Thursday • 28 January • 2016 YOUR ECLECTIC MARKETPLACE WHERE GOODS AND SERVICES OF ALL KINDS ARE BARTERED, BOUGHT AND SOLD

PO BOX 880 • BYRON BAY • TEL: 02 6680 7158 • hello@byronbazaar.com • www.byronbazaar.com AROUND TOWN THIS WEEK

Dust off your ukulele because tonight at Club Mullum it’s Pub Rock Uke Night. Hit their Facebook page for all the info and download the free songbook so you can play along. If you’re in need of some new threads, Thrills are having a warehouse sample sale in the Industrial Estate you could check out on Friday or Saturday. They are at 3/11 Banksia Drive. Then on Saturday evening, ‘Pure Pleasure’ is going to be dished up at the Secret Garden in Byron Bay. Soak up some sunset drinks, good vibes and local delights while you check out the art on display. There are going to be a diverse range of pieces by over 30 emerging artists. Next Tuesday it’s going to be time for ‘No Light No Lycra’ at the Byron Public School Hall on Carlyle St. This is the super fun new dance event sweeping the globe and if you haven’t been along before, it’s time to shake it. Basically it’s a disco with the lights off, so no one is watching and you can absolutely cut loose. Some call it the funnest fitness ever and to sweeten the deal, it’s only $5. Do yourself a favour and rock up on Tuesday. Have fun! Photography Credit: Daniel Ridgley Hewitt

Got something to say? - Well here's your chance ... Heads Up

Team Extreme __________________________________________ It has come to our attention that there is a serial groper on the loose. There have been a number of reports that a tall, dark male, has been sexually harassing women around the lighthouse track. He’s been described as tall (6 foot), with a lean but skinny build. Aged between 25 - 30 years old with dark brown hair, a long side swept fringe, dark skin, no body hair and possibly of South American descent. All women have been walking or jogging on their own, either in the early mornings or evenings. Please spread the word. If you have any information regarding the matter please contact the Byron Bay Police. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Congrats Team Extreme, your submission has won you a $25 Get Toasted voucher! Email us at hello@byronbazaar.com to claim your prize.

Don’t Blame The Pooch

Ruth Rodriguez __________________________________________ When choosing a pet dog make sure it is not going to be killing other people’s pets. Why staffies are so popular in Australia puzzles me. There are so many dog breeds to choose from that would make a far proper pet. If you are choosing a “Staffy” to look tough, think about how you will feel when your 30 kg dog kills someone’s baby kitten in the most horrific way and for no reason. I bet you feel highly embarrassed at the least. Pets are supposed to be friendly and loving. The moment your dog kills it is no longer a pet and should be put down. We are all entitled to have a little creature to love. If still you choose a “Staffy” then it is your responsibility whatever your dog does. In Europe dog owners must pass a temperament test before they can own a dangerous breed. It is strange that Australia doesn’t have this after praising itself as a very safe country.

More Parking Tales With A Thumbs Up

Jules __________________________________________ Now I know that so many people are griping about the newly instituted paid parking in town but I for one think it’s grand. I have my locals pass, which, while admittedly was more expensive this year, is still pretty reasonable if you’re parking in town on a daily basis. But what I love about the new paid parking is that now a portion of the nearly 1 million day visitors that come and use our roads and facilities are now contributing something to the operational expenses of the town. I think that’s more than fair. My only question is how exactly is council going to reinvest these funds into our town’s infrastructure? I hope step one is fixing the potholes in bumpy Byron Bay. But I guess that goes without saying!

WRIGHT Business Name: Photography Byron Bay Job Title: Photographer Instagram: @photography_byron_bay Place of Birth: Byron Bay Business: Travel, Landscape and Lifestyle Photographer, Storyteller and Instagrammer. The vice you’ll never give up? Donuts. Your spirit Emoji is? Planet Earth. Most exciting thing that’s happened today? I received another offer to travel overseas with my photography. What should everyone try at least once in their life? Travelling overseas by themselves. Who is on the guest list for your dream dinner party? David Attenborough, Dave Grohl, Dalai Lama, Jim Carey. What’s your biggest pet peeve? People who litter and flick cigarette butts in the natural environment, especially in Byron and on the lighthouse track. What’s your favourite breakfast spot in Byron Bay? Espresso Head, best food and best barista in town! What’s your morning routine? 5.15am alarm, Lighthouse run, sunrise photos, swim, breakfast, chai, work. What’s your favourite thing to do in Byron Bay? I run the lighthouse everyday and go for a swim afterwards and watch the sunset on the beach. How lucky are we to be able to do this after work each day! Why did you start the business? I used to share my iPhone photos on social media to friends and family and I always had a really good response to my photos, people started asking if they could buy prints of them. So I purchased a DSLR and the rest is history! If I had one super power, it would be... To fly. Then I could travel anywhere in the world whenever I wanted - for free!
