MEASURED DRAWING OF A CROISSANT How to measure a Croissant? I has learned the techniques like tracing, hatching and shading and do applied on seperate sheet of tracing papers to increase it depth, and also using fineline pen to outline the croissant. After those, I overlayed all the layers to got the final croissant drawings. Then using the digital software as Photoshop and Indesign to modify and construct the axonometric drawing through this task.

NEW MARIO WORLD The making of new Mario world. This is my finalised Mario Worldset the scene for Mario new adventure, which have 3 seperate themes. The upper was a food theme, where barriers are decorated into hamburger, sanwich, strawberry cake and so on, that inspired from my daily life that happily succumb to the temptation of delicious food. Then, by either water pipe or stairs, it will goes to the underground. If “Mario” came down by stairs there is a challenge on the train to fight with boss “Sumo Brother”. Or else “Mario” may able to choose to stay on the same layer or straight forward to the Castle layer to rescue the princess. However, there is the big boss “Big Boo” he need to conquer. For me, it is important to create a route through the world, and also the colours, gradient ,rotation and deatail optimizing the structures are also nessesary things must be done. Apart from that, through flattens the two mario scenes orderly and accurately by using lines ad geometric shapes to let objects appear and to emphasize the facade to that front as if to create two-dimension, so that the works as such becomes more distinct and specific. Naturally, viewers may gain an understanding of the “real”

1. The image was layout at 45 degrees to project objects onto tracing paper to create the foreground or background of the new 3D world.

2. Combine the foreground and background to attain a 3D Mario World with spaces not draw to be used for more add-ons.

3. After finalising the pen drawing of the new Mario World, it was scaned and photoshapped to attain a clean image. Then it is imported into illustrator, and traced with pen tool.

4. Then it is imported into illustrator, and traced with pen tool. At last, coloring the traced image and adding some patterns where needed 7

PAPER LANDSCAPE The making of new landscape My paper model take it inspiration from waterfall. Firstly I create 6 small models and used some of them with 3d penelling variables to construct out the “fountain” I want. While the other small models, I used 3d panellinng variables again to build the border parts of my paper landscape, which was inspired by Azelejo Czech/ Correia Ragazzi Arquitectos i order to create visual effect. Anyhow, the “fountain” can be observed clearly, but unfortunately, the border effect it does not appear as what I imagine. That might be improved if with smaller sizes and more pieces to emphasize the contrast effect.

3D CUSTOM VARIABLE. Try first with 2-3 modules to

2D PANELLING. Use it to panelling to 2D, this is a triagular pattern .

MODULES. Customized three- dimensional module were tested and evaluated before setting down with this design

CRAFTING PROCESS. The most challenging part of the module. Due to a thicker page, the model is harder to stick together and holds the tension.

RENDERING. The virtual model fialized for template production and physica; model assembly

Unrolled surfaces. Laser cut out the unnrolled surfaces and manually fix it to look as the model in the Rhino one.

LANSCAPE DESIGN. The inner design was inspired by fountain.

BORDER DESIGN. The border panels effect is expected to be have this 3d visual effect, which was inspired by Azelejo Czech/Correia Ragazzi Arquitectos.

Unrolled surfaces. Sections are clarified using different colors. All sections have been checked to be free of overlapping.

INVISIBLE CITY Despina

CITIES & THE SKY 3: DESPINA

In the isonometric design I have incorporated the set notations into my own interpretion to deliver the story of Despina. The QUAD has been divided into a border city with two contrast viewpoint from camel driver and sailor.I used arrows to describe the character’s movement. And used a time line to demonstrate the passage of time, which indicate the main character’s movement as the time elapses. Beside of that, I also state the accurate position for the perspective view. At the last, I used my own symbols to illustrate the individual perspective of the two main characters in stories.

Small Step Perspective 1 Perspective 2 People

I have chosen to include that sailor was away from desert of the sea, toward oases of fresh water in the palm trees’ jagged shade, toward palaces of thick, whitewashed walls, tiled courts where girls are dancing barefoot, moving their arms, half-hidden by their veils, and half-revealed. I also included people such like queen and soldiers that basically are in the palace. And I also added some scatters effect for the girl dancing there.

I have included sailor’s imagination, that he knows despina is a city, but he thinks of it as a vessel that will take him away from the desert, a windjammer about to cast off, with the breeze already swelling the sails, not yet unfurled, or a steamboat with its boiler vibrating in the iron keel, beside the quad. Moreover, the taverns where crews of different Bags break bottles over one another’s heads, the lighted, ground-Boor windows, each with a woman combing her hair were can be seen in this perspective too. Since its all his imagination, hence I added smoke to represent his imagination.

REFLECTION Throughout this subject, I feel that I have learnt countless skills in both the physical sense and from an educational perspective. I learnt my strong and weak points in regards to fabrication of design. In the study on drawing my unique croissant, I practised different drawing techniques including tracing, shading and hatching. The lectures helped me clarify different approaches in representing scalar information through orthogonal and axonometric drawings. While in Mario world, I have gained to increase my skill and uses for the Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. It was enjoyable and interesting at all, it allowing me to be creatively think of ways to fill in the hidden space of the Mario world and also construct my Mario stories. Besides, in 3D landscape, it challenged my model making skill. I would like to say this was definitely the module I placed most of my time inside ad the most tedious among the modules, but unfortunately it was also my least satisfying work. That might be improved if I do some changes since in the very beginning, in Rhino. Good things is , it will remind me next time to view things in more angle so that can reduce the regret for each time, and improves my project in a large extent. Lastly, in Module 4, it furtherd my skills in Photoshop, Rhino and Illustrator. Meanwhile, it helped me to think and present information visually through notation and perspectives. I learnt how to utilise 2D, 3D and pixel-based tools interactively to produce a final product. Overall, although encountering some mistakes along the way, I have found that it is only through these mistakes that I am able to grow and expand my knowledge. This subject was very beneficial for me in understanding the basic things used in the design field. Before entering more insightful study, this is undeniably a good beginning for me to practice and to get familiar with the tools and skills for visual representation.
