November 2014 Service Principals Plan LVC I/ITSEC event This year’s conference theme, “Trained and Mission Ready: Deter, Defend, Defeat” focuses on the need for readiness for any situation. The I/ITSEC Service Principals are pleased to sponsor the event, “Enabling Combat Readiness: Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) Training,” which will showcase senior training leaders across the U.S. Department of Defense.

NAWCTSD, UCF to sign agreement at I/ITSEC The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division and University of Central Florida will sign an Educational Partnership Agreement at this year’s I/ITSEC on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 12:45 p.m. in room S210C in the OCCC’s south concourse. Dr. John Hitt, UCF’s president, and Capt. Wes Naylor, Commanding Officer, NAWCTSD, will participate in the official ceremony as a follow on to an agreement that has been in effect since Oct. 1.

This year’s 19 finalist games cover a variety of subjects, ranging from cyber security to geography to military medical training to hurricane preparedness, but what the evaluators believe they all have in common is the ability to get and hold the attention of their player, and have them achieve a goal or objective through the play of the game. .

STEM Proclamation announcement at I/ITSEC Team Orlando is excited to once again celebrate the proclamation of Orange County’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Week on Dec. 3 with Orange County Commissioner Pete Clark, representing Mayor Teresa Jacobs, and Deputy Superintendent for Orange County Public Schools Jesús Jara. The ceremony, which is part of the annual Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), is at 3:30 p.m. in Warfighters Corner in the STEM Pavilion.

NCS premiers M&S Certification for HS students Students in five Orange and Seminole County public high schools and the Orange County Tech Center will have the opportunity to take part in a new Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Certification Program being premiered by the National Center for Simulation (NCS) at this year’s Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference. The program, which is the first of its kind in the country, was initiated at NCS by Henry “Hank” Okraski to stimulate interest and competency in STEM and to prepare students for M&S careers in defense and other industries. The certification exam is aligned with the NCS high school M&S curriculum introduced at I/ITSEC in 2012.

Among the features of this centrally-located, modern building, is a 40 X 40 foot Virtual Battle Lab, something that has captured the attention of Team Orlando and in particular, the U.S. Army Research Lab (ARL), Human Research and Engineering Directorate (HRED), Simulation and Training Technology Center (STTC).

Find NCS at I/ITSEC Booth #2007 The National Center for Simulation is excited to be participating in the 2014 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference. Orlando is the epicenter for Modeling, Simulation and Training and each year, I/ITSEC brings a host of out of town guests for this annual event, and gives us an opportunity to showcase the great work by Team Orlando and our M&S community.

ARL announces Federal Consortium of Virtual Worlds 2015 workshop The U.S. Army Research Laboratory, Human Research and Engineering Directorate, Simulation and Training Technology Center’s Military Open Simulator Enterprise Strategy (MOSES) and AvaCon are pleased to announce the Federal Consortium of Virtual Worlds 2015 Workshop will take place on March 6-7, 2015 in a virtual conference center designed specifically for the event. This workshop is an active experience, with online exhibits and presentations provided in an interactive manner. Workshop participants are encouraged to engage and interact with the presenters, and the exhibits ranging from cultural training material in a mock village to scientific ethical dilemmas in a city landscape.
