauty of win-win deals.

a LIBRA

With the 10 of Wands drawn the big question this week is: ‘What are you holding back and why?’ The way you limit yourself affects your power, vision and scope; there is so much more that you could live, express and enjoy. Go for it!

The 3 of Cups symbolises love in action, sharing and caring. For an intimate relationship it promises great fulfilment, but even if you are without a partner there are so many ways to share your love and light with others. What you give returns to you in many ways.

j CANCER

b SCORPIO

Your caring and nurturing energy is usually focused on your nearest and dearest. This week the Star Tarot card nudges you to turn your attention towards yourself and your own wants and needs. There may be creative ideas and inspirations you have been putting on the backburner; if you don’t give time to them they can’t ever be validated.

With the 9 of Cups drawn and the Sun/Jupiter conjunction in your sign you must be lucky! A wish might be granted or a big goal might be achieved and you’ll certainly get acknowledgement from your peers. There is nothing much to do any more, just be open and relax into enjoying the fruits of your hard labour.

The Death Tarot card heralds the ending of a major phase or aspect of your life. Holding on causes you more pain than letting go. The profound change and transformation that you are embarking on is in essence a release of old patterns and behaviour that you used to be identified with, but have outgrown.

The Ace of Wands symbolises undiluted, raw force that needs to be channelled into a worthy mission. When your energy levels are high and you are fired up you can move mountains! Trust yourself and go for it! If you don’t use this power constructively it turns against you.

e AQUARIUS

The Knight of Swords is passionate about his direction; he moves fast, with determination and certainty. This week you might feel extremely passionate about some of your ideas; if you align your focus, will and intention you’ll be unstoppable!

f PISCES

The Hanged Man is stuck because he holds on to outdated patterns and self-imposed limitations. This is the perfect week for you to take stock, pause and reflect on different postures, perspectives and possibilities. Allow the Sun/Jupiter union to shine a glaring, transformational and healing light into any of your perceived personal hang-ups, and love yourself anyway.

Q&A A Q U IC K C H

A T W IT H .. .

Emma Seibold, @BENDEBYRON

EMMA, YOU ARE THE FOUNDER AND CREATOR OF BOTH BARRE BODY AND BENDE, CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY? My hubby, Matt and I

created and launched the Barre Body brand in 2011, and it’s been an incredible journey since then. We lived in Melbourne for two years and opened our four studios there, then moved to Sydney for two years to open our three studios there, and then we made the move two years ago to open our two Brisbane studios and now Bende.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BARRE BODY AND BENDE? Barre Body is a boutique barre fitness concept

and the classes are 95% barre. Bende will be much broader and incorporates many different movement styles. It has been created with the needs of the Byron Bay clientele in mind and incorporates elements of mindfulness, connection, fitness and self-reflection.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO OPEN BENDE AT HABITAT IN BYRON BAY? I’ve been living in Byron for two years and I wanted to create something beautiful, high-end, boutique and uniquely Byron.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE DIFFERENT CLASS STYLES THAT YOU OFFER AT BENDE? As well as vinyasa yoga,

barre and pilates, I’ve developed, called Flow, which is a melding of cardio, conscious movement, toning, mindfulness and visualisation. AND in November, we’ll be opening a second room with 10 reformer pilates beds and offering reformer flow and reformer cardio classes.

WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF LIVING IN BYRON BAY? Where do I start!? The magical energy, the healing vibes, the weather, the people, so much room to play with my family, I could go on and one. It’s heaven. For info and class bookings visit www.bende.com.au
