The Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) was formed in 1996 and located in Orlando's Central Florida Research Park, with DoD, Joint, service, contractor, and educational organizations focused on modeling and simulation (M&S). Proximity to these other agencies offers the Air Force the maximum leverage and advantage of the developing programs and technologies enhancing the Air Force ability to provide ready forces. AFAMS is a field operating agency of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force. Their mission is maximizing warfighter performance and decision making for all operations through seamless integration of live, virtual and constructive environments. AFAMS employs 28 military and government employees. Although the USAF annual contracts are worked from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, AFAMS is responsible for integration within the Air Force and with the other services for LVC initiatives.

SimLEARN Staff Demonstrate Simulation Skills to Students By Gerald Sonenberg, as published in SimLEARN Newsletter, Winter 2014
SimLEARN staff provided medical simulation demonstrations to more than 400 high school and middle school students from throughout Florida Sept. 30 at the Lou Frey Institute of Politics and Government on the University of Central Florida. The “Simulation: Evolutionary Past, Boundless Future” event demonstrated careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in an effort to show students that STEM careers branch out far beyond what they might imagine. SimLEARN was one of about a dozen organizations that demonstrated a variety of modeling and simulation techniques and helped provide a hands-on, interactive simulation symposium. These demonstrations allowed students to “practice” procedures.
