Long before Walt Disney World was here, a small, quiet synergy was brewing that no one would guess would become the world’s simulation and training headquarters. It was May of 1961, John F. Kennedy was President and things were changing. President Kennedy declared that America was going to land a man on the moon by the end of the decade. Most people in Cape Canaveral, Florida, knew this would happen and they would play a part in this historical moment.

NAWCTSD’s Miller Enjoys His Job and Life in Orlando By Dolly Rairigh Glass
Michael Miller is the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division’s (NAWCTSD) Chief Engineer for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Training System Executive Agent (TSEA). He oversees a team responsible for the acquisition of LCS training systems that will ensure crews are qualified, certified and ready to perform their duties upon reporting aboard their new ship. The LCS is a new class of U.S. Navy warship designed to operate at high speed near shore. LCS is comprised of two new and distinct variants, the Freedom variant (LCS 1), designed and built by Lockheed Martin Corporation, and the Independence variant (LCS 2), designed and built by Austal/General Dynamics.

NCS Manufacturing-Simulation Exchange August 14 The National Center for Simulation, in partnership with the Manufacturing Association of Central Florida, is hosting the annual Manufacturing-Simulation Exchange on Wednesday, August 14 at ZelTech Training Solutions, 7123 University Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32792. The event, Innovation for the World, is a trade show and networking event that brings together business professionals from both associations to meet and learn about each other’s industries. Interns from Poland Visit the ADL Co-Lab in Orlando Courtesy of ADL
In June, the ADL Co-Lab in Orlando hosted two interns from Poland who wanted to learn more about advanced distributed learning technologies. The interns spent a week having discussions with members of the ADL technical team and the Next Generation Learner team. They also visited other U.S. government agencies, academic institutions and industry sites in Orlando where they met with representatives from the National Center for Simulation (NCS), the Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) at the University of Central Florida, the Simulation & Training Technology Center (STTC), Full Sail University, Engineering and Computer Simulations, Inc., (ECS) and the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training READ MORE and Instrumentation (PEO STRI).
