crowds doesn’t necessarily mean Netflix is your only option this week. Tonight, you can flex your trivia chops at the Bangalow Bowlo to raise funds for local charity Liberation Larder; $50 gets you entry and a slap-up chicken (or veg) dinner. Be there for 6pm. Over in Ballina on Friday, coffee roastery and espresso bar Old Quarter Coffee Merchant is having a bit of a knees-up to celebrate its grand opening. Join the crew at 2/6 Endeavour Close for drinks and nibbles from 5:30-7:30pm.

IN RESPONSE TO GETTING ON THE WAGON – ISSUE #163 SHAMANA MARSHALL I presume the new train is going to be classic in colour, homogenised just like the town, and inevitably will be graffitied. If Elements wasn't just doing it for themselves and had worked in with Council's idea of parking at Cavanbah Centre they could have extended the line a few more yards and the parking idea may have been more feasible. I am interested to see how residents react to its running including how noisy it will be.

GARDEN SHOUT OUT – ANONYMOUS It has come to my attention that there have been members of Suffolk community submitting complaints to council about the beautiful community garden next the Baz and Shaz as well as the verge gardens people lovingly tend to at the back of their houses. I've realised that it is often the negative people that are the loudest so I want to put a shout out to all the people who have been involved in trying to make our community a better place through gardens and sharing. I support you and love what you do, don't let those who can't see the beauty around you get you down. I also encourage anyone who cares to contact council and let them know you support the projects. If they only hear from those who like to complain they wont know there are others out there that love it!

DEAR KEENWA, I've been with an epic girl for 6 months, but I noticed last night that I wanted to Netflix and chill...literally. I really wanted to catch the end of the movie. We also spent long periods of time over the weekend opening up and sharing deep truths about ourselves. I love her more than ever, but where has the lust gone? Is it realistic to want it to stick around? Great Expectations

DEAR GREAT EXPECTATIONS, Three words for you. Mating in Captivity. Now do they make you feel horny? Of course not, but we humans are a complex bunch. We spend our lives looking for our other half, and every waking from the first tinder date tricking them into being our stable, secure predictable partner, yet it is the instability in the beginning that feeds our desire for one another. Simple solution: bring that instability back into the bedroom. Base jumping from the top bunk? Water bed? The more creative the better.

DEAR KEENWA, My place of employment often sends me home after an hour because it's quiet. They also recently requested an unpaid private meeting outside of work hours (and my availability) to discuss a malfunctioning printer. I'm a beautician not an IT geek. When I was unable to attend, I was fired. How could someone with so many tourism awards not offer their staff award treatment? Do nice guys always finish last? Unfair Dismissal

DEAR UNFAIR DISMISSAL, Firstly, I would be joining a workplace union, as no human should ever be in a situation with a malfunctioning printer, no matter what the industry. Secondly, universal law means that nice people don't vibe with toxic ones, so think of it like you've won a decent human award, and get hash tagging gratitude and so blessed all over the shop, as you have dodged a bullet my friend.

HAVE A QUESTION FOR KEENWA?

This week's mantra HOW YOU DO ANYTHING IS HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING. Paying bills, changing diapers, cooking dinner, phone calls, emails, exercising, making tea, folding laundry filing paperwork‌.these can all feel like a series of boxes to tick, an endless chain of the mundane. But remember that you get to choose whether you trudge through tasks or whether you do them with joy, with devotion, with presence, with gratitude, with pleasure. No matter how mundane, mindless, repetitive or meaningless these tasks may seem, they are an opportunity to train yourself in the art of presence and intention. With the power of your attention and your intention, you can make the repetitious into a ritual, the mundane into the magical. Because how you do anything is how you do everything. So choose to make your life a moving meditation... with every task, every effort, every conversation, every moment, remind yourself..."how I do this is how I do everything.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST

GET READY FOR ANOTHER THREE WEEKS

of retrograde Mercury, starting on Monday. This means, back up your computer files, make sure all your electronic devices work well and check your car before Monday. On Friday Lady Venus slips into adventurous Sagittarius, where Sun, Mercury and Saturn already reside. Almost simultaneously we have a Mars/Uranus opposition which may contribute to stress and tension in relationships. The giants Jupiter and Neptune are forming a longterm water trine that is with us for most of next year. This Sunday they celebrate their first exact meeting. On a collective level social justice might become more important to many more people and the plight of refugees and other innocent victims might touch the hearts of the masses in a new and profound way. On a personal level our value system or ethics may reach a higher standard and inspire us to generosity and to uphold community spirit. This is also a highly spiritual and creative transit, so dream big and stay in the flow of things... The Full Moon in Gemini has a very inspirational quality as well and is the perfect time for a vision quest into your deeper mission on this planet. Mercury’s retrograde motion assists to reassess and rethink your aspirations and motivations. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES

The 2 of Wands ignites your pioneering spirit; it boosts your energy and vitality levels, and you are ready for assertive action. While you can wield a lot of influence you have to be mindful of others’ needs and wants as well, or you risk great conflict.

h TAURUS

The 5 of Disks indicates that you might not be content with your productivity or the way you communicate with others. Instead of worrying about it and going into ‘whatif’ scenarios it might be helpful to reassess your priorities and do something that is uplifting to your spirit.

i GEMINI

c SAGITTARIUS

l VIRGO

d CAPRICORN

The Chariot heralds a time for change and new beginnings. You are gifted with an opportunity to create new realities that expand and deepen your nature. Before you rush off, contemplate which changes and innovations most support your overall growth and evolution.

The 8 of Wands indicates a busy time; you might not always be able to contemplate or plan your next move. All you can do is stay centred in your heart space, act from there and trust your intuitive hunches. You may discover that your uncensored and direct communication can solve problems on the spot.

With the Full Moon in your sign and the World Tarot card drawn this week the world is your oyster! Dreams may come true and heart desires might be fulfilled. Your newly-gained and liberated life perspective allows you to become more whole and individual. Now you can express yourself in a new, creative way.

a LIBRA

j CANCER

The Priestess Tarot card demonstrates the perfect combination of feminine receptivity and male direction. Your perception of situations is highly accurate, and you figure out quickly where to invest your energy. Because you trust your inner voice you don’t allow anyone to limit, restrict or restrain your personal sphere either.

The Ace of Wands represents an adventurous and fired-up spirit. Even though you are acutely aware of how your actions affect other people, this week you are unwilling to abandon yourself or hold back on your path of self-realisation. Your courage and enthusiasm might be intoxicating!

The Judgement Tarot card nudges you towards an honest appraisal of your situation and to take stock of the choices available. Any personal decisions you make have to take into account their long-term effects and the bigger picture for all involved.

b SCORPIO

The Empress represents the healing and nurturing power of love, and the wisdom that is needed to administer these qualities equally to yourself as you do to others. You might want to spend time in deep communication with Mother Nature, and bathe in her beauty and peace.

The 10 of Swords drawn describes the ‘wet blanket’ effect that you may have fallen prey to no matter which way you turn. If your experience is shrouded in negativity, don’t push yourself harder, rather allow for some time off to nurture and soothe your soul.

e AQUARIUS

The Fool Tarot card represents the archetype of the mystic or alchemist and may inspire you to courageously step out into uncharted territory. Your quest is to leave old fears behind, trust your intuition and follow your heart’s longing, without knowing where it is going to take you.

f PISCES

The Jupiter/Neptune trine might affect you personally more than other people; combined with the 9 of Disks drawn, the time is ripe to manifest your best. Infuse every mundane, day-to-day activity with the spirit of love and service for the greater good. Then watch how this enriches your experience…

This week's location SHELTER / @SHELTER.LENNOX While a visit to Shelter in Lennox Head is a great excuse to seek refuge from the weather, it’s also the perfect place to perch during glorious sapphire sky and crystal ocean days, with 180 degree views overlooking Seven Mile Beach. It’s down at 41 Pacific Parade – the former home to Foam and Seven Mile Beach Café. The restaurant space has been given a light and bright spruce with understated styling, but attention to detail where it counts (love those leather belt straps for rolling the blinds). Shelter is currently serving breakfast and lunch seven days a week from 6.30am – 3pm and dinner Thursday to Saturday from 5pm -10pm. For breakfast the Fish Cakes have legendary status and the Tasty Pork and Eggs is one hundred percent man food. For lunch, the Gnocchi is simple and light, while the Beef Flank is a tasty work of art. The Brodetto di Pesce – or seafood stew - is worth coming back for. For dinner, I highly recommend ordering the Chef’s selection - three courses, a side dish and a dessert each for $65 a head. The cocktail and drinks menu at Shelter is thorough and it’s nice to see some regional wines represented, like Toppers from New England. Shelter Lennox Head is a great place for breakfast and lunch with a view, but you must try dinner as well. Just make sure you book!

Q&A A Q U IC K C H

A T W IT H .. .

Janene and Rachel, Gardeners @HARVESTNEWRYBAR

HARVEST USE INGREDIENTS FROM THE GARDEN TO SUPPLY THEIR RESTAURANT AND DELI. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT WHAT YOU GROW? We are always salad efficient and

love to try and grow new and interesting plants. We are growing Cucamelon fruit and a Vietnamese water spinach called Kankirn at the moment.

WHAT IS THE LONG TERM PLAN FOR THE GARDENS? Recently we planted native trees and we hope to expand on this area of the garden over the next few years.

HOW DID YOU BECOME PROFESSIONAL GARDENERS?

Falling in love with seasons and cycles and wanting to help the planet – one zucchini at a time!

WHAT DOES YOUR JOB ENTAIL? We start working at 5.30am. Everyday is different from raking the fallen leaves to feeding the chickens, planting new seeds or designing and building a new structure in the garden.

WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB? Picking fresh produce for the chefs and getting to sample their delicious creations. We also love working together as a team.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AREA OF THE GARDENS AND WHY? This changes all the time as we are constantly

evolving. Our new beehive is a current favourite and we can’t wait to try the honey and make candles from the wax. You can visit the gardens at Harvest Newrybar during opening hours. See www.harvestnewrybar.com.au for more info.
