Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST
MARS, THE MASCULINE ARCHETYPE, JUST
moved into innovative, inventive and slightly eccentric Aquarius. Here he hangs out for an unusually long period until mid-November, due to his retrograde motion during July and August. His normal time spent in a sign is more or less about a month. This time he even retracts back into Capricorn for a short stint in mid-August. Thursday is a great day to catch up with friends or with your favourite creative project. Things run smoothly and satisfaction is almost guaranteed. On the contrary Friday may bring intense, unwanted feelings and a very self-critical attitude. Therefore Friday is not the perfect day to schedule an important meeting or a romantic date. On Saturday Venus, the archetype for feminine energy, moves into nurturing, sensitive and attached Cancer, where she resides until mid-June. Until then at least, Mars and Venus are at odds. He is ultra-independent, while she is in a very homely, nesting mood. On Monday the Sun moves into the Gemini zone, known for much socialising and a quick wit. Sun and Mars might inspire some great brainstorming sessions during the next seven days. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES
The 5 of Swords indicates worries about real or imagined setbacks that you anticipate. Things won’t turn out as bleak as you imagine them, so don’t get lost in worst case scenarios. Maybe it is your inner discord that plagues you most? Aries Sun signs, born in late March may feel most affected.
h TAURUS
With the 8 of Wands drawn, things may speed up this week forcing you to act and react quickly. There might not be enough time to mull things over or procrastinate; you have to strike while the iron is hot. If in doubt, follow your gut-feeling.
i GEMINI
With the Sun moving into your territory, Mars on your side and the Ace of Swords as guidance, your mind is quick, your direction is clear and your action is aligned with what you believe in. You leave all doubt behind and you are well equipped to solve a complicated situation, as well as helping others to get back on track.
j CANCER
When the Hermit appears it is time to hide in your crab shell for a little retreat in your own private world. Venus is on your side and really appreciates this right now. Surely after some time of introspection you’ll emerge with great new insights. As you know, self-care is a prerequisite for being able to look after others.
BY GISELA
k LEO
The Fortune Tarot card points to an opportunity and a change for the better. Often it starts with expanding your outlook and gaining a greater perspective. You might have great insight into the workings of your own mind and the out-dated habits that made you inflexible in the past. From here you are off into uncharted territory, exploring new worlds.
l VIRGO
With the 9 of Wands drawn you are in the process of finding your real strength. Trust the cooperative part of your inner voice that motivates and inspires you; it assists you to tap into your latent potential. You may discover a new powerful force welling up from deep inside that feels invigorating and provides resilience and direction.
a LIBRA
The Prince of Disks moves slowly but steadily towards his chosen objective. This often involves creating new structures and working on the intricate design of future possibilities that are yet to be revealed. He may inspire you to redesign or renovate your immediate environment in a practical and very effective way.
b SCORPIO
The Priestess suggests withdrawing from involvement as much as possible during this week. Because you feel extra sensitive and receptive to the vibes around you, you may need to take some time out to meditate, regenerate and reflect on what you would like to invoke into your life next.
c SAGITTARIUS
The 6 of Wands promises wellearned success and recognition. Projects you have been working on for a long time come to a fruitful completion and you, as well as anyone else involved, are happy with the results achieved.
d CAPRICORN
The 6 of Swords supports an objective and rational decision-making process, and points out that in order to move forward you have to let go and often leave something important behind. This is also an opportunity to overcome difficulties, shift gears and take an important step towards embodying who you truly want to be.
e AQUARIUS
The 10 of Disks depicts inner and outer riches. This week you may enjoy extra affluence and success. Things fall into place easily, mainly because deep down you have found an inner alignment with the principle of prosperity and the fact that you deserve it. Business deals and meetings should go well; just don’t schedule them for Friday!
f PISCES
The enormous force of the Ace of Wands must be funnelled into a clear direction and action, otherwise it might turn destructive and explode all over the place. Well used, it gives you courage, enthusiasm and belief in your abilities. Thus equipped you may realise more of your full potential and move forward enthusiastically.

DEAR KEENWA, My four year-old daughter had her eco feminist birthday party on the weekend and it ran perfectly! But I picked her up from school today to find one of the guest's party bags returned in her locker, with a note explaining they couldn't possibly use any of this stuff. Wtf? I was on Pinterest for months planning those gift bags and estimate the retail value at about $18 per child. - Party Pooper

I think you need to calm down and ask yourself if everything in that bag was culturally appropriate by Byron Bay standards. I mean everything. Did you stitch the bag yourself from hand-dyed, fair trade fabric, and organic thread? Was every single item plastic-free, sugar-free, and made from 100% sustainable wood? Was any unpaid child labour involved in any stage of bringing the bag together?
DEAR KEENWA, I met the most amazing guy a few weeks back. We just clicked so naturally, and spent the whole first date sharing our baby names' list, and dream honeymoon destinations, before we'd even locked lips! The next day he even followed up, so I didn't feel insecure, it was nice to know how into me he was. This went on for three dates, with the next date planned to be at his mother's house, as he said we had so much in common, but I’ve heard absolutely nothing from him. I'm devo'd. - Did I Do That?
DEAR MOTHERHOOD RISING, This sounds like a severe case of mosting. Unlike a visit from its ugly cousin, ghosting, being mosted involves a whole lot of affection and compliments real fast, so they seem like the most dreamiest guy you ever met. They are indeed the guy of your fantasies, and attachment avoidant as hell, meaning everything they talk about will remain a fantasy as they are petrified of committing.

This week's mantra
IF THEY BURN YOU OUT, CUT ‘EM OUT. IF THEY LIGHT YOU UP, FEED THE FLAME. I’m sure you’ve heard that quote by Jim Rohn, “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” BELIEVE that, y’all. We can talk about it in terms of sums and averages but here’s another way to say it: Life is all about resonance. It’s our nature as human beings to resonate with what surrounds us. We want to relate, we want to connect and we want to make others feel comfortable. So what that means is if you’re hanging with people who are doing low vibe things then you’re going to vibrate on that level with them. And if you surround yourself with people who are vibrating higher, you’re going to rise up and meet them there. So be conscious of who you surround yourself with. Notice how you feel around them. Do you feel inspired? Deeply connected? Uplifted? Like you can be you? Like you are loved? If the answer is yes, feed these relationships. If the answer is no, drop it like it’s hot, cause it’s time for an upgrade. In short: If they burn you out, cut ‘em out. If they light you up, feed the flame.

This week's review
TITLE: The Life Changing Art of Tidying AUTHOR: Marie Kondon NUMBER OF PAGES: 224 EST. READ TIME: 2 hours and 48 minutes WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Missed the Spring cleaning memo?
‘Forgot’ to tidy up the kid’s new toys after Christmas? Have too much STUFF? As boring as it sounds, reading a book about tidying your house (and your life) could be just what the doctor ordered. Marie Kondo is a cleaning and organisational wizard and has published her tidying hacks that are downright life changing. Kondo’s approach is simple - she asks you to ask yourself ‘Does this item spark joy?’ and this is just the start of her magical cleaning boot camp. WHO IT'S FOR: Parents who dream of maintaining order and those of us who are both messy and lazy. This isn’t just a new years resolution type book. It is inspiring and practical. Also cc: organisational junkies. WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: To learn that less is more! Marie Kondo’s cleaning artistry doesn’t just change the state of your messy wardrobe but gives you a different way of viewing your possessions. Her lifestyle philosophy is that of a minimalist, and one who truly knows the value of ‘things’. In a society where we are encouraged to buy more and be more, this book is a refreshing read. NOTABLE QUOTE: “Imagine what it would be like to have a bookshelf filled only with books that you really love. Isn’t that image spellbinding? For someone who loves books, what greater happiness could there be?” This week's review written by Jessie Hilton @jessieahilton

BHAVANA COOKING SCHOOL - NEWRYBAR Bhavana means ‘spiritual cultivation’ and at the Bhavana Cooking School in Newrybar, guests are invited to slow down for a day and appreciate how cultivating your own food and cooking for your health and wellbeing is good for your spiritual side as well. It also tastes pretty good! Tucked away in the green rolling hills of the Byron Bay hinterland is Bhavana Organic Farm and Cooking School is the combined dream of three friends – Greta, Jo and Susie - brought together through challenging times, to discover a new beginning through wholefood cooking. At Bhavana they want to share their passion for wholistic health with others in a nurturing, relaxing and fun cooking experience, free from the stresses of everyday. The day long cooking class begins with your personally selected pot of tea to sip and take in the view as you get to know your other classmates. We venture out into the kitchen garden to look at the array of fresh organic produce grown at Bhavana. After harvesting our final ingredients it’s back into the Bhavana kitchen for the next few hours to cook dishes including Papaya with Lime and Salt, Chicken Liver Pâté, Grain Free Bread, Baked Chicken Thighs with Braised Leeks, an Autumn Salad of Baked Beetroot, Fennel & Walnut, Whole Baked Sweet Potato and Coconut, Fresh Fig & Passionfruit Chia Pudding. Then it was lunch time with some organic wines. For the upcoming Bhavana Cooking School programme head to their website www.bhavanacookingschool.com

Festival of the Stone
SAT 9TH JUNE / STONE & WOOD’S BREWERY IN BYRON BAY Festival of the Stone is an annual family friendly event all about bringing the community together. This year, they will launch their dark winter seasonal ‘Stone Beer’. The beer honours the ancient techniques of brewing and has a roasted caramel aroma that’s balanced with a warming, full bodied cocoa flavour… perfect for a cold winter’s night! And all poured until the tap runs dry from their iconic beer truck Clyde and the newest addition to the brewery’s fleet Trevor the Troopie. There will also be live music, food and a dedicated kids area ‘Malt Disney’ with tunes as well as crafts and entertainment from Spaghetti Circus. All profits from the beer sales and tickets will go directly to national not-for-profit Ingrained Foundation, a separate entity of Stone & Wood that was set up to extend upon the brewery’s community program, who will donate proceeds from Festival to Big Scrub Landcare. Tickets are $30 via www.eventbrite.com.au

PLASTIC FREE Mermaid Healthy choices, healthy body, healthy oceans With Kate Nelson
I love having fresh homemade nut milk in the fridge ready for hot chai and turmeric lattes. Many nut milks on the market are packaged in cardboard lined with plastic which are not being recycled as is too costly and difficult to separate these resources. This recipe uses nutmeal, the ‘waste’ product left over from milking your nuts.
ROSEMARY ALMOND VEGAN PALEO BREAD INGREDIENTS: • • • • • • • • • • • •
2 cups nut meal 1/4 cup phylum husk 1/4 cup chia seeds 1/4 cup flax seeds 1/4 cup raw walnuts, chopped and extra for topping 2 tbsp rosemary leaves and extra sprigs for topping 1 tsp Himalayan Salt 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 clove garlic, crushed 3 chia eggs 1/4 cup fresh, homemade nut milk 1 tbsp olive oil
METHOD: • • • • •
Preheat oven to 190C. Lightly oil the bottom and edges of a standard bread tin. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix with a wooden spoon. Spoon into oiled tin. Sprinkle walnut and rosemary “toppings” on. Bake for 30 min or until cooked. Cool, slice, serve.

Alan Clements WORLDDHARMA.COM
PAINTER, JOURNALIST, YOGA PRACTITIONER, FORMER BUDDHIST MONK, FREEDOM FIGHTER, WORLD TRAVELLER, AND SPOKEN-WORD ARTIST IS QUITE A RESUME. WHO IS ALAN CLEMENTS? I see myself as a seeker of truth and a dharma artist. After leaving Burma as a Buddhist monk, I turned towards art, activism and the spoken word, as a means to expose the horrors of violence and dictatorship. An epic journey, from the sacredness of monastic silence deep into the dark heart of war zones.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION ‘WORLD DHARMA?’ World Dharma is the practice of freedom
and global human rights. We seek to raise awareness of prisoners of conscience, worldwide. WHO ARE YOUR SPIRITUAL INFLUENCES? My Buddhist meditation teacher Sayadaw U Pandita, encouraged me to stop running and to face myself. And my Mom before she died said, “Express your love today, not tomorrow.”
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP TWO TIPS FOR THE MODERN YOGI?
Be the freedom that you seek. In other words, stop forgetting to live. And Bob Marley's gem, “None but ourselves can free our minds.”
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING SHOW, ‘SPIRITUALLY INCORRECT?’ Through humorous stories and observations I explore the words of E. E. Cummings: “To be nobody-but-yourself — in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else — means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight.”
WHY DO YOU USE SATIRE TO COMMUNICATE YOUR MESSAGE?Cat It more easily exposes our blind spots
as a species and more readily ignites our passion to improve our humanity. You can catch Alan’s show, Uncensored Spiritually Incorrect. Friday 25th May at the Byron Theatre.
