Final Installation
The art installation was created in 1:1 size for the MA final exhibition presentation, where it would activate and engage the visitor as they approached the display table.

A six-piece work was created for the showcase, and two motion sensors were positioned in the project’s centre to detect movement and activate the installation. Each flower component has an LED light installed in the centre so that when the flower opened, it would shine light onto the table.

Two Arduino Uno R3 boards were used to control the entire installation; one board was used to control the servo motors and the other to control the LED lights.
When the petals are closed, a lovely pattern is created on the table thanks to the light passing through the cutouts in the 2mm mdf sheet that was originally intended to be used for the petals. This material can bend into the right shape according to laser-cut wood bending patterns. Owing to time constraints and the time-consuming nature of laser cutting each petal on a mdf sheet and on paper, the final artwork was created without the use of a paper pattern.
