On Saturday, Byron Bay Event Co and Red Devil Park will be throwing an opening party to celebrate the park’s new facelift, with food trucks and Stone & Wood’s beer caravan, Bonnie, rolling in to keep everyone fed and hydrated. Head on over from 5pm to check out the transformed Village Bar and other park facilities, with live tunes courtesy of The Hombres. If you fancy a flick next week, cruise over to The Corner Palm at 6:30pm on Wednesday to catch a special screening of The Smog of the Sea, a doco featuring Jack Johnson, to help raise funds for local not-for-profit Clean Coast Collective’s next #trashtribe expedition ($20; thecornerpalm.com). There’ll be a bunch of prizes up for grabs on the night, including a double pass to catch Jack Johnson – who will be matching all donations made to CCC before 31 December – in concert in Brisbane on 3 December. Cheers to that.

Does anyone know if the Byron Shire Council is going to have a public vote on what our new train is going to be named? After Britain’s Boaty McBoatface, Sweden’s Trainy McTrainface and Sydney’s Ferry McFerryface I think we should rally around our new solar powered train and bring our community together for a bit of fun. How about Rail McRailface?
OUR FAVOURITE MARKET - LOCATION LOCATION Firstly, I am no expert on the details of a potential relocation of the Thursday Farmers Market in Byron. Secondly, I love the market, I think everyone does right? If it ain't broke why fix it, right or is that wrong? So, in the local press, the word on the street and on social media is so bloody confusing around the future of the Byron Farmer's Market location, key word being "location". Separating fact from fiction, opinion from emotion - please help. For me, I go to the market because of the great vibe, great products and to support "local". The current location is convenient but if the location did change then I'd still go, for example if I can't make Thursday I'll drive to the Bangalow Farmer's Market on Saturday. Finally, my point is I am in love with the farmers market (not it's location).

DEAR KEENWA, My man loves a good catch up chat in bed, after we've had some nice intimate time between the sheets, but I just can't go there. I really need to chill in tantric bliss and oneness. In silence. How do I get him to just hold me and shut up? Or am I being unreasonable? Are we just incompatible? The sex is so amazing though. Chatty Charlie
DEAR CHATTY CHARLIE, Just a heads up, if you ban him from talking he may end up passing out, and we all know nothing bursts a yummy vibe more than snoring. This question calls for a quick questionnaire. There's a chick called Jaiya, a somatic sexologist and best selling author, who came up with something called the erotic blueprint. Google that shit. Answer all her questions. Make your chatty sidekick do it too. (That'd buy you at least 15 minutes of post-coital silence me thinks). Share your results with one another. You're welcome.
DEAR KEENWA, I caught my girlfriend chanting the words witch in the mirror recently, should I be scared? As well as waving those smelly sage sticks around, she 'washes' her crystals under the moonlight, often says what I'm thinking, is a cat enthusiast, and wears black a lot. Does she sound like a good witch or a bad witch? How do I know I love her out of freewill? Witch Is It
DEAR WITCH IS IT, The short answer is you don't. Options? Burn her and others like her in a public place. Dose her up with garlic. Force her into patriarchal institutions or make her go to Church. Blame and shame her so that she is too frightened to practice her craft. Oh actually, they've all been done, and we're still here. So good luck with that one buddy. You could try a simple spell though, I have a good one for this specific situation if you're interested?

This week's mantra SORROW BEARS GIFTS. If there is something you are mourning, if there is grief or sadness that has cut you open, remember that when Sorrow comes to visit, she brings precious gifts with her. Gifts of healing and perspective. Sorrow is an alchemist, making medicine of our pain. Sorrow casts a sweet spell of humility. Letting the words "I'm sorry" or "I forgive you" burst into bloom in our throats and spill out of our mouths. Sorrow inspires us to make leaps over the gaps in our life where bridges have been burnt. Sorrow awakens us to our wings. Reminds us that we can always soar away from contempt, anger and blame, over the river of judgement, and land softly on the banks of understanding. Sorrow reminds us that in the equation of a life, the bottom line is Love. Not things. Not awards. Not money. Not your dress size. Not how much you achieved. Not who was right or who was wrong. The bottom line is how well you listened. How freely you gave. How joyfully you served. How generous you were. How patient. How grateful. How you made people feel. How many tender moments you had. Sorrow also holds within it the sharp spurs of Regret. These barbed messengers teach us that we can do better. So go do better while you have the time. Before your life slips through your fingers. Start right now. Gather this moment up in your arms. Wrap it with the embrace of your full attention. Make time. Become a bridge. Say I'm sorry like it's a prayer. Remember that loving and giving are the only ways to make a life matter.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
THE SUN JUST SLIPPED INTO FIERY
and freedom-loving Sagittarius where Mercury and Saturn reside already. From Thursday to Sunday Mercury forms an inspirational trine to Uranus; it’s all about ideas that broaden your horizons! You may have a brilliant breakthrough, take a project to the next level or experience something out of the ordinary that gives you a thrill. From Sunday onwards however, Mercury gets ready to unite with Saturn (exact on Tuesday). This is the reality check that brings everyone back to earth with a pragmatic and serious approach to any high-flying ideas and ideals. Nothing trivial stands the test of Saturn! It is also a marvellous time to work methodically and get lots done, unless you are troubled by heart matters. On Monday a Venus/ Chiron water trine might trigger old emotional hurts, but also the chance of profound transformation; therefore it is the perfect day for a healing session or a heart-to-heart conversation. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES
The Princess of Wands represents a free and liberated spirit; she is ready to soar to new heights, and so are you! This is an upbeat and optimistic week; you may overcome some old fears or self-doubts and you find yourself pioneering uncharted territory with great vigour.
h TAURUS
With the Knight of Disks drawn you might feel weighted down by your workload or responsibilities. As you buckle down and persevere you may miss the mark, because you overextend and exhaust yourself and don’t know when to quit or how to set clear boundaries.
i GEMINI
The 7 of Swords symbolises mental overdrive and exhaustion at the same time. Try stepping back and really listening to what you are thinking. You may find that you are running on old, self-sabotaging thought-patterns that easily creep up on you when you are stressed or tired. Time to take a break.
j CANCER
The Fool Tarot card marks a new, heart-felt beginning. Suddenly you might find yourself oblivious to old fears, while also running out of reasons why you should not step forward. Anything is possible from this place; your creativity is at an all-time high and you may be graced by a peak-experience that transforms you to your very core.
BY GISELA
k LEO
c SAGITTARIUS
l VIRGO
d CAPRICORN
In the light of the Moon Tarot card it is difficult to discern your direction. You might fall prey to illusions, find yourself misled or become confused. Only deep soul-searching will get you back onto your authentic path. Don’t conceal what you feel from loved ones, it may backfire and make things worse.
The 4 of Wands nudges you to open up to new possibilities. Issues that have been troubling you for a while may now find a very positive resolution. Trust yourself, speak your truth and let love be the motivating factor for any action.
a LIBRA
The 3 of Cups promises fruitful and fulfilling times. You can have a lot of fun socialising with friends and family, but you also might have a great opportunity to network or collaborate with like-minded people and further an important project. Romance might knock on your door too…
b SCORPIO
With Venus and Jupiter in your sign and the 8 of Cups drawn you might feel very low in energy, or burned-out from emotional exhaustion and depletion. You might have to find a way to let go, walk away and move on from a particularly hopeless situation. As soon as you make a decision you’ll feel better.
The 3 of Wands indicates that you are hitting the mark no matter what your incentives are this week! Your integrity and foresight may set an inspiring example for others and you get a chance to prove your leadership abilities. At times though, you must give your undivided attention to your own body and soul.
The 2 of Swords represents the longing for peace of mind. However, it is difficult to achieve because you might feel pressed to come to a decision with regards to an important matter, yet you prefer sitting on the fence. Since you have mulled things over endlessly in your mind, it is now time to drop into your heart space and feel…
e AQUARIUS
The World Tarot Card nudges you to extend your perspective and your sphere of influence. It is not enough right now to follow your wellknown path; if you long for more freedom and adventure you have to dust yourself off and somehow reinvent yourself. A trip might give you inspiration.
f PISCES
The Sun is shining her delightful, warm and creative rays onto you this week. May you stay light-hearted and playful in a childlike way and shine your light forth brilliantly. All creative and collaborative endeavours are favoured; they give you lots of joy and bring great results.

SaVe E DAT THE
Long live the surfer exhibition
OPENING FRIDAY 1ST DEC 6PM – 8PM / LONE GOAT GALLERY Ben Cook has teamed up with Surfrider Foundation Australia, a registered not for profit organisation dedicated to the protection of Australia’s waves and beaches, to capture a series of portraits of surfers along the east coast of Australia. From his home town of Bondi to Byron Bay, Ben and Creative Director, Scott McClelland, have met, shot and gotten wet with surfers to help capture the breadth and depth of the surfers community. They have captured grommets, grannies and surfing legends such as Ozzie Wright, Barton Lynch and Tom Carroll and the local surfers of The Pass, Watego’s and Suffolk Park. The photos are being used by Surfrider Foundation to connect with surfers and spread their cause of beach and ocean conservation.
Periwinkle Preschool Christmas Fair
SATURDAY 2ND DEC 10AM – 2PM / PERIWINKLE PRESCHOOL The Periwinkle Preschool will open its grounds again this year to celebrate Christmas with the community. The Christmas Fair will include raffles, craft activities, stalls, organic food and entertainment including on-stage music, circus acts by The Space Cowboy and story and song sessions hosted by Periwinkle founder Susan Perrow. This ‘Waste-Wise Event’ uses stainless steel and banana leaf plates, biodegradable cups and straws and fresh drinking coconuts. All food scraps will be composted and you won’t see a single plastic cup or fork anywhere.

Sharnee Thorpe @WANDERINGFOLK
WHO ARE WANDERING FOLK? We are the wanderers, the
ones who love to escape city life at every chance we get, and we’re all about camping adventures, good friends and great food.
HOW WAS WANDERING FOLK BORN? Wandering folk was
born out of our love for camping. The idea came to us when we were camping in the mud and had nothing waterproof to sit on.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS? We make durable printed cotton canvas picnic rugs and now outdoor cushions. Both our rugs and cushions have waterproof backing so you can stay dry from the damp ground. All the prints on our rugs and cushions are hand drawn and designed by me.
WHO IS BRONSON? Our 1969 Commer Campervan that
we purchased a few years ago, we re did all the inside to be 70’s heaven, wallpapered the roof, new curtains, covered the seats in corduroy fabric and used press tin as our kitchen splash back.
WHAT IS THE BEST ROAD TRIP YOU HAVE DONE? We did an
amazing road trip down the west coast of California, from Portland Oregon past waterfalls, through canyons and picnicked under the huge red woods all the way to Yosemite National Park.
APART FROM YOUR PRODUCTS, WHAT ARE YOUR CAMPING ESSENTIALS? Fairy lights, fire top coffee maker, jaffle iron and wine.
