Canada, one of the best options for Ecuadorian students who wish to continue their university studies abroad Until a couple of decades ago, the only option for Ecuadorian families who wanted to send their children abroad were the universities of the United States. However, in recent years other universities in Europe have been included mainly in Spain and Italy- and in the Americas, Canada, for the following reasons: - A great reputation, recognized throughout the world, thanks to its quality and excellence. The UN has rated Canada among the 10 best countries to live in, considering especially its educational system. - Canadian tuition and living expenses, are more competitive than in other developed countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. - Canadian multiculturalism; Canada respects and promotes diversity. Canadian institutions are very respectful of the religions and cultures of foreign students and offer all kinds of assistance to help them adapt to their new environment, with advice to join Canadian clubs and associations.

- A varied range of study grants, including new admission scholarships; scholarships for academic merit; and those for social support activities.

- A bilingual education; Canada has two official languages, English and French; so, you have the option to study in English or French, or simultaneously in both languages.

If you want to explore new horizons, prepare yourself in a first world nation, a place where the common goal of educational institutions is to promote thinking, discovery and learning with an ecumenical mission focused on research and teaching, definitely, Canada is an excellent option.

Message from the Ambassador Canada and Ecuador are two countries in the Americas that share the same values of inclusive democracy, respect for human rights, and diversity in all of its forms, as well as responsible and sustainable economic, social, and cultural development. Our two countries have histories enriched by our diverse indigenous peoples, cultures, and languages, and immigrants from all over the world – each one with their unique background. Therefore, our bilateral and regional collaboration is focused on reinforcing democratic institutions, the rule of law, anticorruption efforts, corporate social responsibility, gender equality and equal opportunities for all, as well as education and innovation. Canada is one of the most popular study-abroad destinations in the world, thanks to a top-tier quality of education, as well as competitive tuition and cost of living. In 2018, Canada welcomed more than 573,000 international students. Over 1300 of these students were Ecuadorian. Canadian institutions maintain active agreements on research, student and professor exchanges with their Ecuadorian counterparts, over 130 Ecuadorian students have received Canadian government scholarships to study in Canada. In the commercial sphere, Canada and Ecuador’s economies are complementary. Canadians enjoy high-quality Ecuadorian products; meanwhile Canadian wheat, lentils, paper products and specialized machinery have received spectacular uptake in Ecuador. Canadian investment in Ecuador has been a success story with over 25.2% increase in the past ten years to reach $1.6 billion, namely though the presence of Canadian responsible mining companies fully committed to helping Ecuador develop its resource potential, and through infrastructure projects such as the Canadian-built and award-winning Quito Airport. It is through these different collaborative efforts that the Embassy of Canada in Ecuador works with our partners in Canada and Ecuador to strengthen the bonds that benefit both nations.

Seneca is a large Polytechnic Institution located in Toronto, the largest city in Canada and a place with a very diverse and thriving economy. Seneca offers programs of one year (certificates) to both students coming out of the secondary education system as well as students who already have university degrees (graduate certificates), and also two and three year diplomas as well as four year bachelor degrees. Seneca offers full-time day programs to about 27,000 students in programs from Arts, Technology and Health, to very specific applied programs in Business, Aviation and IT. During the evening Seneca hosts also around 25,000 part-time students (most of them working full-time jobs during the day). About 60% of the certificate, diploma and degree programs at Seneca can be followed both full-time and part-time. Among the 27,000 full-time students we welcome each year about 9,000 international students from more than 120 different countries. We like diversity at Seneca! The team of education & training experts at Seneca also deliver consultancy work and professional development training programs around the world. At the moment we have 14 such contracts in 9 different countries. Finally, we of course also like to be involved in student and staff exchanges. In the city of Guayaquil we work with the UEES for example. As a relative new member of the ECCCG we extend an invitation to you to visit our website and if you ever end up in Toronto, please come and visit us!
