JERSEY

Remembering Bob Anderlini ~Obituary~ In the early hours of January 14, Robert Alfred Edward Anderlini passed away peacefully in his sleep. Bob was born to Louisa and Caesar Anderlini on February 13, 1939, in New Westminster, and spent his life on

his family farm in Aldergrove. At 15 years of age, Bob purchased his first Jersey cow, beginning the award-winning Valtallina Jersey herd, which operated in Aldergrove for just over 50 years. During this time, Bob earned a variety of accolades including Jersey Canada Master Breeder, many grand champion and reserve grand champion show winners, premiere breeder honours, and many high production awards, including multiple President’s Trophies for lifetime high production. Bob was never afraid to follow his own path when developing his herd, which became known internationally for its combination of longevity, production and type. The last of the Valtallina Jerseys were dispersed in 2009 but Bob’s love and passion for the Jersey cow never ended. Legendary Canadian Jersey fieldman Oliver Evans of British Columbia was instrumental in encouraging a teenaged Bob to start with Jerseys and helped him source his foundation cattle. Bob was very good at making friends as he

had an easy way with people about him. He was a valued mentor to many younger Jersey dairymen. Bob served on a number of boards, including that of the Otter Co-op and Aldergrove Credit Union. He was a longstanding member of Jersey Canada, serving on the board for many years and as president in 1985. Throughout his life, Bob was an avid gardener, and delighted in sharing produce with others. Bob was devoted to family and was a loving father to Ken, Boni, Dustin, and Tia. He spent his retirement farming sheep on his farm in Aldergrove. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Louisa and Caesar, and by his son, Ken. He is survived by wife Sue Anderlini, sisters Betty (Al Stark) and Diana Krobath, children Boni (Frank Datema), Dustin, and Tia, granddaughters Katelyn (Derek Hamman) and Alexis (Tobias Dyson), and adored greatgranddaughter Eliza Hamman, along with a vast number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All who had the honour of knowing him will miss him tremendously.
