August 2015 ADL: Exploring the art of the possible By Theresa Bradley
To what extent are the outcomes of battles determined on the battlefield? That question, if asked during WWI, would have had a definitive answer – mostly. Today, however, it is less clear due to the influence of advanced training strategies that provide information, access and opportunity for skill development at an unprecedented level to Warfighters. Our military is better prepared before deployment today because of these training technologies.

A celebration of 10 years of SGS&C: Looking back at 2012 By Dolly Rairigh Glass
With continued growth each year, 2012 was an extraordinarily fulfilling year for Serious Games Showcase and Challenge because of international expansion. “It was really an ‘aha’ moment for us because there were a lot of Serious Games groups around the world, but not very many who offered challenge opportunities like we did,” said Kent Gritton, SGS&C co-founder. “We thought by partnering with different venues it was a great way to help advocate the advancement of Serious Games.”

Commander, Naval Air Systems Command, Vice Adm. David Dunaway, held an admiral’s call at the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) on Aug. 13. In his remarks, he explained the importance of NAWCTSD’s role in maintaining a well-trained Navy. “For 70 years since World War II, the peacekeeper of the world has been the United States Armed Forces. On the high seas, the United States Navy has really been the only force,” Dunaway said. “Really, when it comes down to things that happen badly somewhere in the world, the rapid reaction force; the force of presence off the coast is going to be the United States Navy.” Follow Us On Facebook

Building a stronger simulation industry base; what it means to Team Orlando By Mary Trier
For more than 50 years, Orlando’s simulation industry has centered on the military training complex. During that time, the community has experienced tremendous growth and a training technology evolution. The simulations and training systems that have been produced from this work have virtually changed the way our service members coordinate, learn and become skilled in their areas of expertise. Training is no longer focused on an individual’s skills, but includes high level battlefield simulations that teach our military to operate as a team and even how to plan their battlefield strategies.
