Easter egg bush
Kit List
◆ Styrofoam cone, around 20-30cm in height
◆ Tin foil
◆ Small terracotta pot
◆ Acrylic paint: white, pink, turquoise, purple
◆ Low-tack masking tape
◆ Sphagnum moss
◆ Hot glue gun and glue sticks
◆ Paintbrushes
◆ White plastic eggs, approx 25
◆ Fake flowers
◆ Ribbon
1 First, divide the eggs into three lots, and spatter paint on them in each colour with a stiff brush [1]. Wait to dry.
2 Prepare the pot by painting with two coats of white, and a strip of pink around the rim – use masking tape to make this easier [2]. While this is drying, wrap the Styrofoam cone in tin foil (this step is optional, but it means that you can easily use the cone for another project after Easter).
3 Next, start to glue your eggs onto the cone one by one [3] Fill the gaps with sphagnum moss and fresh flowers. Add a bow on the pot to finish.

Helping Hand
◆ If you haven’t used sphagnum moss in your crafts before, you’re in for a treat! It can be found at most garden centres, and is traditionally used for kokedama, seed starting or lining flower baskets. Used dry, it’s a great addition for projects that need an organic texture. And when you’re done, you can use the remainder as mulch for pot plants!
◆ Protect surfaces with newspaper before spattering the acrylic paint. Keep a wet cloth to hand to wipe up spills swiftly – as acrylic paint is difficult to remove once dry
1 Paint the pot with two coats of white, and a strip of pink around the base, blending it into the white to create an ombré effect. Paint the dowel white. Use a stiff paintbrush to spatter the eggs with paint, one per colour.
2 Spatter the three paints onto a sheet of white paper. Once dry, cut into a bunny shape and mount onto pink card, cut into a slightly larger bunny shape.
3 Once the pot is dry, scrunch up a piece of scrap paper into a ball that’s big enough to fill the pot. Carefully create a hole in the middle of the scrunched paper using a pair of scissors [4]
4 Place the painted dowel in the hole, using hot glue if you need to secure, and wrap some ribbon around to decorate, again securing with hot glue [5]
5 Stick sphagnum moss with a hot glue gun onto the top of the paper ball. Use a few layers to cover it and build up texture [6]
6 Stick a paper bunny to the top of the stick, and decorate the base with flowers, the three paint-spattered eggs, and a bow.
