The Caribbean’s fashion industry is seemly buzzing right now. From Jamaica to Trinidad, there is a wave of new designers emerging in a big way. Combined with the events occurring in the United States, I believe there is a consumer mind shift. One that is reenergizing the idea for us to shop Black, shop Caribbean. At the same time, designers more and more designers are raising the bar and introducing their brands to the world. This obviously makes it a great time for creatives to challenge the odds. Trinidad’s Shoma Persad, as bold and highly inspiring entrepreneur/designer is doing just that. I had the opportunity to catch up with her.
