Kit List

◆ Template from the Members Area

◆ Felt: bright green, pink, yellow, turquoise, lilac, off-white

◆ Sewing needle and thread, green

◆ Glue gun or fabric glue

◆ Scissors

◆ Water erasable fabric pen

1 Using the templates found online in the Members Area, cut out one circle, one rectangle, one large grass shape, and one smaller grass shape from the green felt.

2 Stitch the base of the larger grass shape to the circle piece using blanket stitch. Take your time as this can be fiddly, and try to keep your stitches close together, as this will give the basket more strength.

3 When you’ve finished stitching the grass to the base, you should have a slight overlap. Use fabric glue or a glue gun to stick the overlapping piece to the basket. This will be covered up later.

4 Fold the green rectangle in half lengthways, and close the open edge with a small bead of glue to make a handle for the basket.

5 Glue the handle inside the basket, then reinforce the joins with a few stitches to give it extra strength. These won’t be visible on the outside when you add the second grass layer.

6 Using the template cut out four egg shapes from the off-white felt. Using the pink, lilac, yellow and turquoise felt and glue, decorate the egg shapes with spots, stripes or your choice of patterns. Next,

Helping Hand

◆ To save time, you could use a sewing machine to attach the grass to the base, rather than hand stitching

◆ Slightly stiff polyester felt works better for this project, as it helps to keep the basket rigid. Avoid 100% wool felt, or a wool blend because it’s too soft

◆ Water erasable pens are great for drawing around the templates. After cutting out your shapes you can simply wipe away any stray pen marks cut out approximately ten flowers and ten flower centres, in a mix of colours.

7 Glue the egg shapes to the smaller grass piece, and stitch or glue the flowers to it, filling any gaps.

8 Stitch a few flowers to the basket handle, then glue the grass piece to the basket so it has two grass layers.
